Just PM'd one of the Losi reps, Rich Trujillo. He didn't work on the project for the 8E, but this is what he had to say about it:
"Hi Brian,
Here is a link to the motor specs etc.http://www.losi.com/Products/Default...rodID=LOSB9557
All the parts should be out in late September.
Although I was not involved with this project, I have seen it run in testing and to me it was just crazy how good it was...yes I know I work for Losi, but I'm telling you, it works awesome and I might actually have to convert my 8 since I have always hated Nitro LOL

Rich"
I asked if he could come up with the actual measurements for us, so hopefully he'll be able to.

Does anyone see the the esc only price? It just may come out before the MMM does. Novak is the one really screwed here tho. The HV system just looks like a dinosaur. I don't understand what they are doing trying to milk that thing out w/ "5mm upgrade" kits when now the OEMs have better controllers. Nice going losi (and nice to see they got it out before TRX ;) )

Novak can and will milk the dinosaur because Bob Novak is the ROAR motor committe chair and he wont approve anything thats better than Novak re: Castle. He's going to have a harder time telling Losi thier stuff cant be approved. It really makes ROAR look bad.

I made the mistake of buying two of these for my sons. we spent big bucks trying to harden them. worst RC product and Losi wouldnt stand behind them.
Add the Muggy to this experience - again they wont admit it has major design flaw and i wont buy their kit.
I compete with my Mugen against the 8's and they are a good ride but thats about all i have seen from Losi in terms of high Quality.

It is very cool however that we have more competition in the space now as it will raise the bar for everyone. It hopefully will nudge Traxxas as well.

Hey Kingaflow - that link to the spec's doesnt seem to work?

gramey 08.21.2008 05:03 PM

I'm actaully a little disappointed that Losi a marketing a conversion kit rather than a complete electric 8B/T, perhaps that will follow. It will be interesting to see how the esc & motors stack up against the competition though.

I just watched the RCTV live episode with the Xray 808 . The team driver mentions that Xray might be releasing an electric version in the future .

looks like the ball is starting to roll

gixxer 08.23.2008 01:07 PM

ffactory666 08.23.2008 06:25 PM

If that date is accurate there not too far away .
What's Losi like with release dates ?

CRTIM 08.24.2008 02:10 AM

being new to this...will any of the new Losi combo's be a good choice for a 1/8 CRT Truggy ?? ...still trying to figure out a motor/esc for my conversion...until i can afford a neu..lol...thanks for the help

DRIFT_BUGGY 08.24.2008 02:37 AM

Well the Losi combo is more than what the CC/Neu Combo is listed at

It's nice to finally see one of the big companies with an electric conversion, but I would have liked to see a chassis along with it, that is more suited for an electric layout. Also, they should add the option to be able to use motor brakes and possibly a slipper with the center differential. Once the electric 1/8th scale becomes more popular with sanctioned races and the like, I bet that all of those will be available.

From what I have seen, Losi usually doesn't even tell anyone about their new products until they are almost released, so I'm going to guess that they will be pretty close to their set release date.

Sweet , i have only dealt with AE , Kyosho and Yokomo in the past , AE being the worst with eta release dates .
