V2 Slipperential transmission.. when????!!!!
HEy when is the V2 Slipperential coming out to buy...
Anyone know???' :032: Also what lipo should i get for the c40 hacker motor and the mastercar sport esc/6-12 cells R on=2x0,0012 ohm. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should i even run lipo or just 12 4200 cells? |
i don't think anyone knows. and the people that do know probably can't say when anyway (those people who got the trail V2's might know though).
Last i heard, he was swamped in brushless conversions. I wish he would get done with them (not pushing) I need a V2 slipperential to complete my G2R
me also!! just need the v2 slip and a lipo for my hacker system!
cant wait! |
Another reason why cloning is a good idea- that or he needs to take on an aprentice. Im pretty handy with a lathe, although it has been rather a while since I used one last. I got an A grade for Design & technology GCSE, but I think the fact I live 5,000 miles away could be a hinderance...
when are these going to be in stock, I would like to pick them up and hybrid diffs for my g2r
I heard the V3 should be in soon (which I think is a drop in for buggies).

That sounds cool, but I dont actually recall the V2 ever being for sale, just advertised but not ever in stock.
yeah and whats up with that.....my g3r revo is still just laying around with no center diff slipper..maybe i should sell it
Just buy an Emaxx tranny to run in th mean time- they can easily be modified to use a revo or jato slipper with mod1 gears ( but no center diff ).
Will someone explain to this noob what a V2 is? A combined slipper and tranny for gorilla chassis? Will it fit and FLM E-Maxx?
The V2 is the version two of the slipperential. It will only fit the Gorilla chassis for the Revo and the Maxx. V1 fits Maxx gorilla. It is a center diff with a slipper clutch built in..
So what happens to the front and rear diffs? Or does a GMaxx not have those?
The center diff replaces the tranny and distributes power more evenly. Like a truggy kinda. So the Maxx has diffs
Sweet. Thanks for the replys.
Yeah, just like how a normal diff splits the power between the wheels at either end of a truck (one wheel turns faster than the other when turning a corner), the centre diff splits the power between the front & rear of the truck. In theory it helps to prevent wheelies and is most often used in racing vehicles- not an essential item for general bashers.
SO I have a question. Seems that there are a lot of us who are waiting for an overly busy supplier to mass produce this wonder center diff. My question is why couldnt we purchase a center diff for a truggy and mount one of those in our trucks????

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ryan.coombes/emaxx.htm Scroll down abit. The problem is that none of the existing centre diffs from buggies & truggies have slippers built in, and quite alot of work had to be done in order to get one to fit, as can be witnessed by the Candymans mod-job. Im not sayng its a bad idea, far from it, but what I am saying is that you have to be really rather skilled with metal working and have a good eye for engineering to make it work; which puts most people off attempting it. The beauty of the RCM slipperentials is that they are drop-in units that require no custom work to be done- just a shame Mike only has one pair of hands..... |
Great! So most of the truggy conversions I've seen (so far) do not have a slipper in the system. And I for one run my slipper tightened all the way down, as I know many others do, thus basically taking the slipper out of the picture for all but ht emost jarring of landings. I know the benefits of a slipper has been debated on here before, but I think I may go the route of not using one...........at least unitl Mike has grown a few more limbs.
Does anyone know anything about when the V2 slipperential will be released ? I have mailed Mike but he has not answered ??
Well, I really don't know what's taking him so long to finish it off( I hope it's not the buggy...).
The latest RC Car Action magazine has a brief mention of Mike's slipperential, so I'm guessing it will be available soon.

If you look in the new stuff section, it's purpleish blue.
The weird thing is, it's not the slipperential per say, but the slipper diff. It looks good to.
It'll save you major weight in comparison to the old slipperential and it'll act like a centerdiff with slipper integrated to the diff unit. Now this is something I've been waiting for.

I saw that artical too. It must be close if its in the magazine. Thats gonna be a sweet product. Wonder what the price is gonna be? Hopefully cheaper than the v1 slipperential for the emaxx was.
Just found it, it's page 180 in the April '08 issue.

wow, I want one for my G3maxx :)

The slipperdiff is much better IMO however, wonder if you can make it work with a maxx? I suppose if you found a way to lower the mount of the motor, it would be feasible. |

Has anyone heard any new information about the Slipperential?
