Oh, you little swine you. I think its safe to say your photoshop skills are fine....

Got a new E-maxx transmission from tower for only $48 without motor plate or spur gear, but eBay has this exact thing going for at least $70. So finally got the transmission in and a servo and such.
Threw in the old Velineon on 3s and geared it 19/68. Seems to have more power than I remember, could pull 10 mph rolling wheelies and flip it onto it's lid in the blink of an eye. Will make some for an amusing video when I get some decent clips together. Jumping will also be done, jumping is good. :intello:

any updates on this project ...i'm building a v-twin revo

I got a new video of the Revos doing a couple jumps and the single Velineon Revo was able to pull off some outrageous wheelies. Single Velineon has some mean power, won't be upgrading to dual any time soon. Also got a Rustler video finished up too.

Here's pics of the Transmission install and build-up of the 2.5:

Nice job and very impressive..what gearing are you using for the velineon?

also check out my v-twin project......here are pics with titan moc up to get the chassis tuned in with the suspension.....its a 3.3 chassis
I will be running two maxamps 3s 8000mah lipos...hoping to hit 50-60 mph

It was geared 17/68 for the speed runs and still delivered such a plentiful top-end there didn't seem to be a need for higher gearing (plus we didn't want to tax the batteries too much). Given the immense torque and speed of the single Velineon, I'm not even jealous of a Neu setup, as it able to cruise over any terrain I threw at it and it gets out of control if you get too gutsy on the throttle.

Topspeedtimmy 06.26.2008 10:01 PM

Update: the single Velineon runs a little too hot with 35mph gearing and any less speed would be a bit slow:no:. Plans are to convert 2.5r Revo to dual Velineon with moderate gearing for low 40s:surprised:. Also converting the 2.5 to extended e-revo chassis, so it will basically be an e-revo. The Mamba Max died while running in the Rustler:grrrrrr:, sent it in to Castle 6/5/08. Ordered a TrueRC 4s2p 8k to run with the 9XL in the Revo 3.3, will relocate battery tray for less weight in back. Probably going to gear it 17/36 for moderate 39mph top speed (2nd gear wide ratio). The Super brain 977 pro is crap , sent that in to be checked out by MRC:whip:, doubt they will do anything; going to order a Duracraps ICE charger for handling the lipo charging responsibility. Looks like flightpower lite batts are the cheapest route for the dual velineon. Pics Later, vehicles should finally be running in a month:oh:, after some serious work...literaly

Pics of Revo 3.3 with the weight further forward, I had to bend the servo mount down to keep the battery low.

Got another Velineon motor and another combo so the motors are both new, just one old ESC, checked both ESCs and they are the same version. Soldered an H connector out of Deans to connect 2 batteries and 2 ESCs.

Also put on RPM tru-track.

When I disconnected the motor wire on my old ESC the bullet pulled out of the case :oh::no:
tried soldering it back on. Got a short 10 min. run and things heated up a lot.
synced the motors and it ran much smoother and cooler for another 20 minutes. The run ended when I was cruising up a grass hill punched the throttle to 2/3 and it rotated backwards onto a driveway and skidded on the deans plugs and grinded the motor mount. The bullet came out again, don't know what to do.

suicideneil 07.11.2008 12:02 PM

If you send the esc back to traxxas they will repair the bullet for you, or you could open the case up to make fixing it easier yourself. Its a common problem though, must have rookies doing the QC at traxxas...

I opened the case when my bullet came out and could not get to the area that needed to be soldered without busting open the bottom of the case that seemed to have no way to enter the lower area...do you know of anyone repairing these bullets themselves?

traxxas sent me a new one

Topspeedtimmy 07.11.2008 01:10 PM

I emailed Traxxas with my predicament and they want me to send $45 along with the ESC and motor. I said, "no way, Jose", then I popped open the case and soldered it back on. Make sure you take out the rubber water seal around the plugs and the fet board should unplug from the brains. It seems to be solid. The dual Velineon runs kinda hot geared only 19/68 in 90 degree weather, it was about 170 for the motors and 160 for the escs after 15 minutes of running and taking some video.

I am running two FP 3s 4270 in parallel to both ESCS. Geared 19/68. Motors are synced. More pics and a video.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this mess to run cooler? It's already geared as low as I can take at 19/68 for about 180f on the motors and it was only getting 180f at 12/68 with single velineon.

Sell those 2 velinon setups and invest it toward a 1515/2.5D and a MMM. and run those batteries in series for 6s. Or the MMM Esc/Motor combo when it comes out in hopefully not to long.
