It could just be a high resistance or intermittent OC in one of the motor phases. I thought my sidewinder was stuffed yesterday till I pulled on the motor bullets and one came right off. It would work when I gave it a kick start otherwise it just cogged and didn't move.
If you're swapping ESC's maybe the coincidence is that it made better contact when pushing the connectors together with the MM. I would try another motor going straight into the MMM bullets - just holding it there to make contact if you don't have the right connectors - before assuming the MMM is no good. |

I've had the same problem caused by a dodgy motor connector. I'm also a little weary of the big F bullets mounted straight to the mmm board - as if they could come of more easily, and break something on the way.

when you put the power wires/motor wires into the bullets on the board they are right against the case, theres no play room. Not sure if thats good or bad. I had to "open up/spread" a couple male connectors to get a tighter fit, also CC must have used new glue for the stickers lol the case held together much better. |

how about the loser sends the winner their MMM as a spare? J/K, that would suck too much to lose that bet! |

As long as it will stay around 150 degrees I guess it's fine. If it starts climbing higher and higher I'm in trouble. |
Summer here in alaska is almost over so I'm just going to finish the season with my mm and mgm's and give castle another year to work the bugs out of their baby...I have 2 of them comming and they will both be for sale as soon as they arrive.

Ahh, good stuff. I'm sure everyone is a bit edgy about the new MMM's so its good to
hear its working okay. |
:party::party::party: Awsome stuff!!!!
|
If we only could get some news if they have started to ship them out yet......
|
+1, I'd like confirmation that RETAIL units have begun shipping again...

This sucks- my hobby shops aren't going to receive these until mid august apparently.
If I bought directly from castle will I receive it faster? And are these mid august predictions going to be correct?? Just a question for Patrick, Did you ship to every single hobby shop that has them backordered? If so what time do you think they will arrive? |
I believe he said they made enough to cover all the repairs, and to fill all existing orders- if your hobby shop ordered some a while back, they will get them. When? ASAP...
|
Got mine in hand and will hopefully try it out tomorrow weather permitting and all.
|
I ran mine down at The Grove this afternoon and I was impressed.
I ran 2 packs through it without any thermal shut down or any other problems. Except for a few related to operator error. The testing will continue. :mdr: |
I ran 3 packs through mine today. I still haven't received the parts to repair my "brushless ready" transmission yet so I'm running it in my converted Ofna Ultra Comp with a 10xl on 5s. It is performing flawlessly.
|
good the v2 work flawlessly:party:a cant wait to have one....:mdr:
|
I ran the V2 again today, this time upped it from 4s to 5s, same 9xl same 24/65. Motor got to 160, but the MMM didnt get over 111º. Fan clicked on once for a few seconds. Too good to be true ! It was a bit cooler today than yesterday but not much. Heres a vid of some wheelies with it in a lot, just for fun if you like.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suq5i8IqEUk swear I took this pic right after I was done 22 minutes. Moved the IR all over it and that was the highest it read. Stopped a couple times and it read 104..all onroad though http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...sterlot006.jpg |
Nice video. Those temps are awesome. I can hardly wait to get mine from the second pre-order.
|
Anyone starting t0 receive their orders from Mike ?
Regards, Joe Ling |
Doubt it. I'm sure the first person to see there shipment email will post here within a few seconds :)
|
I still haven't received an e-mail saying that my repaired one has been sent yet.
|
I received an email yesterday that they will be shipping mine this week along with some banners I asked so I can put it on the fence around our home-made track. Can't wait to receive them.
|
Good reports guys keep them coming . Alot better than the v1 reports of i ran for 5mins and smoked it or just shut off .
This is great |

Jay you could bring that MMM down to Phoenix and we could run it in the Arizona desert and see how hot it will get...I think that fan will be running like a bat out of hell..... |
can someone take a picture of the v2. i wanna see how the wires are.
and jayjay, you said the fan clicked on once only for a few secs??? did CC do something else to the MMM besides the fan and bec issue? because when my fan stopped working, i ran it for like TWO minutes and it got to 125 degrees! but when the fan was working, the temp never got over 98 degrees! this is on a version 1. so i cant believe if after one minute of running it heats up that quick and now they made the version 2 to have to fan off and turn on when it needs to....that means in my case it needs to turn on after like a minute. so which is why im asking if you guys know if they did something else to the v2. |
in most cases it shouldnt turn on for ages, or even at all... there must be something inefficient with your setup.
|
i have the version one. and it runs very cool...only 98 degree max. but when the fan stopped working (dirt got it the esc and stopped the fan) i let it cool down to ampient temp, then ran it for 2 mins, and the 2 mins rose the temps to 125.
|
There is a pick of it all earlier in the thread. And with the V2 the fan is thermostat controlled - ie it only turns on when it needs to.
|
Well, were I live it's hot as hell and humid as hell too. The dirt on the front straight temped at 114 degrees and the black tubing was 124 degrees.
Mine is installed in an 1/8th scale buggy and was run on a midsize track in race conditions. I got temps around 150 degrees on both the motor and the esc. The fan was on most of the time. |
i understand that the v2 is thermocontrolled, but if its the exact same esc, it should turn on after like 3 mins and continue to stay on, cus without the fan, my temps rose to 125 in two mins, but when the fan was working, it never got hotter than 98.
unless i have a retarded mmm, but it seems to be working fine when the fan is working... |
Some of you guys need to chill the hell out. Yeah, it sucks the first batch of the ESCs had a problem. I burnt up two of them, but my third has been through hell and back and still going strong. I ran a 30 minute main last week with no fan on 4s lipos with my sole MMM. It took it like worn out porn star. I am anxiously awaiting my repaired ESCs like everyone else.
Castle has stepped up to be the first mover on a product and there will be mistakes. At least Castle has the balls to actually answer people's questions and really listen to the customers. They will get it fixed and get everyone their controllers. As far as I am concerned, Castle can't win. If they don't respond and leave you wondering, you guys will bitch about them ignoring you. If they do respond and can't meet an exact delivery date, you bitch about how they are jerking our chains. I am sure Patrick is upset about the situation like everyone else and I am sure their employees are working as fast as they can to rectify the situation. Let them get it fixed so we can get back to driving our trucks. It ain't like we are waiting on some kind of life saving drug. We are driving toy cars. If you are that impatient, go drop $400 on an MGM so you can drive your car and quit your bitchin. I meant to put this in that other thread... point still stands tho |

Now, get off of Patrick's arse and make sure you wipe your face very well :lol::intello:. |
Yeah if we cant wait there is nothing stopping anyone from getting an MGM or equal. Truth is we all want a deal and we want it now. I'm ok with waiting. Whats another week or two.
