dvd player if you get bored???

NickRummy 10.30.2008 08:37 AM

Well here's my dungeon build. Me and my wife bought our first house a little over a year ago. While looking at houses I kept an eye out for an "RC space"

Here's what I started with. I won't post up all the photos I have. We'd be here for a while. Most of these are outdated by a few months at least so a lot of the RCs you see have come and gone.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...DSCF0966sm.jpg

Here's how it looks now. Here is the brazing area.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF4240sm.jpg

Notice these under the bottom shelf

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2353sm.jpg

They are on casters and great for storing scrap/extra steel and styrene

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2352sm.jpg

Work space. Eventually the blank wall above it will be pegboard. Lighting is WAY better than what this photo shows.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2354sm.jpg

Battery station. Building a new one now. I don't like moving all the lipos away when I charge another. Call me whatever but the thought of one lipo going boom and setting off the others frightens me! So I'm building a larger one that will accommodate a battery bunker.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2355sm.jpg

Parts wall. Tires underneath

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2356sm.jpg

this is kind of the "staging" area. Stuff being worked on or getting ready to be worked on sit here.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2357sm.jpg

That's it!

SunnyHouTX 10.30.2008 08:57 AM

Very nice Nick!

JThiessen 10.30.2008 09:01 AM

Ok, Nick - what did you blurr out? :intello:

I actually like you charging station. Good idea - I'll have to build one like that.

At the time the photo was taken I was working on a project for someone. The guy I was doing the project for was keeping it hush hush until the project was finished so I didn't want to give anyone any sneak peaks. That project has been finished so I can post a photo of what it was.

It was a tube frame chassis for a Jeep body made to be a direct replacement for an Axial AX10 chassis.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2684sm.jpg

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...DSCF2687sm.jpg

This was after he finished the paint and put it all together.

http://beatyourtruck.com/images/proj...ectaxial20.jpg

JThiessen 10.30.2008 11:24 AM

That's sweet. Is it out of steel? The joints look brazed?

NickRummy 10.30.2008 11:26 AM

Yup, all steel. Some tubing and some solid rod. All the joints are brazed.

I'm also building a loft in my garage to get some clutter out of the basement, I'll be putting a workbench along the wall under the loft for some of the smellier duties the shop requires.

A few lipos in my rc tool box:

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF1876.jpg

Motor storage area: (just kidding that is the rug)

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF1878.jpg

I have a 30x15 room that has all of the rc stuff in it now. I even have some pegboard for new parts. The room has a couch and futon in it, and will have a full A/V setup when we buy a new flatscreen for the living room at home. And I will be adding room a/c, instead of the wall unit! I have 3 large 5 shelf racks that hold most of the rc stuff. I need to take some pics, but gotta clean up first!

My workbench is actually my old kitchen table! I have a chair next to it with a tackle box with the rc related tolls in it. Kinda low tech, but it works, and I do not need to clean up every night! Out in the shop I have 5 more craftman boxes with all manner of tools, and a frame rack, paint booth (both for 1:1 cars) and all manner of other tools.

i envy you.........i really do:no:

cheesecake 10.30.2008 03:49 PM

here are some old pictures maybe if i get motivated ill orginize it and get some more pictures

its a room in my basement about 12x6 and there is a room about 20x6 next to it wich is storage for everything else and rc boxes also my aircompressor is in there with a hose ran through the wall into the rc room. The walls need to be repainted because the paint is the same since we moved in when i was about 6 so about 17 years.

Nice!

