and based on these measurements 165 x 47.5 x 62 can such a lipo fit into your battery tray on his side + using jumbo servo's?

Hi.

When mounted that way, you can fit battery 167 (lenght) x 51 (height) x 74 (width) and you can use jumbo servo

Personally if going from scratch I would get the Baja

If you had a flux then I'd go for the conversion...

Riko 12.18.2010 01:11 PM

hehe thx, could you say why because if I was to made a choice now I would say Flux because of the 4WD, or is this not a valid reason to choice one over the other?

What if you wanted 4wd ?

toplakd 12.18.2010 01:19 PM

If you dislike baja, and like 4wd, you can alway buy yourself an FG or other 4w gasoline monster truck such as Hörmann, Lauterbacher, MCD .... and convert it to brushless.

For all conversions you can always contact some RC-parts makers such as ALZA RACING (me) , RC-monster, GCM Racing .....

Depends on where you are from I suppose. In the States, FG/MCD dont have a very big presence so parts, etc. aren't all that available. Let alone Hormann or Lauterbacher. Savage, even Baja, parts and upgrades, etc. are all over the place.

There is also supposed to be a new "Redcat" 4WD 5th scale buggy that is going to come electric. Granted its a Chinese rebadged that will probably be sold under several different brands, but it looked decent.

Yeah, I'm only familiar with cars available in Europe.
HPI Baja is available all over the world only minus for some is lack of 4wd.

yeah indeed that is my question before :)

but at those big sizes 1/5 and kinda 1/5 (flux conversion) does 4WD have a big value?
What would win? a Flux on 6s? or a Baja on 8s?

and would the difference be noticable from 8s Baja to 10s baja?

coolhandcountry 12.18.2010 02:39 PM

Depends on what you do with it.
High speed 4wd won't have much if any help.
Hill climbing and such 4wd would be more important.

Riko 12.18.2010 02:42 PM

I am more of a asphalt guy - speed run freak - tracks.

only an ocasional jump - climping - bashing type

This rcm kit

Once this RCM kit is available there will be tons of Baja 5b's out there for us to see, but how many Savage Flux trucks will be converted in this way, zero. So I hope you do fab up this project so we can see how it works out for you. Considering the savings in weight I would say it will be quite a fast toy to play with. Why not loose the tranny and use a center diff in place of that to save a few mm in room for the batteries?
