was ot really THAT easy? If i cant convert it, how bout i pay you to do it? lol

rchippie 06.26.2005 07:58 PM

It was pretty easy for me because i'm the man:eek: LOL!!.
Seriously it was fairly easy for me because dafni sent me a link to some really detailed pics.

nbcaznmaster 06.26.2005 08:19 PM

DAFNI, HOOK ME UP!

squeeforever 06.26.2005 08:27 PM

ill convert it if you plan on using a e-maxx tranny.

Dafni 06.27.2005 01:54 AM

What pics are you speaking of, hippie? You mean the stuff on LSARC.com?

The TF trays are here:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGGD2&P=7

rchippie 06.27.2005 01:57 AM

Yes those are the pics. With out them i could not have converted my revo to a evo.

nbcaznmaster 06.27.2005 07:02 AM

uhh...all i see are the TF trays.

Dafni 06.27.2005 09:12 AM

Well, check the Members Projects at www.lsarc.com
There you'll find the Revoxx thread, altough I think there are basically just the same pics as here on page 1 and 2.

The conversion is pretty straight forward, with still lots of room for improvements. Feel free to ask me if you have a question.

nbcaznmaster 06.29.2005 10:43 AM

when you put itn in first gear, does it flip alot and stuff. Should i just lock it in 2nd gear? I could then use 2 servos for steering and dont have to worry about modifiying one of them so it can shift the gear.

Dafni 06.29.2005 11:38 AM

Well, I guess it's the same as with Maxxes. If you run BL you don't really need 2 gears. One is fine. If you want, you can always flip a BL MT onto its lid. Altough such wheelie tricks require some traction.

Modifying a servo? You mean to make a mount?

nbcaznmaster 06.29.2005 11:45 AM

its not hard but i dont feel like doing it. but you dont need 2 gears? Is it fine at staying on 2nd

Dafni 06.29.2005 11:57 AM

Yeah, lock the tranny manually, or get the G-Maxx single speed conversion, or just the G-Maxx coupler.
From now on I will only build single speed BL maxxish-trucks, too. There really is no need for 2 gears.

nbcaznmaster 06.29.2005 12:08 PM

unless you have a contest to see how many flips you can do if you hold your throttle down. lol, i'll do it manually cuz i if i sell the car, i'll sell it with a pair of titans and you'll need 2 speed for that.

RC-Monster Mike 06.29.2005 05:01 PM

Well, I never ran 1st gear with the titans either, but I didn't run the titans for long!

Dafni 06.29.2005 05:10 PM

Especially on 14 cells you get nice torqy take-offs in 2nd with the brushies.

If someone will buy your converted Revo, they will most probably install a BL anyway.
But it might just be that you don't want to sell it at all...;)

nbcaznmaster 06.29.2005 07:00 PM

ya, but theres alot of newbs with their parent's credit cards!! I know tons of people who bought wildemaxx motors or stuff like that isntead of brushlesss.

squeeforever 06.29.2005 09:25 PM

thats what i did at first. i bought trinity monstermaxx motors (17x1 hand wound) with the stock evx. it ran GOOD for 2 minutes. after that i burned them up:M:

Dafni 07.08.2005 03:02 AM

Boys, look how this new motor matches my chassis:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...vonKids004.jpg

The nice color is just an additional bonus, of course. But the power it delivers makes more than up for it's weight. It looks like Business, don't you think?
It gives strong braking, and the runtimes and temps are fantastic.
My Lehner spools up a tad quicker, it's still hard enough.

DAF

Serum 07.08.2005 04:24 AM

drop in 16-18 cells, and it will be a blast..

Dafni 07.08.2005 04:55 AM

It's a blast already!
But I have an additional 2-cell pack that I can strap on if I'm in the mood. (or if any other fast trucks are around)
It's already fast enough on 14cells and current gearing, but judging by the temps I could still add a tooth or two on the pinion.

I took the kV rating on the motor, and calculated a gearing for mid/upper 30's. Works fine.

An outstanding feature, compared to my 9L or Lehner XL, are the strong brakes. Really noticeable difference.

I just got 2 5V fans in my mailbox! Will add them tonight, and maybe try 16 cells on the weekend. (I'll have to make sure I'll meet a particular Savage on the parking lot :p this time it's for real!)

RC-Monster Mike 07.08.2005 06:30 AM

You should have very strong brakes with the 9L or Lehner basic xl also. I can flip my trucks forward with the brakes very easily with either of these motors. Yoou should handily beat the savage!

