Yup,,,, still down... How long has it been down for this time? I don't remember it being down this long.....
|
Two weeks
It been ovr two weeks now. Robin is still shipping orders, and said that he has a friend working on the forum issue, but that there were some unexpected technical difficulties to deal with. His response was that of confidence that it would be back up soon. We shall see. I feel your pain as well Joe. Life just seems really strange without being able to visit the UE forum and check in with the guys on there. I do have a $200 shipment coming in from the store. Just spare parts that will soon more than likely be impossible to buy anywhere. I also picked up a couple of spyder 8 diffs in an R/C sale from one of our UE brothers. I am gearing up for a total black out on UE items. Once the store closes up that will be it. I have been snatching up what I can find to build up my stocks so no matter what happens I can always play with my SuperMaxx toys, and keep them running for years to come.

I wish Robin all the luck in the world and I think he came out with some real amazing things. Is it the market? Is it his financial position (takes money to make money), is it attitude and arrogance? IMHO, with all due respect to the guy, I think it's all the above. He's not getting enough hits on his site to pay for my weekly lunch bill and I brown bag it! I miss the site too, but glad to still be connected with everyone.... |
I dont think its comming back but yeah every one ahould stock up on what u can with out the site prices are going to sky rocket
|
Man it seems as if things are not looking so good on the UE forums.I just got done doing my civil duties with the great city i live in.:rules:Now that i have that business out of the way i was really looking to catch back up on the forums but they seem to be down.
|
Still down
Yey it is still down after about three weeks or more. I have exchanged a few emails with Robin and he seemed confident that it would be up soon, but now I am getting worried that it will be much longer if at all. There are quite a few guys in here, but still many who have not managed to come over here. I missed out on wishing them a Merry Christmas, and now new year is approaching. I do hope that it comes up at some point.
|
Well, let me greet you all with a Happy New Year now!!!!!!
|
It sure is a bummer that the forums are down.I found myself checking them a couple time to see if they were up today.LOL..So is there anybody else lurking around here on monster from the UE forums?
|
I think there a a few of us here.
8 more hours of driving and we'll be home again. |
I'm here once every two to three weeks
|
Whats uuuuppp??
Hey Chris wats up? So give your uncle Robin a call and see why UE has been down for so long. ha ha ha ha. Good to see you here with the rest of us. I actually though with UE down that I would be able to save some money, but a few of our members from over there have been selling off some of their gear here since they cannot do it over there.
|
hi guys i'm still here haha
|
Well Happy Christmas and New Years to my fellow UEphites....
I think the UE forum has been stolen by the Grinch, thinking the UEphites will not have a happy Christmas without it.... I don't know who is supposedly helping Robin with this problem, but I wish I did. That way I could ensure he never works for me.... Holy Moses I could have built an entire Network Operations Center in the time it's taking to bring this back up. I could have written all the code for the sql database without a compiler for the entire forum in the time..... And I'm terrible at that!!!! Hey Robin,,,, if you are watching these posts,,,, we want to come back home!!!! Jerry, Lito, Chris, everyone,,, Happy Holidays.... Goodbye 2011 please do not return!!!!! |
It geeks unite
I am not one of the IT geeks around here, but maybe there is more to this than just a simple IT problem. Maybe he finally reached his point of no return where money is concerned for keeping the UE forum viable. I have no idea what it is costing him to keep the forum up and running even without IT problems, but I doubt that anyone could keep one up for very long without having some source of income to maintain it. Maybe someone else from our forum who might be able to lend some technical assistance should reach out to him and offer some level of IT support. Robin has not answered my last two emails, but he did ship off my last UE store order so we know he is in there doing something. I just figured it might be tie to gather up what is still left that I can use, and at the same time infuse his company with a little cash flow in case it might help in some way.
It is sad to think that the UE forum may never come back up, but only he knows for sure whats in store for us UE fans. If the doors are closed for good all of our UE gear has become worthless to some, but priceless to others. I can see how it would be difficult to invest in any product when there is no support left to give one a good feeling, but at the same time it is pretty cool to own custom engineered R/C hardware that just cannot be found anywhere else. Kind of like restoring an old 1:1Baracuda, or an old Corvette Stingray. One has to admire the shear artwork, design, & engineering thought put into these items. Plus they look better than anything else on the market in quality hands down. I have lots of RCM gear as well and it works great & holds up just fine to the riggeres of our hobby. For the cost in comparison it is simply a better choice for the average hobbiest as well. But to own rigs made up of mostly UE parts is quickly becoming a real R/C collectors dream. Even after UE is long gone these trucks will live on with great respect within our hobby. I plan to play with my trucks well into my twilight years, and I am sure that my boys will love having them as a memory to all of the time we spent builiding the together. |
If that is Robins intentions to keep the forums down for whatever reason.I think we should see if he would let us take over the forums pages while he maintains the store pages.I would be willing to shell out a few buck a month to help cover the expense.
|
Good idea
This sounds like a good idea, but like I said unless someone reaches out to him and one finds out what the problem is, and two offers to help overcome the problem then we are going to get nowhere. I know there are quite a few people who would love to see this matter fixed so we can get back to our daily routine of communicating with each other on the UE forum. It does not do much good for us to talk about it on here without communicating with him. I sure hope that someone does something soon.
|
I think Rob offered to help but I' m not sure it he did or not. Robin needs to come down from his self-made pedestal and quit being an arrogant sob. Personally, I could care less about his crap since I don't even run my trucks anymore.
