Holy Crap! :surprised:!!! That thing has a ton of power! That should be awesome to see going, please try and get a video of you driving it around soon!

I'm still putting together ideas for the brake setup. It may be a while before I make an outdoor video, unless I decide to blow the leaves out of my yard.

Those tires in the video are Proline Speed Hawg II's which should help prevent skidding during deceleration.

I'm all excited to see this thing go...

Mallanaga 10.19.2007 12:56 AM

all i know is that it's going to accelerate like nobody has ever seen...

Time to VOTE!!!

Please state whether you think I should take this project to new heights:

Exhibit A: Ofna 1/8 Ultra GTP ARR Chassis

Exhibit B: There is no exhibit B.

I'm toying with the idea of buying one of these and putting two (what did he just say?) of the 90mm EDF units on it. Each with it's own Feigao 8XL since I really think the fan is capable of much more that a 9XL can attest to. The BIG plus here is the pre-installed brake system. Two MM's for control (possible thrust variance in corners?) and, since the fan blade weighs nothing, I can probably use the same MaxAmps Batteries (4s 4000mAh) in parallel for 160A total continous output. Although I really dont think I'll need anywhere near that amount of power.

YES! If you could swing it! Funny thing is that I clicked the link before reading your entire post and said to myself "Wouldn't it be cool if he put two fans on that thing..."

What's_nitro? 10.20.2007 11:57 PM

I did it. He made me do it. >>> :diablo:

I have a "Get well soon" card for my wallet that I'll need all of you to sign.

What about a feigao 10L? I run one in my crt.5ext and without pushing it I get 1100+ watts out of it on 4s. The 8xl might me good too but I think the idea of a lighter, slightly faster spinning motor would benefit you...

Bye:mdr:

What's_nitro? 10.21.2007 12:14 AM

Well the thing with fans is that for a given thrust figure, the fan is required to rotate at a finite speed. At a given speed, the fan requires a finite amount of power to maintain that speed. If I were to use a smaller motor it would still use the same amount of power and run at the same speed to produce the same amount of thrust as a larger motor. That larger motor, however, would run much cooler. If the smaller motor were made to run at higher speed it would create more thrust but also require much more power. One of these days I'll get a wattmeter and see how much power it's actually taking to make this thing go.

suicideneil 10.21.2007 08:16 AM

The fact the new chassis had a brake system pre-installed is a big bonus. Plus its ideal for mounting 2 Lipo packs into, and isnt overly expensive to buy. This should be fun....

What's_nitro? 10.22.2007 07:02 PM

Yeah - I'm really liking that brake system. I has a fairly large brake disc also, being a 1/8 car, so there should be plenty of stopping power between that and all four wheels being attached to it.

Here's the NEW list:

1: Feigao 8XL (x2)
2: MM ESC (x2)
3: MaxAmps 4s 4000mAh LiPo (x2) (have)
4: Futaba S9451 For Brake Servo (have)
5: Spektrum DX3.0 (have)

So I just need to buy the two Feigao's and the two MM's and then the assembly begins. Of course I'll give you more pictures and video so there's no need to beg for it.

Oh and when I get the new kit I'm going to start a different thread for it.

That is one sweet ride. Hey can they build me a miniature version of the fan's drive system? I'd love to run the NEW car with one big Neu connected to both fans and mounted real low.
