I wanna jump in here before this thread gets locked, and archived/deleted..
Sure, it may be in a 2-car garage. What bothers me, is why they're not discussing WHY their packs are the highest. I won't lie, the heatshrink is quite fancy, cosmetics = A+, me, personally, have never, ever used MaxAmps, and I don't ever want to. Their prices are OUTRAGEOUS. And that's why I won't be able to ever try them. I think the reason they are selling so many, and are still in company is because they are active advertisers. Here's a question. Why has MaxAmps, especially Jason, never revealed REAL C graphs? I fondly remember, on a forum, where a graph was revealed, and Jason quickly shot it down, had the thread deleted, and never responded. Anyone down to do a REAL test on comparable tests? I'll be down to contribute a couple bucks for MaxAmps, Turnigy, etc, to do a legitimate graph, and such. |

Outstanding point, I think if their packs were obviously better, I would pay extra to buy them. Sort of like the difference between my Castle Motors and the Kershaw motor I have. Similar motors except one, the Castle, puts the other to shame. The difference in the motors is obvious and you pay the difference. The lipos there is no difference that I have ever encountered, yet you still pay a premium. |

Me too
I have a few MaxAmps packs and there is nothing different about them compared to any other Lipo pack purchased from China or Korea. I think the reason they get alot of the business is because of the advertising, the way they wrap and package their packs, and because alot of people think that by buying American that it is helping our economy. What they do not know is that the cells actually do come from China or Korea. So once again we are in the delema because the cells are foreign, but the packs are assembled in the USA. Leaving people to think they are buying an American made product. Not 100% ture USA made. Considering the markup of MaxAmps I only bought the first few packs when I first got into the hobby. Once I really looked into the Lipo business I decided not to purchase something that is priced with such inflated amounts for no good reason. Thats just my 2 cents since I do have some MA packs. Outside of that I do not have any issues with them as a company.

Since owning a Hyperion I should really update my profile picture. Not that I ever was a fan boy but, I did get my MA cheaply and they still push my Maxx plenty fast after a year and a half, but not like my Hype! and not for the price difference, I highly doubt I would be so lucky to get the packs I did so cheap again from MA. I don't think I'll ever own another MA, I like my Hyperion much better.

i've seen 2 puffed maxamps tx packs. i guess the transmitter was just too much for those 2500mah packs. maybe it was that tiny LCD screen that pushed them too hard
|
i have 11 turnigy packs, 4 i have had over a year, the other 7 for about 4 months. not a single failure/puffing yet. i have pounded the batteries several times running them 2 or 3 times in a day and recharging. the first 4 have also hit the ground quite often (they don't fit well in my emaxx and i didn't secure them well/broke the chassis and they fell out) and they are still tearing it up.
to me this is the test of quality. they last a long time and do what they are supposed to do. |
11 Turnigy packs! I hope they are not just for one R/C, or even 2, 3. I don't understand why people buy so many battery packs, heck I only have one pack for race weekends, HP G3, I use it at least 6-8 times a day for 2 days in a row, recharging immediately after running.

I would love to try one of their newer generation packs, log a few runs, and tear it apart to look at construction. But previous experience has left me extremely gun-shy. And even if the test results reflect their ratings, they are still way overpriced.
Eventually, as the BL crowd grows (and their knowledge), no amount of magazine ads will help them stay in business. People will learn (some the hard way) and sales will plummet. Seems like their business plan revolves around making as much money as they can off of people's trust for as long as it lasts. |
Yeah, what a difference, almost looks 'faked' there is so much of a difference. A123 pack has way more punch than that pack if it's for real.
