Hmm, nothing amazing, but the center slipper is nice, and the battery trays look pretty much perfect for those sized lipos.

Yup, I say that in RCCA a few days ago too glassdoctor.

It's definately got me rethinking a BL Revo and directing me more towards a Novak BL Losi Eight. A LST2 even.

I know alot of people knock the Novak brand a little but I have been nothing but pleased with my reliable HV-Maxx 6.5. I'd even consider putting a HV-Maxx in the Eight.

Its absolutely nothing to speak of. Its a center slipper and nothing more. The Ofna Dominators had them. That might be what its from, or designed from.

The BL thing is on novaks site now....

This is good. More choices is always better. This system will be the choice of the basher/beginner. I just can't see getting 20-30 minute mains out of it without a thermal. I've run the 6.5 in a buggy and it was serviceable. It would be good for indoor racing. All that said, the system will have to be priced right to sell. The pending MMM/Neu system is very reasonably priced (rumor has it) and will be tough to beat for value/performance. I would say that the Novak system has to come in under $250.00 for ESC/motor combo. I doubt it will be cheaper than the present system, but that's what needs to happen or it will fail. Personally, I can't see myself getting one without significant upgrades. I've gotten the Neu bug and have two now. It's just a different world.

Looking at the photo from Novak, it looks like the motor is bolted onto a plate that utilises the nitro engine mount holes. This is different from most of the conversions where one of the diff holder plate is extended to become the motor mount.

My worry with this approach is that during the course of running the buggy, the flex in the chassis may eventually cause a clash between the pinion & spur resulting in the front end of the rotor becoming warped. I have done something similar in my first conversion & it lasted about 3 to 4 months of about 1hr sessions per weekend.

I hope I'm wrong of course as it is great to see a big manufacturer joining the push for brushless.

i hear your concern, but it shouldn't be any different that a nitro engine.

But, nitro truggies and buggies usually have more bracing around the center diff to reduce flex. For example, the brake servo mount acts as a brace, but it is removed in most conversions.

That's the first thing I noted on the Novak conversion. I've tried both setups but really favor the mechanical braking - especially in a 1/8 scale buggy.
