i honestly don't know the difference, other than you'll be able to change the wiring on the back, and you can't with the hi-amp. i have the same motor in a hi-amp, and i've asked what the difference is - other than the wiring options, and that the hi-amp is more expensive - and don't really know if one is more powerful (doubtful) or can handle higher amp loads.
regardless, you have one heck of a motor. it'll put a smile on your face, guaranteed. are you pairing it with a MM? you should - they work great together. just get a fan to blow on the MM, and you'll be set. |
I'll have MGM 16018 esc..with fans+doubled power conductors.

fancy pants.
|
Nice motor, it sure will propel the Maxx along at a fair old pace.
|
God daaaamn :yipi:
Now I can honestly say that i have some power on my maxx :intello:I drive with 4s pack and still thinking to with two 3s in series :whip:..But the LMT is very good...and has very low..30'c temp's even I go with 22/64 gearing. |
Lehner recommends the hi-amp version anytime curent draw is expected to exceed +/- 80 amps. The motor are identical internally, but the hi-amp cannot be re-configured. :)
|
ok..
So is there anything i can do with my normal amp motor? Can I mod it to high amp? |
no, you can't. The high-amp motors are build in a different way, you can resolder the back to make a star configuration instead of a Wye. (which devides the KV by 1.72)
|
HI..sorry about my bad english but i dont understand it all what u was saying about star resoldering?Help me whit this...What's the benefit of star conficuration?Any picture of how to do it?

1 Attachment(s)
brushless motors are available in delta (star) and Wye (Y) windings.
A delta wind gives 1.73 times as much torque and 1.73 times less KV than a Y winded motor. Lehner non high-amp motors come in Y, but you can remove the original solder and reconfigure it as a Delta winded motor. With the lehner non high-amp motors you have a motor that is a Wye wind, which can be soldered to a Delta wind motor. This Y and D is also used for Neu brushless motors, the 1515 1y for excample. and they are also available in D. |
Ömm..ok...but if i use the motor in bashing..and also for high speed driving,is the Y system better for me?
|
that would depend on the KV you choose!
you normally pick the KV for the voltage your setup needs to run. |
Ok.then I go with normal system. But how about norl vs hi-amp?I have MGM 16018 esc and two maxamps 2s2p 8000mah lipos in series..so do I need to worry about motor getting wrecked?
|
no, depending on the kv you take. no worries about the motor. You can go either high amp or non high-amp.
|
I'll have 1940/7 so the kv is about 2200.And the voltage 16.8
