Gah, so many wires! But thats still rather tidy. Which motor is that, and how much does she weigh all-up?
|
I thought about the Dean's minis, but had the Us on hand so I decided not to wait. I guess over kill isn't a bad thing though. :)
It's a Feigao/Wanderer/Nemesis 9XL. I'm not sure what it weighs yet, I don't have a scale at home, but it's still a LOT lighter than my E-Maxx. I"m hoping to stay around 10 to 10 1/2 pounds when it's all done. |
Well, she's come to life! The initial test runs in the yard were great! Lots of speed and more power than the CFs can put to the ground. I'm going to have to play with the slipper to get it to hook up. I'm heading to the track tomorrow to see how much I can tear up there. :D
Thanks again for everyone's help! Cajun |
Have fun and bring spare parts. ;)
Seriously, I kept popping axle carriers about once every battery pack. I do tend to powerslide around corners a lot so that puts some lateral stress on them. Once I installed the RPM axle carriers, I haven't had a problem since. You may want some RPM arms and maybe stiffer springs as well... |

I already made those upgrades. I have RPM arms and carriers all the way round. I added stiffer springs back a couple of months ago when I was chaisng the chassis set up as a nitro truck. I'm running blue (5.9) rears and sliver (4.9) up front. I did find an old scale in the shed and it's telling me with 14 cells I'm at 11 1/2lbs. That's about a 1 1/2lbs. more than I was shooting for, but I don't know where I could cut anything. I'm stoked and she's running great. I'm going to get the fans mounted tonight and do the front end alignment and get ready to take her to the track tomorrow. I hope I'm not the only Revo there. :005: |
Lots of wires, but still very tidy. Very nice job on the revo!! Have fun with it...
|
very nice work man
|
To lighten things, try drilling some holes in non-needed places on your added brackets. Also, going with lipos would help. ;)

I thought about some speed holes. :D Probably will do that as soon as I tear it down again. The lipos will happen eventually too, as soon as the budget permits. I'm going to get one more set of nimh 7 cell IBs, then I'll start the conversion to lipo, starting with a nice charging system, then the batts. Thanks for all your help and advice Brian, you saved me a lot of time and money I'm sure! Especially the data base and technical info. That was a lot of work to compile and I appreciate it. |
No problem! And if you can think of anything to add to that "database", let me know!
|
that looks good cajun. i like how everything is mad to have a spesific place. i beleve the "jonny go fast holes" will realy help the weight issue. also a single servo also. so when can we expect to see the pictures of the fans mounted? and are you planning to race at Monkey bottom, if you are the cajun i am thingkin of.
|
I am indeed that Cajun. I'm hoping to get to Monkey Bottom this summer, but unfortunatly, it's too far from here to race every weekend.
Thanks for the compliment, I'm going to add the holes next complete tear down. I'll put up some pics of the mounted fans later this week. I'm going to try to get it all together for vacation week after next. I want it and my E-Maxx up and running for the week while we have visitors in town to race here at the house on my homemade grass track. :D The single servo is coming as soon as the budget allows, I had a couple of Hitec MG645s on hand so I did swap those for the stockers. |
hey if you can come the upcomming race. i wont have a revo but a jato with a purple and black musting GTR body. i do make every race i never do good but i'm there to have fun.

Hey guys, been a while since I posted. I finally did the rebuild on my E-Revo and thought I'd post up some pics of the new/old set up....
I replaced the BEC with an RX battery and that really simplified the wiring harness I used a Blue Groove conversion to replace some of my homemade aluminum brackets and mounts with carbon fiber mounts RC-Monster motor mount RC-Monster mod1 pinions MaxAmps 4s 6000mah 1500mah RX hump pack Wanderer 9XL Mamba Max RPM corners Tony's Screws as always new blingerific body plus all the original mods from build V1.0 I also finally fixed all the problems that were incured when I decided to see what it would take to break it last spring. Surprisingly, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had originally thought. There was one slightly bent push rod and 6 or 7 rod ends that needed to be replaced. That's it.... I haven't weighed it yet, but V2.0 should be significantly lighter over the original as well. I dropped all the aluminum mounts as well as the wing and mount and went to the 4s instead of 14 subCs. Here's a few pics: http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1757.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1758.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1760.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1804.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1798.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1797.jpg |
Nice and tidy- what shell is that exactly?
I see you have some maxamps lipos... {burn him, burn him!} |
I'm not sure what shell that is, I got it on a Rustler roller I bought a while back. It was a little short, but chopped off it works....
I guess I've been out of the loop for a while, what's the burn with MaxAmps? |
Oh, nothing new as such- we/I just hate them :mdr: for being overpriced- they have new cells coming soon, but still too much $$$ compared to the likes of Enerland, or the Zippy cells that are very popular right now from hobbycity.com.
