Wow, sick looking conversion man! Its really gotten me thinking....

macr0w 03.31.2008 09:24 AM

I would like to thank R/C Monster Mike for his parts and service with this conversion.

I started getting into 1/8th scale conversions from the R/C Product Designs thread on the R/C Tech site. I read and read that thread over and over. And I even ordered one of Dans kits back in December. I have yet to receive it.

I hate that I ordered his kit first, but what matters now is what is in my car and running great.

R/C Monster motor mount for Mugen
R/C Monster Battery Tray
Polyquest 25c 4s 5000 mah battery
Castle ubec
And other misc parts all from R/C Monster!!!

Thanks again Mike! :mdr:

Now all I need is to keep some tires on this thing. :mdr: :mdr:

So how has your runtime been with the 4S 5000mah battery? Do you know when you will get to test the setup in track conditions?

macr0w 04.05.2008 09:43 PM

It seems to be pretty good, but I can't seem to get an extended run in without tearing a tire or two off the rims.

I have run on and off for 20 or 30 minutes or so. I ran around my backyard track for at least 30 minutes on and off.

I have my lvc set to 13.2 so that may cut me back a few minutes. Better safe than sorry. :mdr:

If it will stop raining I take her down to The Grove and try to get some practice in. I'll post back with the results.

macr0w 04.16.2008 05:54 PM

Well, here's the results from running down at The Grove.

After 3 trips to the track

Trip 1: Thermaled out 5 times. ESC got to 210 degrees.

Trip 2: Thermaled out once, broke a front a-arm all in about 30 minutes

Trip 3: Ran around pretty good. Went to an 11t pinion from the 12t I had been using. The on/off switch wires were shorting out under the board and it kept cutting on and off for a while until I figured out what was happening. Thermaled out once, LVC'ed once and then caught on fire. :mdr:

I wonder if the Glassdoctor will give a warranty on this? :mdr:

Cain 04.16.2008 06:59 PM

Good news, Mamba Monster should be available soon!

dezfan 04.17.2008 01:01 AM

Damn, that toasty!

Like Cain stated, the Monster should eliminate this problem.

macr0w 04.26.2008 10:50 PM

Well, Thanks to Glassdoctor I'm back in business.

I'm going to try real hard to keep this thing alive until my MMM shows up.

Thanks again GD. :mdr:

New Video

Well, I went and bought for $7.00 at Wallyworld, the Hot Wheels radar gun.

It is supposed to be accurate up to 100 mph or so it claims. I thought it would be great to clock my buggy for some speed runs. It only has a range of 40 feet but I figured I could still catch it.

So I headed out to my local huge parking lot for some speed runs and to get a video of the whole thing for the record.

Well the car ran great. But the Hot Wheels radar gun didn't work very well. I made pass after pass and it never registered more than 10 mph. If I run slowly and directly at the gun I got a reading of 15 mph once. But the high speed stuff was useless. I have a new theory that I want to try so I may give it another shot.

Here's a brief video of a couple of runs. She's real fast we just don't know how fast.
This is with a 12t pinion on the stock 46t spur.

Just for the record: this is an offroad buggy that really does get run offroad. I'm heading down to the Hobby Stop today as a matter of fact for some track time. I only run it on pavement for the speed runs.

Just to up date my thread. :mdr:

Friday night at The Grove she started cogging bad then next thing I know she went up in flames.

I'm just glad my brand new 6000mah Polyquest wasn't damaged
