Castle is making it difficult to not spend more money for sure

DrKnow65 11.26.2010 10:20 PM

Placed an order today for one (yes, it was tough to only order one) 1518 for my upcoming hyper 7 build :-)

Never could have justified this purchase at market value...
Castle ROCKS!

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

HELP... OK so I have been watching this thread/sale since it started, but have been a little bit werry about making a purchase. From what I have read the 1717 is my target, but I am still not sure. I have several SuperMaxx style trucks setup in various different ways. I am kind of interested in getting another motor that will eventually end up in a high speed test project. I just want a motor that will hold up well to high speed runs pushing a truck that weighs about 15lbs - 18lbs. I still have no real idea what batteries will end up on this project, but it could be anything from 14-30volts depending on what ESC's end up being tested in the setup. So what motor would be a good choice for my plans that will give me some versatility? OH and hopefully whatever you suggest is still available???

bryan 11.27.2010 07:22 PM

Jerry if it was me I would go ahead and get a 1717 ,and a 1520 .Three pounds is a lot! I have the 1717 in my lst xxl and have the 1520 in both of my boys muggys. None of them break a sweat!!!

JERRY2KONE 11.27.2010 07:37 PM

1717 it is.

I think I will go ahead and get one of the 1717's then. I have a 1520, a 1521, and now I have a 1527 as well. I want to have plenty of options with this project in trying to reach my goal of going well over 100mph when the time comes. That way if one fails for whatever reason I can just switch out the motor/ESC combination and keep right on trucking. Weight is not really that much of a big deal for me. I still believe that having a reasonable amount of weight is required to keep things stable and on the ground. I have seen way too many people trying to go light on a high speed project and watch it fly away completely obliterating their projects. Watching how they do things at the Boniville salt flats tells me that you have to find a happy medium in weight in order to reach ones goal and still have a vehicle left at the end. anyway thanks for the advice. Now to see if there are any 1717's left and how much are they?

JERRY2KONE 11.27.2010 07:54 PM

I see what you mean.

Now I see what you mean. I went into the CC store and loaded up the cart with a 1717 motor and saw the final checkout price with shipping for like $62 and just had to add a second motor. At that price I just could not pass it up. This way I have a backup of two 1717 motors for $100. Great deal for my hard earned money. Now that we are heading for Prague New Year I will have to get my hands on a few MGM ESC's to use in this porject. I still have not made up my mind about the batteries yet though. I figure after Xmas prices will fall even more and give us a chance to make some really really good deals on LiPos. Thanks again for the advice. There will be a thread about this project next year some time once I get everything I need in hand. Have a great Xmas and New Year guys.

Guys I love Castle as much as the next guy but this just isn't right IMO. I honestly don't have time to call during business hours due to college and finals are coming up. I just want this taken care of. I was mislead into believing I'd be getting a 1520 gratis, which I thought was an excellent way to deal with the order mix up. I wouldn't have minded just paying for the motor anyways, they're dirt cheap. But I was told something and now Mr. Chase is giving me the run around saying he was only talking about a MMM I'd sent in.

Dear Daniel,

The only thing I was involved with was the replacement Mamba Monster that you have received in the mail.. If you were going to purchase a motor or if the tech department was going to send one of those out it is not something I was informed of.. Please contact tech department if they said they were going to send on of those out to you. They can be reached at 913-390-6939 ext1, or can be emailed at support@castlecreations.com Thank you.

Hey Charles,

Any Update on getting a 1520 sent out to me? I live away from home and received a shipping notification from CC a few days after your last email and assumed it was the 1520. Today I arrived for the holidays and It turned out to be a replacement MMM I'd been waiting on for a couple months that finally arrived. Is there going to be a new shipment of 1520 motors or not because as far as I know they're being discontinued?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving,

Daniel Castaneda

Dear Daniel,

I am sorry for the mix up.. for some reason your order was shipped to a Victory RC and they are in the process of sending that back to us... I am going to set you up for another one to be sent to you. Right now we do not have these in stock so we will have to wait until this comes to stock. I am very sorry for this mix up and you will be receiving this for free for sure. Thank you for your patience and we will get you hooked up.

Not to be impatient but I never received any shipping info on my order. I understand the high volume of orders you must be receiving due to the motor sale but this is a bit excessive. Daniel Castaneda

No the sale is still going on. I just ordered mine a few days ago.

So thats the Neu 1717 sitting on the Pepsi can? WOW that is one very big motor. I have two coming my way now for $100. I love it. That thing should not have any problems pushing my SuperMaxx high speed project around. 17-18 lbs over 100 mph. Very cool looking motor for a 1/8th scale R/C toy. I will be using a center diff drivetrain with an Hot Bodies hardened diff unit. This is getting interesting. I still think I will try to match up with a Plettenberg Bolido motor for a comparison, since I will soon be living in central Europe(Prague). Getting my hands on the MGM ESC's and plettenberg motors will be easy. I look forward to posting up some results next year.
