My perception on pricing is: When the latest and greatest product is released the manufacturer attempts to set there position in the marketplace, a "list price" and than retailers offer their "Market price", based on wholesale cost, typicaly about 10% lower. As the product gains acceptance in the market place, supply and demand begin to equalize, the market price does so as well. Next I expect to see markey positioning "list price", to adjust further, to be more competitive with the ever growing competition. I suspect that Tower has there pricing set as a percentage of the wholesale cost, and as there existing inventory runs out they will adjust their price accordingly. Based on the wholesale cost of their new inventory. FIFO.

We saw this most recently with the new CRT. The fair market price in the first 30 days was the list price, as the supply began to increase, the market price has reduced by about 10%.

From someone who has recently cooked two new controllers using built in BEC within the specs, I HIGHLY recommend going with the UBEC right off the bat. On the connections, I say cover them all with shrink just to help prevent shorts. An ounce of prevention...

Whew, a lot going on in this post! thanks everyone for helping papa out(and thanks for the English and economics lessons from papa-guess you get a little and give a little back, heh :)). The heatsink is perfectly fine for the Lehner motor(I use it on mine), but the rear piece is not needed or recommended. :) The rear of the motor has the ability to be re soldered into a different configuration(so it acts like a slower turning motor), but shorting(or shortening as Dafni put it :)) across the solder points would certainly be bad!

Thinking ahead here. I intend to wire the UBEC as pictured below.
1: When mounting the UBEC is vibration a concern?
2: With respect to location, Must it be kept away from other components? IE...receiver, ESC, or motor?
3: I am considering attaching it to the unused "ear" of the GMAXX motor mount. Or where the traditional shifting servo would go on the Gmaxx Chassis. Suggestions?

vibrations it self is not a concern. I would put someting under it though. I had one short out on the metal threw the shrink wrap. on the servo ear sounds like a good spot to mount it.

For mounting Esc, receiver, and UBEC, my thought is to use High strength Velcro. I beleive that this will provide cushion from vibration, and possible shorting while maintaining a clean look. Will that handle it alone or add the ol' trusty zip ties?

I got mine straped to the front shock tower with a rubber band. The ubec is so light it don't take much to hold it on. Either spot would be good. If I mounted it to the motor mount ear. Build you a small bracket for it. I think that would look good and be functional.

I regularly use the high-strength velcro (the all-plastic type, not the fuzzy one) to mount ESCs and receivers in my vehicles. I only had one problem in my TC4 where the Novak Super Sport Brushless ESC popped off during a carpet race when I hit the wall. I also broke an outdrive, so the I had to stop anyway.

The velcro I like the best is one I bought at Radio Shack.

This is the type that is currently holding my Mamba ESC and my Hitec receiver in my Mini-T. I also used it to hold the new-style MGM 8012 in my Jato, as well as several other applications in previous vehicles.