Nice work guys. I love seeing your spaces, as it gives the rest of us ideas to work from. Great shop Nick. I like the way you incorperated a rangehood with fan and light for the soldering station. That works out great for the usage. I am going to be looking for one of those now. It would also be a great addition for a battery charging area. I should have some photos up of my new space within the next few days. My kids and I have been working on a complete remodel of the maids quaters. Since we are here on Gov assignment our work is only for temporary use(3 to 4 years), as it will all have to be ripped out upon our transfer, and returned to its original state. Some old kitchen cabinets were donated by our maintenance group(GSO), and I have been building some extra shelving and painting as we go in order to keep it looking somewhat clean. I finally put some power strips on the workbench yesterday and we are nearly ready to begin R/C work. I have one Maglight for small piece work, but I do need to find some good lighting to brighten up teh area. It really is nice to get organized and spend a little time preparing the space as much as possible. I know it will help keep things in order making it easier to find something when it is needed. I have gotten a few ideas from this thread, and you guys have helped a lot during this project. All it has cost me up to now is like $20 for paint. Everything else was used stuff we got for free. The room has cable installed so now I have to find a good flatpanel for us to watch.

JERRY2KONE 11.22.2008 09:24 AM

Here Goes Nothing.

Ok well I set up my photobuket account and now I will try to share some of my shop photos with you guys. I did just what I was told so I hope that it works. I managed to add 6 pics so please tell me if it worked or not. So this is my new shop that I set up in what is supposed to be the maids quaters in our residence. It is small, but I tried to pack in as much stuff as I could to make it workable. I even put up my portable DVD for now, but the wife says that I will have a nice flatscreen in there after Xmas. Not bad for goverment quaters don't you think?

Learning.

Yea I saw that in one of the other posts earlier on and knew right away that I wanted to do that as well. It is a space saver for sure, and I like the way it looks.

BL_RV0 11.22.2008 12:56 PM

Very nice guys. I'll be posting some pictures of my stuff when I move into my new room (remodeling house)

dirt101 11.25.2008 10:14 PM

My setup changes all the time but this is what I have now.
The real fun side...haha motocross will always be above r/c
<a href="http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff43/dirt1010/?action=view&current=mydirtbike003-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff43/dirt1010/mydirtbike003-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Dirtibike side"></a>

this is a good overview of the R/c side

my drawer set-up(sadly the rusty has been in the drawer for months.)
<a href="http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff43/dirt1010/?action=view&current=mydirtbike002-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff43/dirt1010/mydirtbike002-1.jpg" border="0" alt="drawer setup"></a>

JERRY2KONE 11.25.2008 10:19 PM

Desires.

We all desire brilliant work spaces, but that is not always the case due to money, kids, wife or whatever. Your space may not look as good as some others, but as long as it works for you that is what matters. You have your priorities in order and Motocross comes first. Good for you. Later when you get a little bit older R/C may take over that priority and you can expand/or improve your work space. The area looks very practicle from what I can tell. Efficiancy is the key to a good working environment. Nice setup.

dirt101 11.25.2008 10:22 PM

well actually I do start to really get into R/c during the cold months. I'm lovin the CRT right now, and the Rusty will hopefully be up and running again as soon as I can sell my 85(the yellow bike)

Hey there Andrew I take it this is a spare bedroom in ya'lls place right?? You have a lot of room there to work with, and all you need is a little bit of creativity. Maybe some assistance setting up what you have more efficiently. I know your young and just do not need much to make you happy. At least you have a room that is your own and can play with your R/C stuff. There are some guys who have that GF thing or the wife who just says NO.:diablo::whip: so consider yourself lucky. If you have more time on your hands take a closer look at some of the shops in here and use what you see to your advantage. Time flies when your having fun you know.

Both wrong, those bottles are for boxers to fill their mouth with water then spit, the hampster ones have a 1 way ball valve

JERRY2KONE 12.03.2008 10:07 PM

Nitro???

That would be considered illegal, because using nitro as a performance enhancing drug is bad for you. No it must be water for putting out nitro fires???

Nice.

Hey BB16 nice little shop there. All the basic needs and some cycle toys to play with in between projects. What a life??? I wish that I could have that kind of space again. When I sold my propery in FLorida in 2004 I had built a 20 X 20 shed in the backyard for a shop, but never got it finished, so I have to sue my 2 car garage and it worked fairly well. You have everything you need in there for doing just about anything. I like the hydraulic press.