Dafni 07.08.2005 07:00 AM

Yeah, the brakes are pretty strong on the small cans, true, but on the XL it's noticeably stronger. Just wanted to share my observations, didn't want to say the brakes on the other ones would leave something to desire.

Jepp, beating a Nitro MT has never been a problem, but this time it will go down in flames:D

RC-Monster Mike 07.08.2005 07:09 AM

Yeah, a nitro MT is pretty sluggish compared to a brushless mt!
For the brakes - bigger magnet = stronger brakes (xl is a pretty BIG motor).

rchippie 07.08.2005 07:36 AM

Hey daf !!!

I hope your talking about the nitro truck going down in flames not your evo:L:

Dafni 07.08.2005 08:00 AM

Nitro - flames. Sounds related anyway. :L:
In no way my current setup has something to do with hot things :D I like it like this, cool!

Sorry if sometimes I come thru to you not as clear as a native speaker would do. I try my best. Try to keep misunderstandings at a minimum, see.

Yes, Mike. Obviously. Big and heavy. But for me it's just right. The torque makes up for the weight, and I'm not looking for the hardest possible acceleration on a track. But lemme tell ya, it's quick!

RC-Monster Mike 07.08.2005 08:03 AM

The 7xl is a great motor for sure. The power and abilty to run cool with little effort easily makes up for the weight of the motor as well. 14 cells for this motor is just about the perfect voltage for this motor to operate in its ideal rpm range as well, so runtime should be pretty decent (though the smaller Lehner would run longer, it will run much warmer!).

Dafni 07.08.2005 08:21 AM

Yeah, and more heat means more energy loss, resulting in shorter runtimes.

I'm looking forward to the segmented magnets.

crazyjr 07.10.2005 03:42 AM

 Dafni! How did the race go? I've been thinking about tring this, only i've been thinking about using lexan and making a new chassis and using a hardcore titanium skidplate. I've also considered using a vantage CF chassis and your mounting method for mounting batterys. By then the mamba maxx esc will be available and a 10L nemisis will find their way in. Also hopping RCM Mike does produce a G-REVO.

Dafni 07.11.2005 09:52 AM

The Race, well, the Savy stayed away, prolly pee'ed his pants by the sight of my new motor :L: Had to race against myself. I won! LOL

Hey crazyjr, glad you decided to go BL Revo! Keep us updated!

Edit: this thread has over 3000 hits  Will someone buy me a beer?!

crazyjr 07.11.2005 10:07 AM

If they had one in the smilies i'd give it to you but i don't think i can throw that far.

Dafni 07.11.2005 12:46 PM

It's IMPORTED !:L:

Found it on some german forum

Serum 07.11.2005 05:35 PM

Yeah.. I know the source of those beers..

Daniel, if you ever come over, i will get you the beer... My house is nearly finished.. And MEN my kitchen turned out GREAT imo.. I can make kitchens.... who knew...?

Dafni 07.11.2005 06:03 PM

Yeah, Rene, I'll check it out one day. For sure!

You can make kitchens?? Run out of work, maybe? You can come over and do mine :L: I will let you drive my RC's in exchange LOL

crazyjr 07.11.2005 07:36 PM

I saw that on two other forums here in the US, i just didn't know you could download them. I'm still new at computers.

Serum 07.12.2005 03:27 AM

You mean you actually found BEER on two other forums..?!?!??!!

Don't wait.. SHARE THAT URL!!!

crazyjr 07.12.2005 08:16 AM

Hey Serum, I don't know if it will hyperlink but here is the website www.dakota-durango.com it has many others all good some may not be proper for this forum. IT WILL LINK. I almost forgot, you have to regester to get to them

|2evo /\/\an 07.12.2005 09:20 AM

keep up the good work!!!

Dafni 11.15.2005 12:10 PM

Resurrecting an ancient thread, I know :o Just wanted to point our azn kiddo over here.

I also dug some pics out, just for you, nbcazn. Here you can see how the tranny sits in the chassis:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...evoxxV1006.jpg
(gosh, this is pic seems like ages ago...the underside is literally sandblasted now)

Here you can see the finished truck, complete with wing and fans
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...x/DSC00272.jpg

Hope this helps a bit. And remember what I wrote you, learn as you go along. You're young, and I give you respect for trying to do it (instead of asking to buy mine;) ) Good luck.
