Looks can be deceiving...
People have been using the LST2/ MUGGY/ Aftershock diffs & their alloy cases as an upgrade for standard maxx and even revo diffs- equal to UE stuff pretty much only vastly cheaper. |

Nobody that I know of runs them in a Savvy, but I have Muggy diffs with the LST aluminum cases in my Muggy and they are bullet-proof. The LST XXLs have aluminum diff cups as well as the cases but my Muggy with the plastic cups has been exceptionally durable. When it comes to stock diffs, you'll be hard-pressed to find ones tougher than these Losi diffs and they can be had on eBay for $20 or less.

I was reading on a big Savage site a while back about people using all sorts of truggy and other 1/8 diffs in their Savs w/o a whole lot of luck. It seems like there is some inherent weakness in the case design that allows otherwise strong gears to strip more easily. The flux does have "HD" cases, but IDK if it makes a difference. It could be the Losis are so good as they are already in their own cases. Losi is likely SAE bearings and won't work w/ metric housings.

this is pissing me right off. the back diff on my flux, is NOT the bulletprof diff that it says comes with the flux, and the internal Bigget gear, that sits in a spinning PIN, keeps on breaking, the gear is on the right hand side,( the side without the ring gear). and the bottom of the gear just shreds, the pin breaks in 3. and I HAVE NOT DONE DONUTS, OR UNLOADED THE DIFFS IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE!!
|
No where do they say the Flux comes with the bulletproof diffs. The new diffs are an upgrade to the stock ones.
Its not "donuts" that kills diffs, its typically standing backflips (even though they show them on their promo vid). |
@Jtiessen, I've read that the newest Fluxes would be coming with the new bulletproof diffs, also makes sense to me since that way HPI doesn't have that many complaints anymore. Besides now they often send the bulletproof diffs for free so it will cost them double (old and new ones + shipping). Altough off course first all the 'old' Fluxes need to be sold before the new ones will be sold.

Has anybody who is running the new bullet proof flux diffs managed to break them yet? I was blowing through diffs before upgrading and have not had any problems since the upgrade.
