Thread revival
So, Its been about 10 months since this thread kinda died.
Anyone want to chime in now that some time has passed? 1) What is (in your opinion) the best Truggy? and more importantly... 2) Why? :neutral: |
I do like my Hyper ST Pro:
- Comes with all upgrades as stard - Tough as nails (good for my driving ability) - Turns like a buggy |
Well now that I've run my XT8 for the last season I'm even more inclined to recommend it over anything else. It proved very durable, was excellent on turn in, and just flat out hanlded awesome. Every aspect of it was great during races. I would recommend buying the 808 big bore shocks though as I've seen a big improvement over stock.
And if you watch your setup closeley the balance from left to right can be great - even without the off center diff many people tout on the 8T. My system is within 50 grams from left to right and feels perfectly balanced. Would love to hear someone's experience with the new Associated truggy though - that looks pretty nice. Good luck! |

And when you get tiered of bashing /racing it, you can then convert it to a battle truck.. :wink: Seriously if you have this Truggy, the greatest improvement you can do (IMHO) is add the 808 shocks, it / they make all the difference in the world.. :intello: Have a great day / weekend everybody..:yipi: |

I have been reading and one thing I thought my help you decide is considering parts availability. I have both the X-Ray buggy and just picked up the Losi 8ight-E buggy, while I haven't had time to compare durability I will say getting parts for my X-ray buggy is a pain in the butt. I have a great local hobby shop, but it is smaller and they have to have a certain dollar amount in a order to buy from X-Ray. I have waited as long as a month for a part. That being said though you will likely not need a lot of parts for the X-Ray they are tough. Not saying the 8ight isn't just haven't messed with it to much yet. I also just bash I don't race, I throw that in because I don't know what you plan to do. Good luck let us know what you get.

I've run or owned the LSP, CRT, Hyper ST, and an XT8. Out of those 4, I liked the XT8 the best then the Hyper ST.
The LSP and CRT are great trucks, but getting a outdated. I wouldn't hesitate to run them any of them as bashers (as they are all built like tanks), but for racing, I'd get the XT8 or Hyper ST. Of those two, I'd choose the XT8 for all the reasons Sower posted above. |

to be honest,ever since i completed my e-xt8,all my other cars turned to shelf queens instantly.driving anything else felt like a chore.i owned lsp and cen truggy but tried a couple of other truggies at the track.ive never tried the rc8t yet but it looks good on the track rschoi:is your hyper st electric?never got to finish mine coz im very happy with the xt8. |
:smile:I started with an HB LSP which I spent a small fortune on making durable enough to race, upgraded hinge pin holders, better shocks, 17mm conversion etc. and it was pretty competitive but just so heavy.
I changed to a CEN Matrix TR Arena and jsut found that a complete PIA and only kept it a couple of months before changing to a Losi 8T. I've found the Losi very durable, still on the original A arms and about the only thing that let's it down are the rear outer hinge pins. I've now changed these for the Mugen MBX5T outer pins as they are supposed to be stronger. I also bought a new 8T RR and then converted it to brushless using the Tekno conversion with a Neu 1515-1Y motor and MGM 16025 esc and it drives very well. Nicer to driver than the nitro although you miss the noise and smell. My nitro 8T may not be getting much use in future as the B/L is just so much smoother to drive. I've never had an Xray but the quality looks very good, I went with the Losi as even here in the U.K. parts are easy to get and reasonably priced when you do need them. I think most of the better quality manufacturers all make a good product and it will boil down to what you like. Try and see if people at your local track will let you try there truggy's so you can make a comparison. Different people drive in different way's and what suits one person may not suit another.:smile: |

I still want to say MBX5-T. It just is truely the FIRST real GOOD truggy released. I feel like the 5T kind of started the trend of long chassis, weight moved forward sort of thing. Mugen kind of started a trend with this style I think, it was the first truck of the next generation of truggs.. Mine has been reliable ever since, I haven't even broken a single part yet.

I'm not saying it's the best as it's my first truggy but i am impressed with the Jammin X2 CRT , quality is up there but can't compare it to anything else .There is no need for any hop ups.
Turns on a dime , accelerates like a scalded cat and has been as tough as nails with no broken parts yet. Did i mention how it jumps and is so easy to control in the air . I'm so impressed that i'm turning it into my basher , might break something then :mdr: |
