1980's Tamiya Hotshot

I had a Kyosho Lazer ZX-R that I found at a garage sale, person had built the shocks and turnbuckles then put it away, I bought it for $10. Built it up just for fun, never planned to run it. Wish I would have held onto that, sold it to fund other projects and regret it now. Loved those gold shocks.

That car was so much fun, I wore out the pump! After that I was chasing around the 1/8 scale(?) Fiero my parents got me. Had to chase it because it wasn't wireless, but it had a horn, flip up lights, etc. After awhile dad bought me a cheapo radio control car, one of those turn in reverse jobs.

The real fun began when an older kid brought his tyco over. When I didn't bring out the turn in reverse car he knew what had to be done. I soon had a Tamiya Hornet circa 1985, hump battery pack, big hot resistor hanging out back for the mechanical speed control. The tyco never stood a chance! And when that kid upgraded to a Futaba Jx10 and a hotter motor, a 19t went in mine!

If there was anything left to save of that car I'd still have it. Unfortunately I liked to play "King of the Hill" with that one, always having to one up the next guy in drag races. Ended up with a 12T in it, and at the speeds it was capable of it would roll faster than you could blink if you touched the steering at all. Really wish I had a radio with dual rate on the steering back then.

lets see how many of you guys remember Stompers and RoughRiders. They were not R/C, but were still pretty cool when you are 6 or 7. I had quite a few of these as a kid.

Here you all go. Another one from when I was small, I got this one back as well as the Rebound. Completely thought it was thrown out when I was little.

When I was 16 and had a job I could afford to buy what ever took my interest (within budget).

I got myself a Panda Citroen. Soon after my uncle got the Danny Stocker and my brother a Ferrari Testarrossa.

2 of the cars can be seen on this page.

The ferrari body lived much longer... until I used it that is