I do would like it back up so I can communicate with each of you. Anyway, have a happy and prosperous new year to all of you. |
I agree with George. Let UE RIP. It's been fun and great to have met everyone from there and make some lifelong friends, but it seems like it's it's time to be done and for life to move on without it.....
|
I think my idea has been taking in the wrong direction.I know i have been absent from the forums for awhile but i'm sure there are others from the UE forums that are not on Monsters forums. These are the ones that we should have a way to keep in touch with.My idea was meant for the benefit of us and not Robin.Let him rot in the depths are hell for the way he has treated the loyal members of his forums and the number of dollars we have put in his pockets from us pushing and introducing his parts to the newer generation looking to become one of the Supermaxx Clan.
Another thing to consider there are some members that still would like to build their fleet of supermaxx's but don't want to deal with flea-bay.The B/S/T threads was a good way to keep these parts in the "UE Family" seeing how we are the one who truly enjoy these trucks for what they are.If all the parts are sold on flea-bay there's no guarantee you'll get the winning bid so you would be stuck building a truck without parts. This is just my 2 cents in the matter.Alot of what we talked about and did on UE wasnt directly tied to Robin. It was for "US"!I'm not trying to stur up any bee's just would like for us to look at the over-all picture of the situation not "what Robin thinks or how he acts.I'm no computer wiz or web site creator but i think Rob said he would be willing to help if we could get control of the forums.I don't know about others but to keep this tight nit family together i would be willing to pay a monthly subscription fee to cover the expenses so that we could keep it up. |

On that note Happy ney year to all... keep it safe and have a blast!!! |
Happy New Year to all, at least there are some of the UE family here...Chris good to see ya around.....my thoughts are the UE forum is/was dying a slow death.....the only thing that kept any activity at all going was BST, even with some of "new" members the only thing they were looking for is parts. Not friendship or advice, just parts. No one really cares anyways, just the few die hard UE guys and the other crowd that tells you, your stupid for "buying" into the whole UE thing....Don't get me wrong, I love my UE trucks, I have enough spares to keep them going for awhile, heck, I got enough parts to build another Thunder........
|
In any case it sucks that it had to end this way if thats the case. You know if Robin was truely tired of messing with the whole"UE" thing it would have been nice if he could have turned over the site to someone that could have kept it up for us die hards. We could have weeded out the idiots and just had our tight knit group together. Its a shame to see how some people can turn into real chicken-shit once they make some money, when before they we're no better off than we are.I see alot of these type of people every day working for a moving company. Its sad because without the money they would just be another "nobody" it this world.
On a brighter note it is now 2012 and i hope everybody prospers in this new year!!! |
Bad mouthing
Man so many bitter and unhappy people with nothing better to do but bad mouth others. All the bad mouthing towards Robin just like before is not going to do anyone any good. We keep this thread going because there is still hope that the UE forum might come back from the ashes. Regardless of what you may think of Robin the UE brand will still reign as the top of the food chain for most of us. All that hating in the world is not going to change that fact.
Now I do agree that it would be nice if someone was able to take the UE forum over and keep it running for all of those who care to remain a part of that family. Life is too short to waste time wishing bad on anybody. I doubt that Robin really wants to end it here, because he still has a store full of UE gear that needs to be sold off. I would suspect that at some point he will want to hold a huge sale and sell off what he has left at cost or maybe with a small % of profit just to clear out his stocks. He just moved from his old shop and store into a new location with the prospect of reorganizing (downsizing), and opeing up a new store. So I don't believe that he is done just yet. Whatever his issues may be I hope for his sakes and ours that things work out for the best. I know that I am not finished with my UE projects and builds and could still use some of his unique items fund nowhere else in the market. So trash Robin all you like, but this is about UE products period. That is why most of us have stuck with the forum as long as we have, not for Robin. His personal issues are his problem not ours. All I want to see is the UE forum back up and running so some of us long time R/C friends can keep up with each other and wht happening in all of our lives with UE at the center of most of our conversations. So please if you are one of the haters go over to TRX and dump your bitterness on them, because they're moderators thrive on it. |
Jerry, I don't think anyone is bitter.......I think alot of it has to do with the lack of communication and broken promises so to speak.....I know that is what bugs me the most. You should remember when he posted his new place and even asks the forum what we would like to see.....whatever became of that? Whatever became of all of the parts he had found and was going to put up? Nothing, not even a kind word to let us all know how he is doing. You already posted all of that....how long has it been? Almost 2 years now? I am not bashing Robin, UE to me will always be the top of the food chain as you put it. I did not invest $1000's because I did not believe in the product.

