Those aught to not break....

sikeston34m 02.25.2009 11:50 PM

Have you ever seen a 2826 up beside a 4120?

How many watts do you plan on shoving through there in "bash" mode?

Impressive Sike... Not sure what it will draw. So far the 2826 is doing fine. Maybe I can twist your arm and get my hands on a 4120... 660kv model please.

How about this for a power plant?

It performs well, plenty of traction and it will go thru or over just about anything. It floats on tall grass, kinda funny for something that weighs 13-15lbs. Have fun with the revo, those bulks look like they will need some work to allow for a pass thru diff.

hellboy_044 06.11.2009 12:54 PM

hi anymore news on your truck looks good

hellboy_044 06.24.2009 07:54 AM

:rules:Come on you can't just stop there we want to see more ?????:whip::na:

hellboy_044 06.24.2009 08:29 AM

I see your running a 1/4 servo how much power has it got and at what volt's ?? I've been look at one that put's out 33kg as im doing a e-maxx 8x8 and 1/10 servo's are ok but think i need more than 24kg for each set of wheel's :gasp:

lincpimp 06.24.2009 10:18 AM

The 1/4 scale servos work very well. They are much more powerful than any 10th servo I have used.

I still need to completely go thru this truck, and change it up quite a bit. I have longer chassis to fit, al center bulks to modify and install, and a new emaxx 2 speed wide ratio tranny to put in. When I get the lst based 6x6 done I will focus my attention on this truck.

hellboy_044 06.24.2009 12:30 PM

e-maxx's

I have a truck like your's in my work shop i started it about 2yr's ago it's got 4 x 700 drill motor's to go in it and jumbo kong wheel's no body as it got put to one side when i started my E-maxx 8x8.
I will add a pic when i can:na:
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...9012008039.jpg
just need to sort the steering out and a new body and some new battery's and it's done for now .
Just a short cilp of the 8x8.:gasp:
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...E-maxx_8x8.jpg

I also have a E-maxx 6x6
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...9012008046.jpg
and a 4x4
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...9012008049.jpg .

I want to have ago at a 10x10 with 6 wheel steer and 4 motor's when i get the rest done. :surprised:
You never know if it can be done till someone has.:mdr:

hellboy_044 07.30.2009 06:08 PM

well not much going on here now what's happened to the e-maxx 6x6 ???????????

lincpimp 07.30.2009 07:21 PM

Still waiting on me... I have the new chassis rady and need to get the al center bulkheads cut and welded. Might wait till the fall, as it is a tad warm here right now...

hellboy_044 01.17.2010 01:24 PM

  anything new happening on the truck ?????? :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:

Nope, still waiting on me to get the chassis swapped and al bulks welded up...

lincpimp 02.19.2011 09:30 PM

Ok, so a year plus later...

I stole the center drive cvds out of this project to fool with the stampy 4x4. And now I am waiting on other parts for the stampy so I figured I would do some work to this truck.

Got the front bulk, and tranny swapped onto the bpp torpedo chassis. Since that chassis is more than 1" longer (maybe 2"?) this truck is going to get big!!!

I am sticking with the 3906 2 speed tranny, I really do not need something this size going 30mph, so the summit tranny will not be needed, Plus all of the linkages and everything else is a direct bolt in on the torpedo chassis.

I was running a 1/4 scale servo up front but have decided to run a pair of 9100t servos, 1 front and 1 rear. Should this not be enough to get the heavily weighted front wheels to move I can always run another 9100t on the front. These servos are more powerful than the hitec servos I currently use, so I figure it will be ok. Pretty sure a ccbec will handle these servos.

As for power I think I will stick with the axi 2826, and a MM on 4s. Seemed to do just fine. I do have a HW80 esc that I may try. I will still run a ccbec so I can turn the voltage up to 6.5v for a little extra push.

This truck needs to be wider. Thinking I will bake the tires off the wheels (really like the losi tires) and scare up some wheels with more offset than the stock lst wheels.

