Hi Guys,

Couple of questions:

Has anyone smoked their RX8 ESC yet???
Would they be considered more reliable, or should I say less prone to failure than the MMM?
Is everyone using motor braking successfully without blowing CAPS?

cheers

Hey guys, I finally got an RX8 System so I thought I'd post up a few comments, answering a few of my own questions in this thread...

• I bought my RX8/2050 combo from A Main last week. As soon as it arrived I opened the motor to see if it was a new style or old style rotor, it was the new one.

• Fit in my Losi was great but the Servo lead was too short, an extension is needed if you are mounting it where the ESC is designed to go on a Losi 2.0 conversion.

• I raced it hard yesterday. Ran wonderful. Very smooth, considerably smoother than the Losi I had in my buggy. We run 12 minute A mains at my track, took home the win! (2nd place was also electric...3rd was nitro...)

• The 2050 buggy motor ran great but geared the same had a little less kick than the Losi 2100 I replaced. I'm not dissatisfied at all, just making an observation.

• I bought the Hotwire but aside from Timing changes, I'm not sure one actually needs it. Nice to have but the LEDs on the ESC are like nothing I've seen, very slick.

Glad it worked out. The Hotwire is also used for software upgrades when they come out...

Where is your timing set now?

Thanks, I forgot about the Software/Firmware updates, that is the thing which tipped me over to getting hotwire. I know you guys are working magic daily so when that magic goes release grade, I want it on my ESC...

My timing is at 10 right now. Not really sure what the scale of the adjustment is but I wanted to leave it "factory" and start with a safe, reliable setting. Do you think I should move it up?

TekinTeamMgr 07.13.2009 11:33 AM

Dave, you can try more. 10 is a great place to start for sure. Go up to 20 and see what you think. I don't go much over 30 with most motors.

Just another reason to have the Hotwire. You WILL notice the difference in timing.

I'm trying my buggy 2050 on 35 since i'm undergeared and can't move up to a higher pinion due to my motor mount holes. 62 spr/16t pinion on my F8T.

Ouch!

My new style rotor is still alive, raced it again this past weekend. One practice, two 5 min Quals and one 12 min main, held up just fine. Finished 3rd this week...

Ouch! Well Castle had their problems looks like Tekin is getting their fair share aswell. Still two great systems.

So far none of the new rotors have failed....

Yeah turns out that I never actually sent you an e-mail which is why I never received a response. My client decided not to send it and not to tell me, along with a whole bunch of other e-mails I tried to send. Anyway I called and a new rotor should be here any day now.
