Yes, your batteries and wheels/tires are a large contribution to the weight of your truck. As long as you have the power, the weight is OK. Less weight will maximize your runtime, though, as well as minimize the heat generated by your electronics.
How did you get your truck so light. Are you running alot of plastic or aluminum.
All aluminum! It is a matter of selecting the right parts, including wheels and tires. I have an all aluminum e-maxx weighing just under 9 pounds, as well as an all aluminum e-maxx weighing under 8 pounds RTR! I also use Lipos, which cuts down on battery weight significantly.
Was those your trucks you weighed on the other thread. 7.75 and 8.6 or something. That is really light. I am not sure what i am going to do. I have to find out if esc is still good and go from there. I have a set of sportmaxx tires on a set of 4o series rims. They reduce my tire weight by half or more. But I like the looks of the dirt hawgs. If I pack two 7 Xl on with two esc and 36 cells. you think I could go up in my gearing. Get may be 70mph or so.
yes, the trucks were mentioned in another thread. If you like your tires, then stick with them, just adjust the setup accordingly. two 7xl setups with 18 cells each would be absolutely INSANE! The truck may reach 70, if you could keep it moving straight long enough! These trucks are a bit tricky when they get over 40-50mph.
Perhaps you need some counseling!? :) I am glad to know that I am not alone! |
I had the truck geared with 22 pinion 66 spur with the sport traxx tires. It was fast with one motor. I was racing traffic on a 55 mph highway. I was gaining on a few. I wish I had away to check it. I blew one tire apart form to much speed. I love it when that happens though. Counseling is a maybe. But I am having some fun.
Counseling sounds like a definate. Perhaps we can do a group session and split the costs! I have been known to chase cars now and then as well! :)
The esc come out fine. I just made me a 14 tooth pinion. I going to try it with the 70 tooth spur and see what happens. My 7 xl don't sound right. I had to put it back together after serious endo. Knocked motor apart. Pinion gear off shaft. Broke a couple battery starps. I may need new one mike with heat sink. Let me know if you can get me a 9 xl and the cost.
I will look into the 9xl for you. I may be able to get the wanderer version.
What is the wanderer version? Is that like the maker of the motor.
That is just what BK calls them. They are Feigao motors though (supposedly given better bearings).
I still have problem. It almost sounds like my 7 xl has a miss in it. It you know what I mean. It is hard to explain. Runs warm to. Any suggestions.
My bet is that you scuffed a winding when the motor came apart in your crash. It could be a few things, really. I would be real careful running it without a brace at this point. Once the can pops, they tend to pop again much easier.

Must have missed this thread for a few posts.. it is growing fast...
Mike, are you chasing cars..? You really need some kind of therapy.. you are quit a sprinter! Coolhand; how about 20 cells and an 8XL or a 9XL? if you use a 9918 or a 9920 controller, you can run it on 20 cells.. Getting an extra 200 watts, pusing it over the 60 mph! Your truck sure is heavy!! What did you used? concrete or bricks? ;) how come it's so heavy? |
Not sure why it is so heavy Serum. I wish i knew. I even ran some plastic thinking I was saving. I know my tires are heavy. I do have lighter set I can put on though. I may put them on and reweigh. I don't have a good scale. It gets me in the ball park.
