Hey Jordan, the car is coming really well. I ran it with the speedy and data logger and it all went very well. It had HPI phaltlines and at 1/4 throttle and 8s it was breaking traction and swinging the back end around. I am very surprised at how much torque this motor has. Whats more surprising is that when i pulled it apart to check things like bearings and mounts i found that the rear output from the center diff was rubbing on the motor can. And it still broke traction.
It is still apart at the moment at a machine shop having some pieces made up and modified. I have also changed the speedy to a 40.160WK. It is huge, i should have made a trailer to put the ESC on. How is your truck going |
Good to hear! Sounds like some insane power :gasp: We should definately have a run in the summer when i back in perth :great: What custom parts are you doing, im curioous to see how you mounted that massive schulze
Not too sure about mine right now, i reconnected the MGM, but its still getting quite hot, and the gearing is reasonable, what top speed is yours geared for? Ive got a final drive ratio of roughly 12:1, and estimated top speed of 93kmh/58mph. And how do your temps run? I was considering moving upto 6s and then gearing down to try and get the temps lower  |
We should definitely get together for a bash in the summer time. The parts i am getting milled up are hush hush for the moment but stay tuned. To mount the huge speedy i took a leaf out of your book and made 4 rises and a CF plate that sit above the motor and bolt to the chassis.
here are the speed numbers so far 10/44=66km/h I will probably run between 11-15 which puts me at 50-60 mph. But i do have pinions that go all the way to 25t 25/44=102MPH I think 102 is a little extreme for what i want 40-50 normal 60 for speed runs sounds good to me As for final gearing with 10/44 i sit at 18.92:1. I guess that leaves room to grow |
if you want to get your temps down have you thought about trying a lower kv motor say a 1527 1.5D
|
ooo nice i cant wait. Thanks for the figures, i might try gearing down, maybe between 40-50 with 5s, then with 6s it should be up around the 55 mark with a 15.8:1 ratio. Hhaha, 102mph, id definately like to see that. Thought about the motor change, but id have top run higher voltages, then need a new esc blah blah blah, just seems like alot of hard work  Im thinking of a 1/16th erevo build now that ive seen those Tenbol mounts
|
Yeah i have on order at my LHS and i just bought a Ofna DM 1 Pro to replace my IGT. I was having a think at work about your speedy heat issue and one thing that came to mind is the actual size of the MGM. I spoke to schulze when purchasing mine and they said that the 24.150 would be too small to dissipate the heat for a 1521 and recommended the 40.160 which is almost twice the size. It is longer than my motor by alot. Now consider the MGM 5 boards of circuitry stacked high for a small footprint but no where for the heat to go. A new bigger speedy could solve the heat issue. I know who i would recommend and than a new 1527 to go with it:whistle::whistle:
|
dude that DM-1's a beast, are you gonna leave it nitro?
hmmm, thats an interesting point about the size of the esc, makes sense not being able to dissipate the heat. Maybe some active cooling is needed  and btw, what CD weight oil are you running, im only running 50k weight, it handles really well, but unloads before it loses traction on grass, im thinking i need to get more power down!!! |
NO i am not going to leave it nitro. I was thinking a tekin truggy system. Or a My 1521 for this and a low kv 1527 for my G3
I think i am running 50K in my center as well. There is a thread on here in the brushless section called Brushless 1/5 scale that talks about water cooling there truck with PC processor water cooling systems. I sent my MGM in for repair again. I really want to sell it if you want a spare or know anyone that wants one. |
ok nice, the 1521 would be killer in the DM1. Hmmm, 50k as well, ill see how it goes with the different gearing when i get back, maybe give it a bit more punch. The MGM youre getting rid of is a 28025 right? Is it the model with the fans installed?
|
Yes its a 28025-3 Z series. It did not have the fans installed but i have some for it, so yes it has fans. Also has a black box data logger
|
Thats a sweet set up man. I want it. I don't run nitro anymore especially after running a 3.3 brushless myself... I just gotta get one of those chassis and do the center diff. Looks so much better than a revo tranny. So I found my next project. LOL
|
Yeah i will be posting some updates with photos in the next few days stay tuned it`s almost done:party:
I cant wait to get it out onto the road to see what it will do. I have ran it with a 1515 1y on 4 and 6s and it handles uber well. Top speeds and acceleration should be just as impressive as long as i can keep the nose on the ground. Might have put some weight up front. |

hey sv6000 that thing looks sweet

Ok guys so sorry for the delay but it is finally done, i just got back in from doing some all round testing and everything looks good so far. The only thing left to do is some hard core testing with my eagle tree and post some photos.:party:
