Yes, because of the ballooning tires, the front wheels get larger than the rears. Due to that, there is a relative large stress on the drivetrain. With a centerdiff this stress is taken away (for the biggest part, it is just sucked up by the 50K oil in the diff..)

and it looses weight as well.

I remember that you once recommended ducted tapes, Serum.
Where can I find them and how do you use them within the tires?
Also, Promod, the 2240 you are using produces more RPMs than my motor: 2240/10= 1480 1950/10= 1254.
To reach a speed such as a 55mph, with a slipperential or a centerdiff, I dont need to go very high in the number of teeth of the pinion, right?

Promod 10.18.2006 10:53 PM

Yes, that is correct with a center diff you can run a much smaller pinion to get the same gear ratio as a transmission.
Even with a center diff you will be surprised at how tall a gear it will take to reach 55 mph with your motor.

Thank you,
Promod

Then, probably I'll have to go up in cell count. Either 7 or 8s.
Torque will be rampageous, though.

yep, learn to embrace it, lol! torque rules! i'm guessing you will love driving that truck on 7s or 8s. my 8t is loads of fun on 6s, and my quark will only work when the lipos are about half discharged.

But it'll be dangerous for the trucks drivetrain.

tallyram 10.20.2006 09:32 PM

you gotta pay to play!

I duct-taped the tires from the inside. wrapped it around twice.

On my site i have a short movie of the tires, showing the difference between the taped tires and the ones without tape.

here is the link to my site..

Guys,

I have something I need to make it clear.

The 149.18 controller is rated for 5 lipos maximum and I want to use 6s with it. The capacitors are rated for a pure 25v and 6s would give something above that easily(25.2v). I'm sure now why the truck was stuttereing like crazy with the 6s evo20, 1950/10 and the 149.18. Its because of the higher voltage the controller is being supported by. When my lipos lost a few voltages, the truck's capabilities increased dramatically. Acceleration, torque and smoothness got much better. It still coggs very little, though, but I dont care.
Once the Monster Max is released, I'll be sure to get it and dip that schulze in the sea and kiss its wires goodbye.:)
