I am not able to check right now, i remember the one i read said 50 V 220u, don't know if it was the black or the brown. i am at home within a few hours, i will post that info as soon as i get home. I can't imagine they used two different types.

Have you got a 'real' 9918? and can you measure it? (weight?)

RC-Monster Mike 03.08.2005 09:15 AM

All the 9918 controllers I have had look the same. I didn't pick up on the stickers until a customer pointed it out, so I doubt there will be any weight difference.

patch 03.08.2005 10:03 AM

Hey MadDog

I had a similar problem you did, but mine worked afterwards.

I would drive the truck normally, then if I stopped I would have everything else except no throttle. I checked for heat, bind, tried the thottle, then it would work normal. This happened on 2 runs, maybe 2-3 times. My last run of the day, the truck stopped again, this time I was able to get it moving by increasing the throttle trim on my stock radio.

I think the problem was 1 of the following: Cold weather, I think it was between 20-30 degrees. Or my stock. Since then, I have switched to a JR radio and the weather has been a tad warmer, but all I know is that I don't have the problem anymore.

Since brushless is new, maybe we are now seeing some issues, not neccessarily problems, but things we are experiencing.

My signature tells my setup.

Thanks for this experience, Patch. This is a Schulze issue that I haven't thought of relating to the BK controllers, but it is worth a try. I know the Schulze controllers need the throttle to be at zero to arm.
MadDog - please give this a try. I know brushless electronics in general are very specific on radio settings for safety reasons (built in failsafe).

MadDog 03.08.2005 02:44 PM

I have tried to reprogram the esc and even put it in a different channel. I am getting no response from it.

I dont even get any beeps from the controller when i try to reprogram the esc.

RC-Monster Mike 03.08.2005 03:42 PM

Have you tried to set your throttle trim and sub trim to zero and tried to program it?

MadDog 03.08.2005 04:26 PM

Yes.

crjackson 03.08.2005 05:32 PM

Mike,

My gearing right now is 16t/66t. Would you suggest I leave it the same when my replacement parts get here, or would you change it?

I only have the one pinion (5mm shaft) but I do have a 70t & 72t spur I could put on there.

MadDog 03.08.2005 07:04 PM

I just redid all the connections (dean plugs, UBEC, and wiring) on the esc to make sure they are all soldered nice and clean (looks tons better now). I also tested it with a stock e-maxx receiver and controller but still nothing. I am still getting NO beeps from the controller and no movement from the motor.

I have tried everything i can think of and nothing. I just dont understand why it just shut off like it did.

crjackson 03.08.2005 07:12 PM

MadDog,

I saw that it was suggested earlier that you try a separate rx pack, but I never did see if you tried it or not.

If you haven't tried that, would you please do so? I want your problems fixed too since the sypmtoms (aside from my heat) being the same. We both use the UBEC, and it could be the common denominator.

MadDog 03.08.2005 07:14 PM

I do not have a receiver pack other thank the UBEC (i built the truck from the ground up and didnt buy a receiver pack).

The UBEC should not be the problem though since the steering and transmission servo work 100% fine.

crjackson 03.08.2005 07:41 PM

I'd almost go buy one for you just so you could test. I wouldn't rule it out at this point. It shouldn't be that, but far stranger things have happened. My new motor/esc should be here tomorrow. Which means I'll have it going by this weekend. If I still have issues after a few days, I'll throw an rx pack on and let you know.

I don't think that would have anything at all to due with my heat issues, but who knows, I could have more than 1 problem.

Either way, I wish I could talk you into running to the store and busting out a few bucks for an rx pack to test with, they're really cheap...

MadDog 03.08.2005 07:43 PM

Come to think of it my T-Maxx has one, i will give it a try and report back.

RC-Monster Mike 03.08.2005 07:48 PM

crjackson,

thhe stock gearing should work fine. It wouldn't hurt to put the 72 tooth spur on, but you won't even give the 30150 a workout with that motor even with taller gearing.

MadDog,
I will send you a receiver pack to satisfy my curiosity. The UBEC should not be the problem, but I would like to make sure it isn't a factor. I have no idea why it suddenly cut out, but that is usually an indication of a battery problem (resistance from poor solder joints has caused this on some of my Schulze controllers).

MadDog 03.08.2005 07:52 PM

I hooked up my t-maxx battery box with brand new batteries, still natta from the esc or motor.
