Then add to that idea......>>>>vent one end of the can and put a fan on the other end for a cross flow cooling arrangement. Interesting...... |

You'd have to have some hot motor on 4s to keep up with a pair of milder systems on 4s,closes the efficiency gap a little if you're chasing a certain amount of power,at least it won't thermal. Also, using a pair of cheaper, lighter 4s packs, since you'd be taking less current from each, helps some with the cost and weight difference. So say you're taking 70% of the amps each, from a pair of 4s packs, that you'd be taking from a single, more powerful 4s pack with a single big motor and single esc, you'd still be up on power whilst being down on temperature and load on each esc.. So i'd take it over running a single mega hot motor, although it's not ideal, going higher voltage with a single system is.Me personally,i'm building everything light these days so i can run cool 4s setups (single),35mph is enough for me,i just want a cool running, hassle free setup that is nice to drive and has plenty of snap.the novelty of running huge power up and down in straight lines wears off, then you just want to get on with driving.until some alternative high voltage controllers come along, then i might build some big monsters again. 0700,do you have an idea what you want to spend? and if you want to make them useable as single systems in other applications? |

You guy have been great, you've definitely got me shopping for a single motor/controller combo....so far I'm looking at these...
neu/quark - $600? novak 4.5 - $250? MMM - $350 - not released Traxxas - $? - not released |
Skip the Novak piece.
The MM/Feigao combo is good The MM/Lehner combo is better Quark NEU is very good depends alot on your budget. the Warrior 9920/Feigao 8XL/9XL offers great "bang for the buck" |
Should I wait on the TRX or MMM? I talked to the engineer at castle, he said they're aiming at neu/quark level, but at a lower mass market price?
And of course, now TRX wants to joust with them. |
Should you wait...........
Very good question. It will probably be several months (Minimum) to a year before either is available. How long can you wait? Last year I was in the same position. I deceided not to wait and bought a MM with a NEU 1515 with the intention of moving the MM to another lighter truck and buying the MMM when it comes out. Well, I'm still waiting! LOL! |
I'd talk to the engineer again and ask for an approximate release date- give or take a few months- otherwise we'll all be grey & old by the time its released...

He said they JUST got their motor supplier issues worked out, they wanted neu, but he didn't have the capacity they needed. They're testing samples now and expect good news in July.

The $560 neu/quark setup is temping, esp if I could find a deal....

I'm with procharged.. Who.. ?
|
Engineer guy who picked up the tech support line. Said the controller has been done for a very long time, the hold up has been a motor supplier who could meet the quality AND production numbers they needed to release the product en mass.
I was very impressed with their business attitude in general and I'm happy to wait a few months to get a product with so much thought behind it. |
