I kinda meant it like "Hey you figured it out so lets see some video of this truck driving around now." My humor doesn't carry well through type. :mdr: That's very cool, though. I haven't figured out the animations in Inventor yet.

I know, I fight sarcasm with more sarcasm :yipi:

Is there any updates?
Pictures that you could post?

MetalMan 06.07.2009 08:07 PM

Somewhat of a teaser:

The project of mine from which the above picture was taken has used up a good portion of my free time, but now it's pretty much done :rules: and will be turned in tomorrow. As a result I have nothing physical to show updates of.

And the shock bodies are set to transparent in that image.

Looks awesome MM!

And here's more... I would have showed the ensuing images in a single video file to demonstrate its mobility, but the truck assembly within SolidWorks is apparently too complex for my laptop (shouldn't be the case though - it's custom made and has good specs). So pictures will have to suffice:

Front suspension:

Rendered wheel showing model tree (to get an idea of what I did to make the wheel):

Any updates on this?

MetalMan 08.07.2009 02:11 AM

Yes

Today the truck went on its maiden voyage! First impressions: it's very quiet, except for the motor and tires, and the rear belt skipping. The front belt is tensioned by no less than 2 springs, and the rear belt has a fixed tensioner which needs to be tightened. Previously the belts were skipping A LOT but has been mostly fixed with two rods connecting the front/rear shock towers to greatly reduce chassis flex.

Pics should be up tomorrow, and vid will be posted sooner or later.
