Oh, RC-Monster. The only place where a thread about a Mamba XL controller can turn in to a bash MA thread.

And apparently the only place where the members can build a setup that will push any given lipo to its rated output. And I think this may be the only place where the members ask for graphs and "factual" info, and never get it.

I don't believe any post mentioned MA at all...

Thomas Porfert 03.16.2011 10:50 PM

I believe I can count two that do mention it...

i have no idea what you are talking about? "brand p" was the only one mentioned.

back on topic: to be honest, i am not surprised with the failures that the first new speed controls have experienced. it is to be expected with any new, ground-breaking speed control. does this sound familiar to anyone? *cough MMM cough*
this isn't necessarily castle's fault in my opinion. everyone has been wanting these escs so bad and castle got it out as soon as they could with their customers' best interests in mind. if they wanted to, they could have made us all wait another year or so and skip the whole V1 and V2 phase, but i wouldn't want to have a nice baja ready for conversion with no available esc that is actually affordable. this is where castle shines; great prices, great quality, and top-notch customer service.

long story short, failures should be expected with new products but castle's awesome customer service more than makes up for it with free replacements or at least cheap replacements if it is out of warranty or it is truly user error.

Thomas Porfert, read the rules :rules: CC experts must stay ON TOPIC in this thread.

So, can you give us any insight into the changes that were made with V2?

I never saw anyone bashing Massachusetts in here, what ya'll talking about? Why would you, they got awesome clam chowder!

Kirkinsb 03.17.2011 04:35 PM

I agree. I was a very early adopter...I was 12th on the list to get a Castle Conversion Kit. And I am totally comfortable with some of the failures that come with some new products as long as Castle Creations supports me well....which they have. Every employee at Castle has been great to work with. I have the confidence they will do what it takes to keep me rolling.

Speaking of...here is my conversion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJpjuC9AzWc

This is true. I was really talking about Massachusetts.

Cody.McP 03.17.2011 05:04 PM

Sorry I thought Brand P was the state of Massachusetts?

I still can't figure out how you received yours before mine when I was number 3 on the list :).

Just like you I don't mind diving in early because I know I'll get the support of Castle if anything should happen.

So has CC offically released the Ver2? Is there a easy way to tell ver1 from ver2?
I'm still happy with my 12s setup bu tI think I need another 5T for my son and I want to run the CC combo with his truck.

Chadworkz 03.22.2011 08:26 PM

I completely concur, sir, and I have a suggestion for who should watch over the Free Masons (ALWAYS Capitalize Free Masons!)...the Illuminati, I mean, who else could "watch over" the Masons?

DrKnow65 03.23.2011 09:14 AM

@ BrianG or any other electrical wizards,

If the BEC is the issue, can someone explain why it seems so difficult to build the circuit correctly?
It would seem to me that if one can build an ESC to put out very high amps in a precise controlled fashion that a simple constant voltage circuit would not be very hard to pull off?

Thomas Porfert 03.23.2011 02:30 PM

Version 2 Mamba XL's have not started shipping yet, but they are currently being finished up in production. If you have a version 1, it can be sent in for repair. We had to add a TVS to the BEC. Some servos on higher voltages were causing voltage spikes to come back up the line and take out the BEC. With the addition of the TVS, it prevents the voltage spikes from damaging components.
