The "town car" goal will be much easier to achieve. Why use 15, 6V batteries though? Why not just 8, 12V batteries? It would make your wiring much less complicated.

Funny. I will use the 6v batts as they will offer more watt/hrs, so more range.

James, look at the 914 electric conversion. It's a decent set up and will be more then enough for your needs.

Ok, will do!

Gell cells

Wouldn't gell cells give you the same bang for your buck at a lower power to weight ratio? Gell cell prices have come down a little in the last two years, and I am willing to bet that you can find a fair deal through one of the battery wholesalers.

Do you mean AGM batts? I use one in my motor cycle. Not much better than lead acid for bang for the buck... I was going to use lifepo, but they are still a bit new and expensive.

Yea but considering what you are trying to accomplish wont the gell cells be a better choice over lead acid for the weight difference in keeping your load down? Just curious.. Sorry don't know about the Lifpo line either.

I have priced some gell cells and they seem a bit much... Looks like 12 6v batts will do what I need, and not cost much over 700 bucks...
