I wouldn't leave any lipos fully charged for "long periods" of time as its not good for the chemistry long term. How long you are talking about? A couple weeks is fine IMO, but more than that I would store at 50%. A decent charger will have a storage program, so it really shouldn't be an issue to store, then charge up the night before (or two) before you plan to take the truck out. A 12hr window is stupid BS and a sure sign of a scam.

Yeah, 12 hour window is a pile of poop- I've just done a long-term test on my old Zippy-H packs; they lost only ~200mah and ~0.10v after sitting fully charged for 6 months. Will test their punch and power pretty soon- summer leave is fast approaching, and its sunny for a change :mdr:

I'd only leave them charged for a couple of days or a week at most, not multiple weeks.

ZippyBasher 07.28.2010 12:51 PM

Leaving them stored fully charged can lead to a puffed pack as well... My dad bought some 5000mah 2s for his planes, charged them and never used them even once. Maybe 3-4months. Now they all have puffed cells.

Well he learned the hard way... But I have left packs charged for maybe a week or two and no problems.

Sold the 5T at long last, The "Frostbyte II" project has begun!

Freezebyte 07.28.2010 06:33 PM

Hmm ok, im also torn with buying two of these instead of the Dynamite Ultra so I can do 2 lipo's at once. Input? Are they quality chargers? The price is freaking awesome, even for two with shipping!

I think of them as the low-budget version of the Hyperion 606i- basically the same spec though the Hyperion does have a few more features for sure, but then again its $55 vs ~$110.

Alot of US companies are selling re-branded chinese chargers for a massive markup ( see: venom chargers ), so if you want a truelly good brand then Hyperion or the iCharger are top-dog.

If you wanna buy a load of stuff from Hobbyking at once, then look at the various options; as I've said to alot of people lately, you can compare the various options for a week and not make a decision because you get torn between the top-quality $$$ option or the cheap and cheerful $ options.

I've been recommending the AC6 as its A) cheap B) does everything C) pretty simple/ idiot proof D) hobbypartz have good customer care apparently. Buy one, see how you like it, if it works well and you can test how accurately it charges & balances cells with a multimeter, then buy another for quicker charge times on both packs, or spend about the same amount on a single top-end charger knowing that it'll last a long time and can be updated ( firmware updates on hyperion chargers are an interesting point ).

Coin toss...

I would buy that over anything dynamite. Never been a fan of dynamite myself, too many bad experiences.

Ac/Dc 150watt Hyperion Balance charger. With a couple simple connectors you can charge two packs at once. This is the way to go. Cheap it out if you want, but this is quality shiznit right here.

I'm using the AC6 at the moment as I had a Hyperion and it s#at itself and was out of warranty. The AC6 was only intended to be a temporary measure, that was 8 months ago and it's still going strong. Great little unit!

If you dont mind 50w chargers why not get one from hobbyking? Much Cheaper than what you linked...

4-port, 50watts - each port

Yet another 50watt charger, half the price of the one you linked...

I use this one: 150watts - good for 8s lipo OR 7a charge... and still cheaper...

Just get the AC6, if it craps out, which most likely won't happen, your only out 50-60 dollars.

It is a great charger.
