Sneecks exactly right. The 9XL will also run cooler and have just as much power with the appropriate gearing.

i plan on getting a wanderer
7xl has a kv of 2145, 41,184 rpm 8xl has a kv of 1875, 36,000 rpm 9xl has a kv of 1667, 32,006 rpm i guess those are loaded kv ratings:032: how would i gear the 9xl to get the same speed and acceleration as the 7xl? would it still beat the pants off a nitro? :005: |
Of course....thats not hard to do.....Even the HV-Maxx can do that :005: Anywho, yes, those are loaded KV ratings and a 9XL would be the best choice. Gearing depends on the diffs, spur, ect. What ratio are the diffs? How big is the spur?

the spur is a plastic 51 tooth mod 1, stock ofna diffs 3.3:1 ratio:032: , panther komodo tires. what would be the runtime difference between the 7,8, and 9xl motors on 16 GP 3300's? |
The 9XL would give you the longest runtime on 16 cells since it's the most mild of the motors you listed. It would still do very well with the appropriate gearing though! The actual runtime difference is hard to calculate, it depends primarily on gearing and how you drive.

another update, Finally found a body that actually fit right. It is a kyosho st-r body. Do you like it, is the first body I’ve done with an airbrush. More motor questions, would I get speed in the 40’s with a 9xl and 16 cells? It only weighs 6 pounds with 16 cells, no motor or speed control. Which motor, wanderer 9xl or feigao 540C 9xl? Still haven’t figured out the gearing, 15, 16 tooth pinion may be? On to the pics…

I would certainly go for a Feigao C motor. A 9XL on 16 cells would be a good choice as well. I'm not possitive but a 15 or so sound be about right.
|
Fiegao C motor, 9xl would be good, 10xl on 16 would be better. Will run fast and cool. I think you did a great job on that body! Matches the truck well!
|
nice truck newuser! you'll get the speed in a 9 or 10xl for sure.

Yep, that not mine! But NICE! Great job! Don't worry about the questions, if you don't ask you won't know. PM Mike and see what he can do for you, if he can get it, he will, or have a suggestion that will be comparable.

Ok I finally got my truggy running; it’s no longer a work in progress! The Quark 125, 9xl, and 16 GP 3300’s are great! This truck has soooooo much rip! I was expecting less, what a nice surprise!:027: The first 10 minutes of running on pavement got the temps up pretty good, 135-140F:013: on the esc, 151-159F:026: on the motor, and 100F:018: on the batteries. So I added heatsinks to the esc(used aluminum “L” channel like BrianG with heatsinks on the “L” channel) and a 12v fan to the motor. 7 minutes of hard running on grass produced temps of 110F on the esc 106F on the motor and 100F on the batteries. So far I am very very happy with it! On to the pics!....
