lol did that even make sense, I swear it does to me. I have to type with 2 fingers (know what it means)

TBH, it does sometimes look like you translated text from a different language; complete with all the grammatical "issues" and such. It really does look like a different language to me.

I will go sentence by sentence. "You are all a bunch of babies" obvious what this means "Yes they puff (tard) yes they loose balance (cheapy)." Cheaper lipos have a tendency to go out of balance and puff when asked to perform outside their spec. Anyone who is not aware of this might be mentally challenged. "Yes you can buy the expensive lipo that doesnt..." obvious "Thats a fooking FP.. " That is a -epletive deleted- flightpower (lipo?) "$50 its the same cell zippy FP xp LP some thing with vinal uses, I read there are 12 lipo factories in china and a few in Korea which use China as home land tax stuff." God himself probably cannot figure this out. Vinal? Maybe a misprint? What the 50 bucks has to do with is beyond me. The cells in the pic are not used in any other lipo to my knowledge. Second part of the sentence makes some sense. "Im sticking with Neu lipos,. they are 30c from CHINA azz---Wholes" JJ aparently likes neuenergy lipos, and seems to think they are from china. They do use enerland cells, so they are good packs. An azz---whole is a specially misspelled way to refer to someone as the area of the human body that excretes solid waste, quite a derogatory remark if I do say so myself! |

That was funnier than the original post! So apart from fixing lipo's, having big motor sales, and thoroughly entertaining all of us, linc can also translate JayJay....... Quote:

I think the $50 thing is saying that he bets $50 on something. Jesus, I wish google made a translation for JayJay to English.. Sure would be useful. :intello:  |
Truly,TRULY talented.

Got my pack today. Thanks for rewiring it and shrink wrapping it for me. I got it all charged up!
|
Where is the best place to get large shrinkwrap? I need some for multiple batteries. I am getting a zippy soon and I'm going to tape the cells together and I'll need to reshrink it along with my flightpower lipos. Hell, all my batteries need shrink.
Hobbycity helped me out with the wire shrink but I can't find any large shrink on there. |

cheapbatterypacks.com is where I get my black shrink. They ship fast, too. Never had a messed up order either!

You don't need to take time to reseach all that crap, just tell me how I calculate the size I'll need and what sizes you use. |
Cut a piece of paper that will wrap all the way around the pack one time.
Measure the piece of paper. Example: 150mm long Divide this number by 2: 150/2=75mm Buy the size shrink that will fit your pack snugly BEFORE shrinking. Remember the posted sizes on shrink are "lay flat" measurements. Something like 83mm shrink will work well for this example. Most shrink is 2:1 or 3:1 shrink ratio. You can buy a heat gun but most of the shrink, I've dealt with, works well with the heat from a blow dryer on "high heat" setting. When you actually shrink your pack, cut the shrink about 1" longer than the pack is. The shrink not only shrinks in diameter, it also shrinks in length. I like to shrink each end for a snug fit first, then I go back and hit the middle of the pack with heat. This tightens the entire thing up and makes it look good. Practice makes perfect. Buy more than you need for a practice run or maybe two. I hope this helps. |

I believe.. for my 6 cell pack, I used 68mm.

More maxamps weirdness...
So I had a guy send me a couple of maxamps packs, 1 6000 4s and 1 8000 4s. When I took them apart, both sets of cells list 4000mah on them... Kinda weird. The 4000 listed cells out of the 6000 pack are slightly thinner than the 4000 cells out of the 8000 pack...
Just figured that I would throw that out, just seems strange. I am guessing that the cells out of the 6000 pack are lower c rated, as they are thinner. Otherwise, it was all the same crappy maxamps assembly with super thin tabs and inflated ratings. |

You should have my 5S TP's in hand by tomorrow. They arrived in Slidell this AM according to the delivery conf #.

Since it has been a while since I posted some pics, I figured that I would photo document splitting up one of Skellyo's 5s packs into a 3s and a 2s pack.
Pack is a thunderpower 5000 5s 25c pack. Cells are enerland manufacture. Heres a few going into the disassembly phase. Note that enerland cells have a large tab on each end, instead of side x side as most chinese (maxamps inc) cells do. The tabs are al, but are very thick, and at least twice as wide as a maxamps pack. I will scare up a maxamps cell and take a comparison pricture. Also note that the cells are arranged in series end to end, so on odd number cell packs one of the main leads must run down the inside of the pack in order for both main leads to exit at the same end. Also note the colorful tp style tap. Both thunderpower and flightpower use the same style tap, only the wire colors differ. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3104.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3105.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3106.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3107.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3108.jpg |
A few shots of the bare cell ends:

Any updates?

I will have to snap pics of the other pack to finish the photo-documentation. Should have it all done tomorrow and back in the mail... |
Thanks for the update. No rush on them though. I just figured you had done some work on them. I couldn't imagine you getting something naked and then leave it laying there for 2 days.

Good read. Subscribed so I can keep an eye on what you find. PolyQuest is indeed an Enerland house brand, btw. And I heard they have China factories now too. With a123 in control we may see a lot of action from enerland.

Sean you told me yesterday linc was taking to long getting your packs done, & you could have done it faster yourself :na: .

Ok, more pics on skellyo's packs.
Here are a few shots of the 5s pack with the tp balancer wiring removed and split into a 2s and 3s pack. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3123.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3124.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3125.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3126.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3127.jpg |
And a few more pics of the 2s and 3s pack after I put the hyperion taps and taped them up.
Note the green masking tape. I use this as it does not leave any glue residue, like electrical tape does. It is also quite stretchy, and does not shrink or grow. Plus I have dozens of rolls of it at work. I use it to cover the individual cell tabs and then layer it up on the ends for added protection. I sometimes wrap the packs in thin clear packing tape, but these cells have a double sided tape that holds the cells together so they are attached to each other well. Cell shifting is a big problem, so it is good to make sure the cells are held together well. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3128.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3129.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3130.jpg |
Another little bit of info. Note that I have a small ziptie on the balancer wires. I do this to keep them together and provide a bit more strength. On the enerland cells that have tabs on each end some of the tap wires run along the side of the pack. I tape them down to keep them in place. The tap wires that attach on the top of the pack are looped under the tap to give them some strain relief. Some people are a bit rough with balance taps and this helps the wires survive and not tear off where they are soldered. Seems like zippy and venom packs are bad about this, as the align style taps usually have the thinnest wires in the balance harness.
Just a little info I though I would share. And these packs make an even 200 enerland based cells that I have worked with in the last 2 months! I am sick of soldering, my big gun style iron that I use for the large wires is about worn out! God only knows how many packs I have fixed/altered by now. Must be at least 250 packs. Seems like all I do is solder on lipos!!! |
Looks good James!
