Actually the bigger can simply means tat it has a higher heat capacity for the same load. It doesn't necessary mean that the larger can has lower intrinsic efficiency.

Then again with a higher heat capacity, the motor runs cooler on the same load. And since the motor runs cooler, the effective efficiency is increased as compared to the smaller motor.

The larger can motor should be running at almost the same current than the smaller motor if both have the same kv and the vehicle they are run in is geared for the same speed.

quick question about the 150a esc....

does it come with the motor wires and battery wires already connected? i ordered mine from nitrorcx.com for $99. the picture on their website shows it with no wires coming out of it.

Nixpus 06.30.2009 06:59 AM

I ordered the 150a ESC + 4465 motor from Swanghobby.

Motor and ESC was connected and there was battery cables on the ESC as well. I would have liked bullet connectors between motor and ESC... having the two wired up constantly is a bit unhandy.

Got to drive my xray xb8 conversion for 2 days when my HW80A died yesterday. up till then i was very pleased with it. program card is handy and it stayes cool. then all of a sudden after 5 mins runtime the car stopped and smoke came out of it. bec still works though. timing was 7.5 deg, punch was set to 5. ran it with a medusa 3660-2000 on 4s lipo. it took me months to finish this car and now back to the shelf again.

just wanted to ask for an update on HW´s customer service. i just wrote to the email adress that superek posted before. how´s your experiences with the cs lately?

superek4 08.10.2009 12:19 AM

It's good I just got 2 bnew 150 esc back from china paid freight us$30. The engineer name is Jack he's a nice guy. Their service is good. Now I do not worry about repairs:)

sebsta 08.10.2009 01:53 AM

Thanks superek,
i picked up jack`s address and wrote to him over a month ago.
He asked me to send pics of the esc which i did and never got a reply. I got a mmm as a replacement but i have to say that the ezruns are far better built mechanically. Maybe he reads this and contacts me again.

superek4 08.10.2009 02:33 AM

Email him again I do that always sometimes it goes into spam

Hobbywing 08.10.2009 02:44 AM

Hello, Sebsta

I just got the automatic message from the RC-Monster forum so I log in and check the thread and find your post.

You sent a mail to me? I am afraid I didn't get it. Please send it to me again. zj@hobbywing.com

Thanks!

fastbaja5b 08.10.2009 10:42 AM

13btoyrota 08.10.2009 10:54 AM

Damm, Thanks anway

sebsta 08.11.2009 05:18 AM

I sent Jack an email with photos of the esc. I hope it got thru.

Superbasher 09.06.2009 09:04 AM

Hmmmm... I think I might get one of these to run in my E-revo as they look a bit smaller than my current ESC, anybody fancy swapping one for an LT-150 6s ESC?

It's good enough for a 4s setup regardless whether it's a truggy or buggy. I raced both truggy n buggy on 80amp esc it run cools.

mihael 05.27.2010 09:35 AM

thank you

ok tried to hook a fan/heatsink on the motor and the fan tap didn't work worked fine when i plugged it into the batt spot on the RX its a turnigy fan but didn't think that mattered? i had a medusa 36-70-2300 but i fried it last week i tried to change timing went from 15 degrees all the way down to 7.5 didn't change it much at all i had cogging and the breaks were fading on it do i have a issue with my ESC?? i'm going to to try it with a castle/new 1518 1y 1800kv what should the motor timing be on 0?

How many cells are u using?

truggyracer1 06.09.2010 04:34 PM

i knw it's a bit late to let you know this but i'm using 2 reedy 2s 5000mah lipos i have the timing at 0 punch at 2 motor is castle/neu 1518 1y 1800kv runs a little warm but i installed a fan on the motor so that helps some any tips?

What's your gearing did u overgear it?

truggyracer1 06.09.2010 09:15 PM

current gearing is 16/46 but i'm thinking 50/16 maybe?

superek4 06.09.2010 09:27 PM

So your problem is the motor runs hot? 46/16 is quite fast already. Slowing down will help. Either bigger spur or smaller pinion.

How long do u run? Bash or race?

truggyracer1 06.09.2010 09:51 PM

i had it at 13/46 with my old medusa and it got hot very quickly went to the castle neu but didnt try yht 13 pinion on that had 15 degrees on the medusa 0 on my current motor

truggyracer1 06.10.2010 01:46 PM

get about 15 minutes out of it 20 is pushing it i race it and mess around with it in y back yard not heavy bashing but i put the combo to the test a few days ago i forgot to bring y temp guage outside though with the fan directly on the motor i could put my hand on the case not overly hot ad i did a few speed runs no issues wasn't sure if i should bump the timig up i'm really happy with it right now! used to be 13/66 gearing i still have the 66 tooth spur think i should go back to that i'm using buggy gearing like to mention i have 12,13,and 16 tooth pinions on hand

I race the 150amp on a x2 cr & x2 CRT temp never reach 60 degree. Super smooth & runs cool!

rcbeast 09.30.2010 09:01 PM

thanks for the fast reply... what motor and batteries are u runin with the 150a?

For my CRT it's 4274(2000kv) with 4s acorn Lipo.

For my x2 is 4168(2250kv) with 4s acorn Lipo

I m using their sensored 1/8 motors whichs not avail to the public yet. But the sensorless is super smooth already.

superek4 09.30.2010 09:09 PM

Btw ezrun is the old model I m using xerun 150

gunner221 10.01.2010 02:03 PM

I'm running my in a Revo 3.3 conversion, the heat is not bad I have recently fitted a twin fan on the motor (belt and braces really) its on a 19t mod 1 pinion and 41t spur. Only use it for bashing around when not running my HPI Baja 5B.

Good luck
