Heh...bad idea!(I would never do that)
Good idea about the slipperential. You can also use a b44 center diff(not sure which is cheaper)but I don't know about the durability of this mod. |
Tight gear mesh can heat up a center diff. But so can a crazy huge power plant! haha....

What dog bones did you use?
|
Ok just to update, forget it! this trucks wheelbase is just too short for 4s, I know this is really an 1/8th buggy setup, so not surprising really. I dropped the diff oil down to 3k and put the punch control to 90% (first tried 30, then 50 , then 70) and STILL cant stop the front from lifting, problem is it happens at about 80% throttle where its already going at 40mph or so, so once the wind gets under it, its gone, flying through the air.
http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/crt/34.JPG Dog bones are UJ's both ends, they are 1/8th uj's I made a collar so I could fit them to the front and rear diffs, the shafts were then cut and welded at the right length, the center diff is obviously 1/8th, not the original crt one. |
If you were driving it only on road, you could set the ride height lower (lower center of gravity)and prevent this from happening.(worked for me)
|
hi, oh yeh on road would be ok, but this is an off road truck so im going back to 3s. Although that said even testing on the road it wanted to backflip all the time.
|
hey, whats the top speed on this with 3s?
|
not sure yet, its fast on the grass, im on a 17 pinion, im going to push up to 19/20 and then get you guys a video :)

Making a new chassis, going to put the motor at the front to tame the wheelies.
http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/crt/36.JPG Standing the lipo up so I can have straight prop shafts, 10mm longer than before, dimensions are more or less that of a Rustler. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/crt/37.JPG milled some areas to loose some weight. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/crt/38.JPG put the servo flat as there is room now. Just need to make prop shafts up. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/crt/39.JPG |

Just awesome!

I have been working on this quite a bit, have now switched to a mamba max pro esc with an Orion Vortex 8 (2050kv) motor. Its the motor form the Kyosho Inferno VE, only a 2 pole so less torque BUT im going back up to 4s . A Zippy 4s 5800mah, made up a wheelie bar but in this test run the ground was damp and not much grip to be had. http://youtu.be/UkJIYTWCF5Y |
You do very nice work sir. Nice little ripper you have there!
