Thanks! |
Just a bump to see if there was any news about more 5mm rotors being available. Thank you
|
If anyone here bought the 6mm version 1717 and doesn't want it or need it let me know. I have a Boat project that will LOVE that motor.
|
Hi, any news about the 5mm shaft availability ?
Can someone confirm that all the new 1717 motors will be shipped with 5mm shaft ? Besides, will be the new shaft a full-5mm one or it will be reduced from 6 to 5 just on the part coming out from the can (just to know if the bearings will be the same of 15xx motors) ? Bye, Andrea. |
^^ My 5mm shaft is 6mm at the bearings.

Has anyone cut the wire length down on the 1717 motor? I know on Castle's site it says OK TO SHORTEN WIRES but I want to be sure before I do.
|
It's cool, go for it ! I chopped an inch off mine as well.
Dont cut more than couple inches though, the wires might have a coating that makes soldering impossible. |
Hmm I need to cut them by half, hopefully that won't be a problem.

I found myself in this position once and I had to use a Butane micro torch to burn off the "varnish" and then scrape the wire clean. Hope you can remedy your situation however you do it ? |
100watt iron to the rescue?
I put EC5 and 5.5mm bullets on the 10g wires with no trouble at all, and all I have is a crappy 45watt iron- just use a broad tip and leadfree solder.... |
Well it appears that the AIR version of the 1717 has wires more like a NEU motor and they should not be shortened. I am going to have to find a way to get the coating off the wires so I can resolder them. I think Castle should change the info on their site to say its OK to shorten the Car motors ONLY!
