Sweet, I "won" the auction on rcdeal.com. I was the only bidder, $360.00 plus about $15.00 for shipping.

gixxer, the body you have looks like the body from the old prototype pictures before the 9 was even released, not the proline body.

Anyways I'm pumped about getting it, not sure if I'm going to run 5s or 4s. Have a Medusa 36-70-1600 would be good on 5s, also have an extra NEU 1512/2.5/D/F which I have one in my Xray and love it on 4s.

Now if I could only get more than one person at my local track to convert. :whip:

I expected you to win that one. The one I got I think there was only 3 bidders, you, me and someone else. Doesn't seem to be that many people even registered for the site. I only registered to get the hyper.

I dont really know about the body, its what came in the package. I really butchered it cause I was in a rush to finish everything. I ordered a jconcepts the next day so hopefully that one will come out a little better for me.

Now I just need that damn tekin system.

I looked at that one and it didnt seem to be the same as the one on A-Main so I ordered the one off of A-main. Now it lists it as special order they must have only had one like Ultimate did :surprised: I just hope that it handles well and is fairly durable.

got a link to the body being discussed? I am going to shoot JConcepts a message to see if they are planning to make a hyper 9e specific body.

What spare parts do you guys recommend I pick up? I know the lower front a-arms for sure, what else?

anyone got a pick from the bottom of the chassis with the body on? curious to see the overhang of the body.

gixxer 05.08.2009 08:53 AM

cain they are talking about the body in my picture. Its what came with the buggy when I got it straight from ofna. I ordered a jconcepts body though. Now I just have to figure out a simple paint scheme for it that I would screw up.

here is the jconcepts one.

I just checked it out somemore. I think you are right. The body is definetly different. The side window is one big window instead of 2 like the proline that is suppose to come with the car.

I wonder what will come with yours since you also got it from ofna.

SnoopMaxx 05.08.2009 11:48 PM

Is there any differences between the Ofna and the HoBao Hyper 9 ?

I saw an Ansmann that looked identical to these as well

FG101C 05.09.2009 12:06 AM

Ofna does some weird stuff sometimes. A friend of mine just got a mini Hyper STe and it came with a CRT.5 body. I've also heard of people getting one plastic shock tower and one aluminum tower with the Hyper ST Pro.

SnoopMaxx 05.09.2009 12:19 AM

Thatīs weird

FG101C 05.09.2009 04:15 AM

Gixxer is that the wing and mount that came with the buggy? It's not the one piece wing/mount that's in all the pictures of the 9e.

gixxer 05.09.2009 12:01 PM

no its a jconcepts wing. I didn't like the look of the one piece one. Plus I like yellow.

on the positive side. the kit came with crimefighters. Was expecting the junky tires shown in the ebay auction kits.

FG101C 05.09.2009 01:34 PM

Good news on the crimefighters, I actually prefer Crimefighters with AKA foams over the AKA tires, for my track anyway. I also noticed on the Ofna site they are working on a Jammin X2e buggy.

Cain 05.09.2009 01:46 PM

what part # do you need to do the 2 piece wing setup instead of the stock wing?

Cain 05.09.2009 01:48 PM

little youtube of the hyper 9e spinning on a display stand:

Marvin 05.09.2009 06:42 PM

I'm pretty peeved at the moment.
I mentioned before I broke the shock top, but it seems that finding spares is impossible in the UK. I ordered 86050 which was listed as the correct spare.

However, whilst it 'just' fits the shock, it won't fit the mount as the hole is too small. So I looked for the right spare part, and after about 20 minutes came up with another, different part number for the same parts. Eventually, I found on Nitro House's website the right part (under hop-ups), so I typed the part number into Google....

Zilch, nothing came up other than at NitroHouse. I also tried it without the OFN part to comply with the rest of the world, and still nothing. I'm going to have to use different shock mounts or something.

I'm not best pleased right now that, finding the part no. is difficult enough, then actually finding someone with the part in the same continent as me is completely impossible. I should be racing tomorrow, but I guess that's down the drain now.

SnoopMaxx 05.09.2009 07:37 PM

Hey Marvin Did you check the HoBao hyper 9 for compatible parts ? ?

MetalMan 05.09.2009 10:33 PM

Nitrohouse and Ofna are located in the same building, in case you were wondering.

It does explain a lot. Only problem is that I don't want to be ordering the parts I need from the US everytime a need anything, as I will get stung on import duty (at 15% of the item's value + a surcharge) - which sucks.

Cain 05.10.2009 08:23 AM

Thats strange that the part number you got was listed. On the manual I downloaded, its 29109 in the Hyper 9E parts section. You probably already have the manual now, but if not, you may want to download it and compare to what you got.