Jobs for vets
Hey Lito how are things going for you? Enjoying retirement life I am sure. Another Navy friend of mine just put his (10) resume's out there in late November to see what kind of bites he would receive. Low & behold he immediately got about 8 hits. He did 6 first interviews, and three second interviews just before Xmas, before finally deciding on what job he wanted to push for. He is an IT geek and quite experenced with Linux and vertual storage technologies, and all self taught. He started last week with an annual salery of about $96K. They hooked him up on his first day with all brand new communications gear including giving him choices for an android phone, android tablet, and a heavily loaded laptop so he can stay connected to the system 24/7/365. The jump in pay was 30-40%, which makes the change well worth the extra responsibility for him. He landed smack dab where he wanted to be just ten miles from his house, which he has owned for roughly ten years in Charlotte, NC.

I wish I'm good at computers so I can get a job like that. I'm doing okay right now. just taking it easy. I might apply for a job at Home Depot so it will be less stressful :).
Any job openings in the state department? |
Food for thought
Try Lows you may have better luck. Home Depot just downsized and got rid of a slew of people nationwide to cut spending. I received a bunch of emails from another one of our members who shared tons of info about the two since he has worked for both. He is with Lowes now and said things are a lot better, and his stress levels are a whole lot easier to deal with. Your going to find out fast just how cut throat things are out there in the civilian sector. Plus the money most want to offer is embarrassing. One of our daughters received her Masters in Social Psychology and findig a job has been quite a challenge looking to make any kind of money to live off of. The best thing she could find was substitute teaching in a school district that is trying to create a counseling position siuted for her qualifications.
Check out State.Gov and look under employment. Remember they post jobs in cycles, and the application process is tetius and time consuming, but it is worth it once you get in. If you do get in it is a job with international postings just like the military. My wife just reached her 16th year as an Office Management Specialist", which is an (executive assistant), and she will earn well over $100K for 2011. Plus full medical with co-pays, manditory paid 6 week home leaves, and our kids paid tuitions for international schools worldwide at $15K-$20K per child per year. Our housing is paid in full, and we have no utility bills. The first two tours are Department picked two year postings, and from there on you pick three year postings where you wish to go. We have been in South Africa, Tokyo, Belgium, Korea twice, and now Prague twice. Life is good. A friend of ours is an RSO Reginal Security Specialist. He did three years here, and then opted for a one year tour in Kabul. His family stays here while he serves his time in Afganistan. He is earning double pay, Hazardous duty pay (all tax free), and has to take 2 to 3 weeks leaves every two to three months to help keep his family stablized (happy). He will make over $200K+ this year. Keep in mind that we pay for nothing. Our housing is paid for. Our utilities are paid for. All of our travel is paid for. We have the best benefits out of every Gov service you can think of. We have friends in every agency branch who praise our lifestyle. It is a traveling lifestyle, but much better than the military. Trust me I know. |
Its good to hear that somebody is prospering in this dreadful economy. It is really tough to find good paying jobs without a college degree.Every day I kick myself for not furthering my education.I'm now considering getting my CDL so I can make a better life for my family.
I'm sure you'll find something good in Florida Lito.Ts one of the few states that have prosperous jobs left.I know in my searchs to go overseas and do contract work there we're alot of jobs that we're looking for the military back grounds(knowledge).Try like ITT.com,Raytheon,Halliburton,Boeing,they are just a few that had listings. |
Hey Jerry,
NC may have some I.T. opportunities, then I might have to move..lolll Down here, it's contractors positions mainly right now. Glad your friend got a good position. I think the economy is showing a little bit of a turn around,,, we can sure as heck do with it.... Happy New Years everyone! I had a strange start to the weekend. I was going across I-75 in Florida to go to see relatives. While driving saw thick bluish grey smoke and then a bunch of leaves and debris. A car slammed on the brakes slid off the road into the grass and then flipped into the wooded area... I saw I could get over and stop so I did. Checked everything out first, luckily the 20 yr old guy had his seat belt on.... He missed 2 trees by inches and ended upside down.... I got him out with some others and made sure he was allright.. Man that guy was sooooo lucky to be alive... Made me think how lucky I am. |
I do count my blessings.
