For those whom are following my thread I greatly appreciate your interest, I do have the 6x6 100% complete and have done a limited control test here at home but Sunday at a scheduled meet I hope to get some good still pic's and video of it at "work".
Please stay posted for the first actual real world test.

Thanks for looking

Dude! That's just too cool!! It sucks to see Bob Zombie getting a tow but that works phenomenally!!

Thought about stiffer springs in the rear maybe?

Bondonutz 07.14.2012 10:36 PM

Hehe, Thanks Corey.
Ol Bob is pissed because he thinks he's getting repo'd.

Thinking about springs also but really wanna drive it befor I decide to do next.

Bondonutz 07.15.2012 07:00 PM

Went for a scale run this AM and had a blast, A real nice spot with a great mix of everything from trails, gravel, sand, mud, creek, steep banks etc except rocks and all completely shaded. I was so into wanting to drive and test I completely forgot about the camera and HD recorder in the car, DOH. Luckily DontSlowDown/Chris had his Iphone and snapped a few pics, Thanks Buddy !

Great Job Bondo!

Reminds me a Lizard Lick Towing.

"But.......But...........I PAID my Bill! You ain't taking my ride!"

LOL

nitrostarter 07.15.2012 09:39 PM

Come on!! No video!!!

Next time we better have some footage! Sounds like a cool spot to have some fun at!!

lincpimp 07.16.2012 01:23 AM

Glad you got the steering figured out. I like that canted servo mount, really thinking "outside the box" there. Not like you have been "inside a box" in a while, at least since your last "lifestyle change". Lay off the estrogen, and maybe you can remember the camera next time you go scale wheelin'!!

Bondonutz 07.16.2012 04:49 PM

@ Sikes; Thanks Bro, glad u like.

@ Corey; you'll live till next time. I was pretty dissapointed myself sorry.

@ James; The servo/steering compliment is appreciated, I appreciate the help w/that.
The rest of your comment; Go EAD. :na:

Just charged one of the 3s packs from Sunday, I ran 1.25hrs with a 3200mah 3s 30C pack and the Hyperion charger said it still had 43% charge. Happy w/that !

No problem, always here to help. As far as EAD, I will leave that in your capable hands (mouth?)

Bondonutz 07.17.2012 01:29 PM

Gee thanks.

I took these with my phone but I thought they didn't look that great till I downloaded, figured I'd share these as well.

Man, you have me wanting to finish my various 6 plus wheeled rcs... I have not touched an rc for a long time. I did just score a mini mill, so I could start turning out some custom machined parts, like transfer diff housings, knuckles, etc. I need to have my buddy weld on the maxx al bulks I have, then I can machine them to shape and finish the old maxx "centipede" (as tdc57 dubbed it)... Maybe in the winter when everything calms down some...

I just spent a few days in Exmouth visiting my Dad, he's a typical 'run for the sun' kind of retiree (I met lots of retiree's up there) and seeing this thread again makes me think 'I want to do that when I retire'. I don't want to mimick what you've done but to spend the hours making and thinking and re-making to create someting like you have would be an awesome feat:yes: big kudos buddy

Hey thanks PP, much appreciated my friend.
Building from the ground up like this has a personal reward unlike anything else I've done in RC befor even with fabricating all the misc one off parts I've done in the past. This level of scratch building far exceeds time involved anything I've done prior, the fun level has ben off the charts as well. I'm looking forward very much of starting my replica 1:1 build of my Grand Cherokee scaler, I will be making the frame and everything else from zero. Should be fun.

I've torn the entire 6X6 down to zero and have decided to reconfigure the axles to the standard o--oo axle layout, The #1 & #3 axles will steer only. I also stripped all the paint off the brass work and beefing up and lenthening the bed boom and the tow apperatus. I also have made a entirely new rear bumper thats much heavier duty and scale in size. Have plans for a crawl meet the 29th and hope to have it done and get video.

I will be posting another batch of pics sometime this weekend when I get the big pig back together, stay tuned !

Bondonutz 07.21.2012 01:02 PM

I finished up the last of the revamped brass work this afternoon, may not look like much is different but believe me I added a lot to beef everything up. Extending the boom required some additional braces and the much heavier duty hooks on the tow rig were warranted.

Now time to start putting everything back together, again

The newly braced and re-hooked tow apparatus

I tweaked this last time trying to get my buddies Hilux unstuck, with the new improved design and length plus the braces this thing should be rock solid now.

Man I need to check this thread more often.

Bondo kept telling me to get ahold of him if I needed a tow job. I thought he was saying, "Toe job" and thought he had a foot fetish.

And James can EAD. No, seriously lincypoo, please?

Given you're a quad I can understand you're not interested in toe jobs but you still persist with James to EAD?:oh: I need to go drive the porcelain bus now :slap:

But good video.

Awesome test of strength pulling up the 3 gallons of water!!! That was cool!!

brainanator 07.24.2012 09:39 PM

24 lb lift is impressive as hell! I want to see that thing climbing walls now!

Bondonutz 07.25.2012 02:46 PM

@ Corey and the Brain, thanks guys !

I'm willing to be the winch will pick up 4 gallons and possible more but I see no sense in risking any damage, I doubt very seriously the rig will ever see stress to even match 24lbs.

Truly a bad ass build. After seeing this my next build will definitely be a crawler or scaler or some combination of the 2.

The fab work and overall project are just top notch.

Thanks for sharing this with us Bondoballz:yes:

FG101C 07.25.2012 03:35 PM

This truck is just awesome, I want to build a scale crawler myself. What are some good crawler sites for info?

Thanks.

That sure did turn out sweet ! I watched a show the other week where boondock Russians or somewhere around there drove 3-4 of those to recover rockets that fell off during launch or reentering satallites etc. They got tens of thousands for the aluminum and drove those bad boys into ice helll

Bondonutz 08.02.2012 10:11 AM

@ Jay; Thanks bro, I seen that show as well, great stuff !

Ben working on my 6x6 and adding a few things, I'm ventilating the electronic compartment with a small fan and exhaust outlet. Unfortunately with it being so well sealed it gets pretty warm in there, the temps aren't crazy or anything but I figure it wouldn't hurt to get some air in there, it'll be on a switch as well so it's not on constantly.
Also putting together some Blue and Red LED's so when I'm towing something I can hit a switch for the "caution lights" Would cool if they would blink or flash but o-well.

The gimmick I'm making is with stuff I already have in the treasure drawer.

Ideally I want one of those giant light kits with the speaker and down loadable deisel sound track and air horn, that would be friggin' awesome but they start at 200+

Cool exhaust. Quite the extensive project my friend. Looked over all of it this am again and wow. I would love to to something like this, but life for me is just to busy right now. I would love to make my own 1/5 buggy from scratch...made specifically for the beach/climbing. Someday.