So, anyone recommendations on what I should pickup for spares? Any opinions on the durability of the 1 piece wing setup?

Marvin 05.10.2009 09:03 AM

Yeah, it is 29109. But, I don't have the electric manual, not even those first couple of pages in the nitro one, only the nitro one, which originally came with different shocks. That part number is different.

The one-piece wing is fairly durable, but I have already got the standard type wing mount just in case. The back curved section has started to break off from the rest of the wing, so time will tell, though I am fairly rough on cars.

Cain 05.10.2009 09:09 AM

Do you want the link to download it? Its on ofnas manual section.

Looking at the prices, seems 12.71 is a popular number for parts for the Hyper 9/9e . Even the optional wing mount costs as much as the 1 piece wing setup.

Marvin 05.10.2009 09:12 AM

No, it's alright, that's where I actually found the right part number finally. The spares aren't all that sort of price in the UK (if you can find them); they are all different.

Cain 05.10.2009 09:15 AM

Cool. Thats good though that the wing is proving to be fairly durable.

Huh? How did you find them? I've now ordered 3 sets of them from NitroHouse. $50 including shipping! Oh man, I wish I'd seen those earlier...

Thanks anyway SnoopMaxx

SnoopMaxx 05.10.2009 03:32 PM

I just typed the part no. + Ofna + Hobao in Google

Marvin 05.10.2009 03:44 PM

D'oh! I only typed the part number and Hobao into Google, and I'm fairly sure that didn't come up! Oh well.

SnoopMaxx 05.11.2009 04:37 PM

You have to know where to look Marvin

Marvin 05.12.2009 06:20 AM

Yeah, I know...:oh:

Cain 05.12.2009 08:38 AM

what do you feel is the largest pinion you can use on the buggy?

I am thinking of trying an idea I have. using SMCs new 9000mah battery, in a 3S configuration, with a 2650 motor. there 9000mah is rated at 28C, so that would be 252Amps continous. I don't see why I would have any issues with that high of a C rating compared to what guys were experiencing with 3S and lower C ratings. potental energy in the pack is greater than a 5S 5000mah setup.

brushlessboy16 05.12.2009 03:05 PM

17 or 18 would probably be the highest i would go in a buggy on 3s..

Cain 05.12.2009 03:44 PM

I gear for 40mph max, so should be no worries there.

I dont think gearing is going to be an issue. I have a 17t on mine now with a 1300kv and have a lot of room left on the mount.

Cain 05.13.2009 09:42 AM

thats good to know, my Hyper 9E is in town, just need to go pick it up.

Cain 05.13.2009 07:23 PM

Its here guys. Here are some pics I took, and the first one is the actual box it came in, talk about being worried!

I was kind of suprised to see the wheels and foam in there the way they were, as if it was an after thought. so maybe they are just pulling out the other tires and wheels and throwing these in. Not that I am complaining.

The tires feel like M2 crimefighters, already got a set but may just hold onto these for future usage.

The shocks are HUGE. no baby ones here. Wider than my RC8T shocks for sure.

the buggy can with an aluminum futaba servo horn as the only option, I think my RC8T may have to do a donation here of its servo LOL.

For a strange reason, I got no manual, no addedum, zip, nada. I'll give ofna an email about that one. I did get a very nice catalog for all there stuff.

I really do like the bumpers on the buggy. Especially the rear. This should do a good job of protenting things.

Ofna could have done alittel bit of the trim they did on the ESC mount on the shock towers, would have given it a nicer look. Feels beefy thoug.

The center drive shaft is really thick. no messing around here.

There appears to be punisher turnbuckles on the front and rear camber links. The steering linkages though appear to be something different, similar to what I see on Academy's 1/10 scale kits, albeit, much thicker.

so far, very happy with what I got here. Though, I do wish they went with a better fitting body or drilled holes for some mud guards.

gixxer 05.13.2009 09:29 PM

Here are some pictures with the new jconcepts body and wing. Everything ready to run with 6s pack is 7lb 14.5oz.

BlackedOutREVO 05.13.2009 09:50 PM

Doesnt look like that body fits very well?

Looks to short in the front?

Very cool buggy though! I want one, but I think they could of done a better job on the bodies

Cain 05.13.2009 10:22 PM

the body is definitely not a strong suit here. I actually think I could fit my AE body up on the chassis without much modification, just trim the front and bit and punch a new hole and it should work.

BlackedOutREVO 05.13.2009 10:31 PM

Yeah, I mean they made such a bad ass buggy. And then made the body soooooooo boring!

Im sure any buggy body will fit, but with no mud guards dirt will be right in there
