I think they are 32p,according to tower hobbies website.

What gears where used? I just did this to mine but the largest revo spur is 40T and doesn't even come close to the pinion

suicideneil 03.06.2008 03:38 PM

The trouble with the Novak motors is they need to be geared down a ton, which means a large spur and tiny pinion- I use 70/12 (32p). That 40tooth MOD1 gear is the same size/equivelant of a 50tooth 32p gear.... you see the problem. My suggestion is to either hunt down some larger compatible MOD1 gears on towerhobbies or somewhere which will work with the Revo type slipper, or switch to the new Emaxx 3905 spurs that are 32p and will work perfectly with the revo slipper; that ofcourse means you will have to buy new 32p 5mm bore pinions.....

MGT spur gears, with 3 of the slipper peg holes drilled out to 5mm and with washers under the screw heads to keep the gear from sliding off, fit on the Revo slipper clutch perfectly. I've used them on several Revo slipper clutch plates, and it works perfectly every time. The gears come in sizes up to 52t, and they are mod1.

I just recieved my 68t m0.8 emaxx (new model) spur today, and I can confirm that it bolts directly onto the revo slipper assembly.Yay!
I am just waiting fot a couple of 32p pinions now.
The spurs come in 68,65,and 62t.

I got the 3905 slipper shaft from Traxxas in the mail yesteday or the day before. With the setup I had when I ordered it. the best I could do was 64t spur and 22t pinion with a mod to the motor mount. I just installed the Neu motor so you can understand my need for more. Couldn't wait I converted the G1 tranny using the revo shaft and revo slipper the very night I order the shaft from traxxas. I got the jato spurs to use with the slipper clutch 58, 56 & 54. Hooked up a headlight and got my fix. I tired them all out with a 26t pinion. I got to say it sure is nice having options now. Novaks setup is nice for what it does. Being stuck on 70/12 got old. So for as far as 32p there seems to be a pretty good choice of spurs and pinions becoming available. The new e-maxx 62, 65 and 68. Then the jatos 54, 56, and 58. Mike has 14t - 24t 32p pinions. Mike was out of stock so I found another place they carry up to a 33t pinion for aruond the same price. That should cover my setup.

Anyways I had an extra tranny (well I do now from the left overs) and installed the new slipper shaft in that one and converted it to single speed. I drilled an exit hole and left the shaft the original length instead of cutting it to length. The slippers are a little slippery to change without one. The problem that I can see so far is that the spur is so far away from the motor mount. Don't have another slipper to install and find out how much though.

Here's pics of the shaft installed in the 3906 tranny. There was a little extra shimming involed with the differential output gear. Mainly because the traxxas steel idler and top gear on the output shaft are longer.?. wider.?. Longer. Eye balling the 3905 shaft next to the old one you can see that the gear is longer and ends right were the shaft is cut on the old shaft for the g1 tranny. So I can't verify that the shaft will work in the G1 tranny.

When I put the gorrila motor mount on. I will use the old motor plate and slipper setup to take some measurement. I'll post pictures of the distance with a couple different motor installed.

Here is mine so far.
I am using the revo input shaft with 7mm sawn off the end, along with the revo output shaft. This is with the 68t e maxx spur attached.(This was the only spur my local shop could get for now!)

Anybody know of somewhere besides RC Monster to get 32P 5mm bore pinions? They're sold out on here and the sipping is very expensive if they had them, $7 is a bit much to ship a pinion that ways next to nothing

pun15her 03.07.2008 05:25 PM

Try $25 for shipping 2 to the UK!!

lincpimp 03.07.2008 05:43 PM

Kershaw designs sells 32p 5mm bore pinions, just google them to find the site. Dan is a nice guy, but it takes a while to get them shipped (not sure why).

suicideneil 03.07.2008 07:12 PM

FD is also selling proper 5mm bore pinions now, no more drilled out stock pinions. Someone on the noob traxxas forum bought some- very good quality by the looks of it.

Who you calling someone?

That was me. Been using the 26t I got and it's holding up against that wicked plastic spur.

Here is mine...just finished the Mod. Pinions line up fine with my Neu motors. The only limitation I see is that I'll have to go with a smooth can Neu in order to be able to use smaller pinions. Probably have to go with lower kv Neus also to deal with the small spur.
