That is very cool. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your mill?

Sylvester 02.15.2007 10:21 AM

Nice! I have something similar on my mill, but it is a huge compared to a small one since i use it for my buisness as well. Nice job though!

i paid round 650 to 700 USD......
i hear that you can purchase it cheaper in the US...bout 600USD?....

BlackedOutREVO 02.16.2007 02:47 AM

i ment the mill, but i like ur stuff to =)

overtki11 02.16.2007 04:56 AM

opps my bad....

please see post just before your last one....:005:

jollyjumper 02.16.2007 05:01 AM

how did you design the parts you made?

overtki11 02.16.2007 08:30 AM

i don't...i mill on the fly....hope that makes sense...

basically for example...i wanna hook up the engine to the tranny...i hold the engine in a position where i think will fit and see what i need to hold it in that particular location...once i do that, i mill whatever i dun need off the piece. and i'll be left with what you see....

jollyjumper 02.16.2007 08:39 AM

holy crap, thats amazing.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=44991

and its even cheaper than i thought!!!:035:

i read that many peeps get their mills and stuff from these guys...

i got mine locally (singapore) from a reseller...

jollyjumper 02.16.2007 11:02 AM

there are nice machines on that site!

overtki11 02.22.2007 11:05 AM

well, decided that i'm a gonna do without the reverse gear for now....seeing how i'd need to buy a micro servo and fab yet another servo mount....haha...

so i removed the opti-drive....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/P2220154.jpg

the hole in the tranny needed to be "blocked up" and also, needed to have something to lock the shifter rod in place...
here's what i came up with...

jnev 02.22.2007 11:09 AM

Very thoughful idea. Good job!!

It does to me, I can't draw and still learning emachine , so i do most designing in my head. When i get close i start looking at details.

phew! thanks dude....now i dun feel like such a freak no more! haha.

well, i just started on my last phase of milling work on this project and once this final piece gets done, i'll start running the fuel tubing on this thing and see if she'll fire up!....:026:

jollyjumper 02.25.2007 11:48 AM

you guys got my wondering about something,
do you use good alu or w/e you are making parts from or do you use crappy stuff first to try if it fits?

overtki11 02.25.2007 08:39 PM

i use the good stuff straight off as the cost of the good alu is cheaper than the cost of my TIME i can afford to put into these projects (two attention seeking kids, and an angry wife!:005: )

and ...seeing how i dun have any drawings to follow, i make up the design as i go along....hence, i never "botch" up..."wink wink" :005:

overtki11: Maybe I missed something in a previous post, but the Revo forward-only conversion comes with the little cover for when you remove the Optidrive. It also comes with a little plug for the gear shifter. That little machined cover looks nice though...

haha, no you didn't miss anything...

just didn't wanna spend more money buying the FOC....so the tranny's fully stock, just locked reverse out....

BrianG 02.25.2007 09:22 PM

lol, I never knew anyone that would machine something custom to save ~$12. :)

overtki11 03.04.2007 08:18 PM

good thing i never throw away parts...even tho they may be broken

saves me a bundle of time not having to tear down parts from the truck just to take refernces...

ev·o·lu·t-x-tion

erm..ok i got two action shots only.... was too busy running the truck that we forgot bout pictures...

here's one where i jumped her...by accident! didn't see the ramp!
but the good news is, she jumps flat and predictable on the way down....quite well balanced i must say as i don't have a clue how to "control" an RC in flight!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...0tion/jump.jpg

here's one after the 4th tank of fuel.. ....popped a link and didn't even know....good thing i missed the ramp this time! haha.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ion/missed.jpg

all in all....yesterday was a great day for me...
thanks to my pals who passed me some fuel and loaned me a glow heater ....i managed to get ev·o·lu·t-x-tion running...

overtki11 03.11.2007 09:07 PM

and here are the vids! proof that ev·o·lu·t-x-tion actually works!:005:
