Yeah, the small stuff just takes longer than expected... Could be worse, at least the concept is sound.

Very nice. Those beadlocks look familiar. :)

Actually the ones that are not on the truck would look alot more familiar...

Made a little progress. Made the top support, both side fillers and the center and rear skids.

Pics show it mocked up with the moab tires. Need another pair of 23mm hexes and I can put the front wheels on. Still need to rebuild the front diff and swap the lst1 arms and hubs for lst2 parts. Also need to pick up another pair of aftershock shocks (running 4 of those in the rear to lose a little weight).

Thinking I may put the motor in front of the tranny, and the battery behind it. Still need to make the new center chassis plate, and the single servo will interfere with battery mounting in the front.

I also need to dye the green plastic side fillers/braces black, they look kinda funky in green (material was free, so I could not complain!). And i need to fab up a motor mount... Still plenty to do with this project...

Thnaks! I was either going to use one of the 18 wheeler style bodies from proline, or buy the tsr body (that body is kinda ugly...).

These 6x6 trucks are pretty cool. If someone made one w/all wheel steering.... I know that it would be a challenge but it would be pretty cool.

Ah! my only plan for the body was to find a large enough cab that might fit most of the wheel width under and then match that by buildin fenders like those on a real semi. Im in the same boat as you cant really find a body that tickles my pickle :)

On a side note do you have a picture of you plastic welder? been wondering what that looks like?

Pretty easy with this truck. You can install a lst steering setup for the center wheels, as the lst1 chassis is basically mirrored front to rear. As for the rear wheels, I would have to redesign the brace, but it would not be too difficult to do. I would have to use either an 1/8 scale style bellcrank setup, or make a shortened version of the stock chassis to connect the front to the rear. Either way it would not be too difficult. I stuck with fixed wheels as I plan to jump this truck, and the fixed lst2 rear hubs are much stronger.

I had contemplated building a cab for the front, but decided that a lexan body may be better as I do plan to beat the truck up...

I would like to do a larger scale semi build... Maybe I will keep a look out for a big body...

I have a smaller 6x6 that I am working on, it use tamiya tlt live axles. I plan to make a flat front semi style cab out of brake tube (mimic the shape of a semi cab at least) and have a full tilt/sliding bed like a flat bead wrecker. That way I can drive my scale crawler truck on it!

Change of plans...

So I was going to do a 6s setup with a MMM and a hacker c50xl. Well, I decided to do something more interesting. I have a 1521 2.5y smooth can motor and 10s lipo hanging around. I also have a lutach 10s esc that ids currently not in use.

So I came to this setup as i was deciding how to make the motor mount. Due to lack of clearance between the single servo and the tranny I could not mount the lipos up front. So I dedided that the motor would fit better there, and i could place the lipos behind the tranny. They are 2 5s packs, so one can sit in a cutom tray where the fuel tank normally sits, and the other could sit on its side in another cutom tray in the stock ntro engine location.

I planned to use some thick al flat stock to create a L shaped motor mount. But I started looking at the savage flux mounts and decided that they could be used to hold the motor in place. They would be much stronger than the L shaped mount, and support the motor at both ends. Since I am making another chassis plate I can put some slotted holes to allow for mesh adjustment. In order to get the desired speed, I will have to use 59/30 gearing. Motor speed is low, 10s lipo with the 2.5y is around 23k rpm. So it should run cool, but I hope it starts easy... I do still have the high/low selectable gearing in the tranny, and I think I will be in low gear most of the time, so it should not matter too much.

I fully plan on pulling the front wheels...

brushlessboy16 04.17.2009 12:50 PM

with all that traction becomes an issue

Updates!

So I got some more work done on the truck tonight.

Added full lst2 front suspension, 6 aftershock shocks and modded 2 more Cen 23mm hexes to fit the front axles. Mounted up the last 2 tires and set it on the ground to eyeball it. Completely blown away by how well it articulates. That is a std size 12oz al can under it in the pics. I have a feeling I will be finishing this up pretty soon!

thats sexy!

If only you could find a trans with a really low first gear to crawl, and a decent speed gear for everything else.

Hmmm... Revo 6x6 ;)

I have that, the stock lst tranny has a manually selectable high and low gear. Low is 4:1 and high is 2.something:1. So if I gear for 35mph or so in high I can switch down to low for about half of that speed and bunch more torque.

BL_RV0 06.12.2009 07:55 PM

Very nice!
