I got my stuff today! Good news and bad news. The good news is that the chain installation went off without a hitch. I measured the length, and hacked the heck out of a link until my master link would work on it. Now the bike has the old electric scooter whiz sound I remember.
Bad news is that the 5k pot I got isn't the right pot. :diablo: I re-tested the pot off the servo tester and it is a 20k pot. :diablo: Is there any way I can make my 5k pot work? Maybe add some resitors or change some settings on the esc? http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302003.jpg before tightening http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302004.jpg |
i use an turnigy servo tester for throttle on my e-scooter
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=6554 and i modded it with the insturctions from a guy at endless-sphere to use it with standard bike throttles http://endless-sphere.com/forums/vie...php?f=2&t=9413 |
I see. I think it's just my servo tester uses a 20k pot and I need a 5k pot. I'll look into getting that servo tester my next order from hobbycity. Thanks!

With the incorrect pot you will get 1 of 2 things
a. you will never get full travel to the tester b. the signal that the tester sees will be very narrow like full lock one way will be 1/16th of an inch. you need the correct one for it to work correctly |
Whats your run times? or have you really tested it yet. im thinkg about doing a mini bike or pocket bike instead. and i have seen a pocket bike that looks exactly like yours and its allready electric. but is this the one you have? the motor mount on the one i saw looks like yours.
|
Well, it depends on how much capacity the batteries still have left in em. An estimate is 36wh/mi for this type of motor. If I was running 36v, my theoretical range would be 10mi. I don't think I'll come close though, with my leads and 24. Maybe 3-6 miles.

you should get a couple 6s 5000mah 20c turnigy lipos. they are $60 each and they should be more than enough for your setup........unless fat bastard (from Austin Powers) wants to take that bike for a spin.
|
Lipos are on my list. My list that is a "whenever I feel like upgrading this thing" list. I'll probably get 4 so in the future I can run 12s2p setups on bigger outrunners and bigger bikes..
But 2 might be enough for now.. Unless like you said, fat bastard tries to ride this thing. It'll need some serious power then!! |
I am gonna buy a pocket bike some time this week. i might go with a system form monster scooters or whatever. is your bike origonaly the 50cc gas version or was it allready electric? i saw one that looks identical to yours and was allready electric.
|
This one was already electric. It had a full 180 watts. Now it has a motor rated for 2400 watts. :diablo:
|
I dont want to copy you a whole lot but i think i might get the allready electric one. then i dont hve to make a new motor mount.
|
You'll probably still have to make a mount. Some motors are mounted with the front but most likely they'll be mounted by a plate welded to the bottom of the can of the motor.
|
oh ok, but its still alot cheaper than most, but i did find locally a gas one that is only a year old, he ran it a couple times but then he broke the pull start, selling for $60 canadian! the electric ones are around $70 used. Mabey i will just get the gasser.

****Performance Report****
I measured out a 1 mile loop. The terraing is extremely smooth asphault. It's ideal conditions minus a little wind. With the 10ah 24v sla pack, I got 5.5 good miles out of it and it died at 5.75 miles. I was able to limp back and finish the 6th mile. Average speed was about 10mph and avaerage mile times were about 5:30-6:00. Temps were about 105 controller, 90 motor, and the batteries were ambient. I don't know what top speed is, but on a fully charged pack it's probably 20-25mph. It seems like it's haulin when you're riding it. I had a more detailed, much longer post made up but I lost it all when my browser crashed.:diablo: Here's the video. It's after 4 miles, so most of the top end is gone. I edited the video my way.:gasp: Photobucket blocked my video with copywrite, and I'm sure youtube would, so here ya go on imageshack.
[Upload your own video] Here is the test route http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...ver1/route.jpg And here is my town. With a 5.5mi range, look at all the places I can go!:yipi: http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...lover1/map.jpg |
Awsome! I might be picking up my bike tomorow. Do you think this kit would be good?
