So my acers came today, they are smooooooth! I will be tearing down my revo, re-building diffs and installing new bearings over the next little while...eta is about 2 weeks till completion....as long as my 3mm carbon fiber plate comes in for the next big-ish modification.....
|
What are you going to be doing with the carbon fiber sheet?
|
I'm cutting the tops of my battery trays, doing a mod similar to HighKalibre's tray mod, but with CF, so I can comfortably run 4s 5000's and 5s 4000's. Carbon should be here by the end of next week, hopefully have everything cut out over the weekend, unless the old lady has something else planned....

curious to see how you go with it- been thinking bout just cutting a CF sheet bout 4-5mm thick and building some dropper bays for batts but base it on the revo chassis- have to make some sort of skid plate for it all though

lol have fun putting it all back together im going to try and finish off noob and get a good start on my tekin revo tonight

Here's the rough cut chassis:

I am interested to how this is going to turn out.

Maybe put it where one of the stock servos go since you are only using one. May have to trim the sides a little to get it to fit though.

Nope, thats what the Carbon fiber is for, the esc and the r/x will be going in the same place they were, but on a cf plate above the batt tray. I will be using the 4 batt vent screw holes to mount it, using cf tube as the spacer between the chassis and the plate, giving enough room to allow the 4s 5k's and 5s 4k's, allowing for about 37mm in tray height. The only thing I need to find out is if cf can be tapped or if I need to bolt though it.

bolt it through cut straight sections of the deck you have cut off as sandwich spacers then drill through them and the carbon fibre to match the pre existing holes on the chassis infront and behind the battery compartment sections- there might even be enough room to prefit a couple of tony's brass inserts.
My 2 cents worth. |
Is the right side pack gonna rub the motor mount plate ?
Unless the CF is 7mm thick or more you can't tap it and it last. Keep up w/the updates and progress ! |
tap the plastic not the CF- use a tony's brass insert in the plastic if need be use a washer on top of the CF for mounting that way theCF becomes part of the chassis like a giant brace rather than just a nice looking deck.

Should get some killer run time with 2 4k 4s. Looks good so far man. Keep us posted.
