Now the fun part begins - choosing the combo that I like!:party: |
looks good .....
buy some electronics and get it dirty .... :) |
Bravo! Looks great man!
For screws, I ended up buying a couple different packs of 100 stainless screws in different sizes. I use them in different vehicles so it was better than buying those prepackaged packs. I feel I got better quality this way as well. |
lol Tinuss! This truck was purchased in September of 2009. It has been really dirty. However, I learned from my grandfather, years ago, to always clean up the things that will require maintenance later. He was talented in building many things - including his own homes and repairing his own cares. This list could go on. So, anytime I run the trucks, when I get home they will get cleaned up. (makes them easier to work on later)
|
Nitrostarter, that's the reason I have been purchasing those stainless steel screws from the local hardware store. The quality of the screws are good.

There has been a few upgrades for the #number two truck. I certainly have considered purchasing the brushless combo for the truck. But, I will do a couple more upgrades from Robinson Racing and Hot Racing. I like Proline's-F-100-1956 body as well. |
|
I had some issues with my 1/8th scale diff upgrades on my builds. I changed the diff case gaskets that measured 0.55 mm in thickness, to 0.50 mm and the diff challenges do not exist any longer. In fact, did not need to shim the diffs at all. They are operating like they were factory built. And, for me that was good news!
|
Neat looking ride! I'd change the stainless countersunk screws for the standard 12.9's though. Those stainless bolts are rather soft and might shear on impact and the allen head strips out rather easy too. I know mcmaster sells some blue 12.9's in countersunk as well. They are dark blue. Avoid the a2 stainless bolts.
|
Thanks Serum for the information! I'll check those mcmasters 12.9's out.
|
Almost finished with the number two truck's upgrade/rebuild for brushless combo! I've had lots of fun with this upgrade too.

All those shiny parts!
I prefer Traxxas's slipper system tho. Worked pretty well for me and even adapted it to my crawlers when possible. |
I like that servo saver pretty good it is what I am using now. But Central Maxx has a new one that is like the UE Gen IV but a threaded body. The Gen IV is pretty good too.
|
Thanks Nitrostarter and Kcaz25! Any alternatives to the research I do is appreciated. You both have more experience and thank you again for your inputs!
|
I installed the Hot-Racing aluminum bearing saver steering kit on the FLM upgrade truck. I chose to remove the anodized colors and polish the aluminum instead.

Thanks Nitrostarter! I enjoy the hobby and exchange with individuals like yourself. Your input has helped.

This was my first E-MAXX - it is a 3905. The top pic was how it looked after it's first aftermarket purchase - a new body. The last pic is how it looks now. The aluminum chassis will be anodized black to begin the brushless upgrade process. |

Found the diff on another thread:http://www.dollarhobbyz.com/ofna-1-8...ferential.html Does anyone know the silicone diff oil weight of this completed diff? I may have to change it - cause' not sure of the lubricant.
|
If this is the right manual, it says it comes with grease stock?
http://www.ofna.com/pdf/14326-New-Hyper-7-book-2012.pdf |
Thanks you Ruudxd! I will review the manual and see what I can find. Well, the silicone oil is an option. :rules: Thank you again for your help - sir!
|
No problem, happy to help when I can!
|
Well Ruudxd your help is appreciated.
|
Well, as soon I discover another process to upload more pics, I will show pictures of the progress for number 1&2 FLM upgraded trucks - plus the V-MAXX chassis build. As usual, it's been fun to build and upgrade the trucks.
|
agree... building is just as fun as driving these things ...
|
Yep Tinuss! Still working on how to upload pics without using the previous online photo library though.
|
We have moved to California and the hobby has been elevated to another level in me; cause' the terrain has many options. :yipi: Also looking for hobby shops in the area.
|
Some of the biggest hobby shops in the world are in California and Florida
|
Thanks for the info Kcaz25. I look forward to finding them.......
|
Okay:
I have a question of which I have not found an answer - so far. I'm looking for a 23T aluminum servo horn that will work in one of the E-MAXX builds I'm doing. Does anyone have any knowledge of such a thing? If not, I will purchase another 25T servo. In advance, thanks for your help! |
Finally have some updates pics and here they are for the V-MAXX chassis build:

Fun build so far ya'll:

For those that can recall, there are two other E-Maxx, Maxxamoungus-upgrades, I was working on from the stock 3905s. I called them #1 (color-blue influenced) and #2 (silver-color influenced) E-Maxxs. Here's what they use to look like before I desired to convert to brushless monster trucks. This is what they looked like during the upgrades!

I have been researching for the 2200kv brushless motor combos for these three fun e-maxx projects. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.:rules: https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...psrdzb7vim.jpg https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...ps0vicjp16.jpg https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...psky7nrwga.jpg https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...psedqq09om.jpg https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...psuja0edp6.jpg https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...pshlwl94gm.jpg https://i1342.photobucket.com/albums...psp6sgkbaj.jpg Boy, these upgrades have been a lot of fun! This is just pure and strong pornogravy :-)
Great looking trucks! |
Thanks Ruudxd!
This has been fun and it's obvious there's more fun pics to come due to more parts required to finish. |
