actually - that might cause it to steer to the left.... i dunno man -lol-

lol, i was thinking more along the line of a mini boat hull mounted on the right of it so it would keep the right side from going down. i mite have to do that to both sides though! and i was going to have more room to test but the other park had a disk golf tordament going on:no:

What's_nitro? 09.05.2009 10:27 PM

My god, it's going to be part catamaran, too? ... And they're called out-riggers, fyi.

It wants to take off- just put wings on it already....

danhfvcsd 09.05.2009 10:50 PM

hahaha - back to the drawing board then to make it out of foam like those cool hydro planes/boats/cars in one hehehe

I reckon the outrigger style would work if you used it on one side maybe man... dunno how it'd react at speed tho, as the balance would be off....

yea, i was thinking to put one on the right side for now, i'll add one to the left if i need to.

A RC Dude 09.07.2009 07:25 PM

update:

tried it like this:
http://i26.tinypic.com/iw55dy.jpg

Then it would flip left! So i tried it with two of these up front:
http://i30.tinypic.com/2u5ghgl.jpg

Then it would run fine, but still would tilt side to side before it would rise out of the water again. Plus it was really hard to controle. more mods.....and i took part of the wing off:
http://i31.tinypic.com/2a63wwn.jpg

One, posibly two more tries untill i'm going to give up on it and just let it be what it is and get a lot of video for everyone

danhfvcsd 09.07.2009 07:40 PM

haha, that's basically what I had with those fins on the front!

I found 2 old mini radioshack boats not quite 5in long with no remote for cheap off ebay so it's going catamaran!

-lmao- this thread is so funny - please keep it up =)

A RC Dude 09.08.2009 08:34 PM

redshift 09.08.2009 08:43 PM

Did you settle on a name yet?

I'm thinkin' Frankenboat, or FrankenFrigate (just sounds vulgar), maybe the 'Shack Monstrosity... or Hell Raft.

Like any of those?

redshift 09.09.2009 09:59 PM

Don't think of them as pontoons. Think of them as lifeboats. You just never know when you might hit an iceberg... even in NC.

One to ponder.

 you know, they probably are close to the right size for the MMM cambo and recaiver to fit in one and the battery and servo in the other :rules:

redshift 09.09.2009 10:24 PM

Read my mind, ya did.

A RC Dude 09.09.2009 10:33 PM

haha

maybe the name should be the Steadfast Turbo Drag boat...aka STD

haha.....but seriously with the size of that thing I thing I would have a hard time cramming that "std" in a woman......

BL_RV0 09.09.2009 11:56 PM

Well there is mardi gras. Park a cadillac in a thimble with room to spare...

bustitup 09.10.2009 11:32 AM

no interest in putting your cc combo in a $100 hull and probably hitting high 50's or low 60's.....and having a boat that will be as stable as heck?

all the money you are spending on glue, duc tape and glue sticks you could be building a real boat?

just my 2 cents

+1. It's very easy to make your own cooling jacket so you could make a cooling jacket of your own to fit that CC motor and then plop it in a proper boat with a proper propellor and have a very solid performer. A marine ESC would be a good idea when you get the money, but for the time being

ticklechicken 09.10.2009 11:42 AM

Yeah, you should get a better hull and build the average-everyday-run-of-the-mill boat. I'm sure that would get 7 pages of replies.

Keep up with the chaos, please.

I took a kb45 cooling jacket and just got some o-rings to work and it fits perfect the i.d. of the jacket is about 1/8" bigger than the castle neu fins

but yes you can make nice cooling jackets out of strips of CF and resin

I bet he will have alot more fun ounce he hear's that motor winding out at 60 mph 35,000 rpm and his rooster tail spraying on the turns

A RC Dude 09.10.2009 06:09 PM

well, i would like to spend money on a nice boat hull but i have no money at all. I actually owe my mom and dad money (i'm 16 btw) and i've built it compleatly from parts i've had maying around the house (other than the two small boats that i got for less than $10). Part of the point of the project is to get a laugh or two and have fun building it! I don't normally care too much for buying a good boat hull and screwing in another motor. Plus, I don't have any use for a nice boat, i must drive 15mins to the lake with a ton of trafic or 20mins to a stream big enough to have a lil fun in. otherwise i would use it twice a year when i went down to alabama to visit grandparents. Or actually, we sold their lake property so that wouldn't happen.

not to mention that i can't seem to find a decent boat hull for cheap

Hey no disrespect meant friend.........money is tight right now even for grown ups like me.......all the reason not to trash a $300 brushless combo you acquired somewhere

Good luck with your project man

suicideneil 09.10.2009 08:26 PM

Techincally it'll be a Trimaran with the two outriggers..

As for a name, how about 'The Turd: its a floater...'

Semi Pro 09.12.2009 01:46 AM

so has anyone offered up the name project fail boat?

suicideneil 09.12.2009 10:38 AM

Looks like something out of Power Rangers, some sort of speed-boat megazoid...

A RC Dude 09.12.2009 11:16 PM

Thanks guys! and as far as the name, maybe the Stingray power boat?

how about this:
http://i31.tinypic.com/264ko46.jpg

the top will go on the sides and the bottom symbol (from the corvette stingray concept) will go over all the duct tape on the top. I'm going to have to laminate the paper or something

What's_nitro? 09.12.2009 11:20 PM

Swordfish?

humm???

i went to test it and i had to rescue it. :yipi: the set screw on the motor came for enough off the slide too far back on the motor.

-lmao- that's the worst! cant wait for the next episode hehe

What's_nitro? 09.13.2009 08:47 PM

I was wondering what that first pic was... Did you hit the throttle a bit to hard when you put it in the water?

Ya definitely get some strong Loctite on that thing.
