If nothing else it will make a seriously cool desktop fan for the summer months. I cant wait to see it in action!
|
Did you aim the fan down a tiny bit (rear end up) so it pushes the car into the ground. The jet dragsters do that so that they stay drag cars and not drag planes, I think I read they only aim them down 1 degree or so.
I wouldn't have a clue how much load is going to be on that motor a full speed, but a lest you've got one serious cooling fan so heat shouldn't be too much of an issue for the motor. |
I think your right patrick...
I can't wait to see the video.. if you take too long, I'll build one a make a video.. :) |
JUST bought the batteries!
I just bought them about 2 minutes ago. The 7075 plate should be here monday so I can start making the tray.
I think 160A continuous will fit the bill. Not to mention they FIT! One on either side of the chassis, laying down. I upgraded to the 12AWG wire and got the AF Blinky taps. Here they are! www.MaxAmps.com |
Those are nice batteries...
|
Yes, they are. I'm gonna buy another pair for the Rustler after my wallet recovers for a bit.
|
Check out what I just saw on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-1-10NEW-ERA-...QQcmdZViewItem It's along the same line as this one. |
Here's what I have to say about that- :na:
I like the chassis, though. Would be nice for BL "wheel" power. If I hadn't bought the batteries I would bid on it! Speaking of the batteries, I changed my order from the 2, 2s2p, 8000 packs to 2, 4s, 4000 packs. (possible 8s setup in my future?) |

Any updates?

Hey thanks for the bump.
I took this pic a while ago but forgot to post it. It's the other wing that I had for the Rustler. I found some brackets and mounted it in the front. It looks nice and should provide lots of downforce too. I have to find another body because the wing gets in the way of the Lambo' shell. I'm thinking a 1/8 buggy body so it's wide enough in the middle to cover the batteries. Any suggestions? http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...d/DSC00029.jpg Slight change in plans also. I'm putting the 9XL in the Rustler for a while until I can decide on a new motor. I'll get an 8XL to put in the fan. |
An XL can in a rustler, man, that thing will fly.... or explode in a shower of high revving gears; I like. As for the fan car, almost looks an F1 body would look good with that front wing, but I dunno how wide the side pods are, probably wont cover the batteries enough. What about one of those wedge shaped bodies- I forget what cars they go onto but you know the type I mean.

The new MaxAmps packs came today! :yipi:
These are sweet batteries. The first thing I did after I unwrapped them was cycle them. Discharge to 3.2V/cell at 1C (4A). Then charge at 1C. They both took over 3930 mAh! I'd imagine that they're slighly underrated as far as capacity goes. If I were to discharge to 3V/cell they would definitely take more than 4000 mAh during the subsequent charge cycle. Did I mention that they fit absolutely perfectly next to the chassis? See! It does pay to measure twice! I also installed a set of 5.5mm bullet connectors on each pack. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...DSC00046-1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...DSC00048-1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...DSC00047-1.jpg ^^^ Perfect! |
all i have to say is wow... sweet project!!