Yes I do count my blessings when it comes to how we live and what we have received for all of our hard work. All of it has been part of our plan so all of it is expected. I never put all of my eggs into one basket when it came to job skills. I tried to learn everything and anything that I could in areas that I can depend on to keep food on our table no matter what the economy does. I was a mechanic when I went into the Navy in 1977, but I am now retired from that and can do just about anything mechanical as well as cabinet making, framing, electrical, plumming, cement work, roofing, welding, and some basic machine work.
Actually I just watched a report about what States have been hit the hardest by the state of our economy, and Florida is ranked number one for the worst number of jobs available, and most of the jobs that are available are below the national average in pay. In fact this is why employers can get away with paying so little, because there are so many people waiting in line to take whatever jobs are open due to departing disgruntled employees. There are few if any loyal employers because they know they can fill any job with somebody new and at lower pay. And finding a good job with half desent benefits is becoming the unicorn of jobs. I departed Orlando in 2004 right before the housing bubble hit. I bought my homestead in 1991 for $98K (brand new model home), and sold it for $160K in Dec/2004. It hit a value of $185K six months later. Now the houses in that neighborhood are valued and selling for between $25K - $35K for 1800 sq ft, with a two car garage on a 1/4 acre lot. That is just unbelievable and outrageous. I sold the empty lot next store to my home for nearly $25K. My friends there told me that people are tearing their homes apart selling anything they can and walking away from their mortgages because the Banks refuse to work with them about the slumping values (bad loans). Investing in a good home used to be a great savings plan, but no longer. Finding a good job in Florida used to be fairly easy, but now there are hundreds of people applying for the same job. |
More info
NITRONAUGHT Hey Jerry,
NC may have some I.T. opportunities, then I might have to move..lolll Down here, it's contractors positions mainly right now. Glad your friend got a good position. I think the economy is showing a little bit of a turn around,,, we can sure as heck do with it.... Actually my best friend moved from Florida around 2000 up into Charlotte because of the IT jobs that were open there. He took a really good job as a temp, and ended up staying with the company for quite a while. Charlotte is the central hub for quite a few IT companies, and even several corperations with IT data centers there. He tells me all the time that there are tons of IT jobs available there, and tried to get me into computers, but it is just not my forte'. Through the last few years we have shared info about the economy there compared to other places, and NC has barely been touched by any of it. He purchased his home for a fair market price and has not lost a cent in value. In fact his home is up in value from what he paid in 2000-2001. So you may want to seriously consider moving there if that is an option for you. He lives just 5 miles from the Charlotte Motor Speedway so that is where I go to see the NASCAR races when I can. |
I just got done completing one more "honey to do list". Putting all these curtain rods and curtains require a lot of patience on my part. I'm glad that's one of the best traits I learned from the Navy.
Anyway, I applied for an opening within the state department and we'll see what happens. You're right about the process Jerry. It was tedious and time-consuming. But it's okay. I'm not really doing anything right now anyway. I'm going full throttle on job applications in a couple of months or so in order for me to get fully recharged and start another career. I'm hoping it will be a rewarding one just like the time I spent in the Navy. My background is on gas turbine techonolgy but also got certified as a substance abuse counselor along with my degree in psychology. This degree doesn't pay but I can deal with it as long as a company doesn't blatantly undervalue my experience and what I have to offer. My first job interview went well and in fact got oferred the job. I politely declined since the compensation was well below the average pay in the area. Additionally, the HR personnel told me that I need to make a decision within 4 hours hahahaha. Up to now, they haven't filled the opening yet. Oh well. Like I said in my previous post, I'd much rather work at Lowe's or HD and get paid the same or even lower as a residential facility counselor. Dealing with hardcore addicts at a residential facility is very, very difficult. |
Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know I'm now a member here as well. I was fairly new to ue but I had gotten a lot of advice from many of you and had purchased parts from you guys. Took me a while to get accepted here but finally got the confirmation email today. Hope everyone is doing well. Since ue has been down I picked up a prototype predator chassis and am planning the build. Bosox has already contributed to it and parts are starting to accumulate for the build.

But I'd have to sell my house, and down here that's the problem.... I can't sell my house for what I paid for it 18 years ago.... |
Tough spot.
We're all in kind of a tough spot right now with our homes. We have a house in California that is upside down as well, but what can we do. So we have it rented out to a nice family to cover a good % of the mortgage so we just have to wait it out. We had to draw about $40K out of our 401K to do a complete renovation to the hoiuse just so we could get it rented out. Man did that hurt when we did our taxes for last year.
Thousands of people are also stuck in just the same way. They cannot move to another city for a job, because they are stuck in a house that will never sell under the present situation. I hope it all works out for you one way or another. We keep hearing hints of a recovery, but without some significant change in our Gov and economy I dont see how it is going to change anytime soon. I still think there is more trouble on the horizon. Especially looking at the presidential candidates we have to chose from. |
