Cody, are you saying that your XL has LED's???

My original never showed any flashes, solids, or any light at all until it was arcing (bright!)...

Yes, mine too.

It has the standard three color leds (when calibrating: green - forward, red - backward and yellow - neutral)

Bye, Andrea.

Dont know with who i spoke but he was very nice! Thanks for phone conversation. I ordered from towerH Mamba XL, CC bec pro and CC quick connect wire.

Knez

It does have all 3 LED's, but it does not have a switch; sorry for the mix-up. I let Bernie know that it does not include the switch for future reference. Thanks!

Well, I'll be staring into the shiny glow of those LED's in a few short hours as my replacement XL has arrived WOOOOHOOOO!!!

I wish there was a like button. I would press it.

For my next magic trick I'll be stuffing a Mamba XL into a Losi 8 buggy
With a Castle Creations conversion kit no less

Heres a screen shot of one of my logs. Can some one else post something similar? Preferably someone who is using some "nice" batteries. I want to compare the voltage dropoff (if any) of these turnigy (supposedly 40c sustained 50c burst) lipos against a higher quality lipos.

Thomas, no problem at all!

P.s: I forgot to tell/ask this CC staff yesterday...on ur site i think u got a word writen wrong... It says "Are u looking for something specfic?" Should it be "specific"? Just ignore if i am wrong... as English is not my language =)

I would recommend also comparing the voltage ripple values. It will give you a better idea of how much you're "stressing" the controller and batteries due to the batteries amperage output capabilities.

Here's a link to a post by Patrick on ripple voltage: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...2&postcount=11

It explains what it is and acceptable ranges. Being that you're around 32 volts, anything below 2.2V is good, 2.3 - 3.2V is okay, 3.2-3.8V is marginal and somewhat risky, and anything above 3.8V could potentially damage the batteries and/or the ESC.

haha yea, that should be specific, I'll let the webmaster know on Monday so he can get that fixed.

I checked the ripple on the log and the Max during that session was 2.26. I just noticed though that with all the data parameters being logged the XL only logs 8 minutes of data (must be a memory capacity thing). I would like to try and capture the entire run so i can see how the pack behaves at closer to LVC (25.6V). Thomas, would you say that the "Ripple" is the most important data to monitor regarding a batteries ability to supply the required current?

Steve

DrKnow65 01.29.2011 09:41 PM

It was said that the ripple won't change much over time, so I'm not sure once the setup is "set up" that you need to check it regularly.

You can change the frequency/resolution of the data log in the parametrs to capture more minutes of your run.

I would say IMHO that battery voltage drop at the highest current rating is the single most important factor in showing battery quality.
I.e. If you floor it with good traction does the minimum voltage stay a few tenths above the LVC?

lincpimp 01.29.2011 10:14 PM

Yeah, find your highest amp load and see what the voltage is doing. If you are above 3.5v per cell your batteries are doing well.

With these large scale heavy conversions I can imagine looking at the lowest voltage during the run will be the determining factor. Will weed out the "boys" from the "men" lipo-wise.

Can we get some ESC/Motor combos to Monster Mike so I can buy one from him?