What options do I have? 17mm hex wheels would be good as I think I have enough 17mm adapters to go around. Not sure if I want to go full offset, but I am not near the truck so I am not sure how much offset the lst wheels have. These are regular MT size wheels, not 40 series.

Pics will be up when I get the truck back together.

lincpimp 03.09.2011 10:49 PM

Ok, so I have gone with big joes on half offset wabash wheels. 17mm traxxas adapters all the way around.

Looks great, will get some pics up tomorrow.

WheelMan 11.12.2012 08:38 PM

This is very cool, I must say!

Props to you for such a unique build. I will definitely be following the progress

6x6 with big joes? Can't wait to see this!

pinkpanda3310 11.13.2012 06:23 AM

4 years in the making and over a year to post up pics. Hmmm... can't wait:whistle:

I thought I was bad for doing slow builds:lol:

Put on your waiting shoes guys, Lincpimp has left the hobby:(

nitrostarter 11.13.2012 03:14 PM

Linc is preoccupied with life and his baby at the moment. He doesn't even have time to give Harold a good poking anymore...

He doesn't call, he doesn't write... He just used me and then left... Yet I can't get enough of him.

We all miss you Lincypoo

JERRY2KONE 11.13.2012 11:44 PM

Shame shame shame

Yea Linc was one of the greats on here for years, but life does seem to take over sometimes. Trust me I know. 5 kids grown and on their own, but three more teenagers to go. James was one of the original conversion guys around here when turning nitro into electric was just getting started, and he came up with some of the more unusual vehicle setups for us to emulate. I know at one time he had over 100 R/C's sitting around his shop to play with, and about 30% of them were never even touched, because he just did not have enough time to get to them. Besides his new family life he still has his own Body shop to run and keep profitable. I am sure that he also misses poking fun at Harold and the rest of us as well. Maybe he will stop back in some day when his kid gets old enough for him to share his love for the hobby. R/C is just one of those things that you never really grow tired of. Some have taken breaks for a few years and then get the itch once again. Over on the UE forum we have had a few of the old school guys get back into it after 4 or 5 years of being absent. So there is always hope.

Necro thread!!!

I missed the last few posts for 2 yrs!! Nice to see you guys (at least Jerry) think so highly of me.

Well I am in full tilt hobby room makeover. Moving everything around and I found the 6x6 maxx in pieces. Decided it needed to have a new maxx 2speed wide ratio trans and possibly a dual outrunner power setup. So I spent the last few hours digging thru my parts and have found most of a new emaxx trans. Ordered a 2 speed kit off amazon, 35 bucks shipped, I remember rc being more expensive??? Maybe I just have a different view of money since the gun hobby hit full tilt. Dropping a few stacks on a custom gun build was not unusual.

Anyways, I will get some pics up. Might have to make/modify the front chassis to fit the new emaxx tans. I may just make an adapter plate so I can use the BBP chassis and braces. That is next on my list to do.

I will be honest I miss the research and brainstorming we all did here. I look back and fooling with rc seemed to happen in a simpler part of my life, and I would like to go back to that!!! My daughter is 3.5 now and is a lot less stressful so I seem to have more time.

Pull I have some cool new tools I am sure you will all want to see. Stay tuned!

JERRY2KONE 08.18.2014 09:44 AM

Hey there james

hey there James, nice to see you back in here slumming around. 3.5 years old already. My how time flies. Our youngest of 8 kids is now 15 and life does get easier as they age. I still have a ton of other stuff I have to take care of, but I will get back to R/C full time at some point. As always it will be interesting to see what you come up with James.

lincpimp 08.18.2014 01:17 PM

Whats up Jerry!!! Good to hear from you too!

Yep, I plan to get some parts assembled into something that resembles an rc car.

JERRY2KONE 08.18.2014 01:52 PM

Life changes

hey James. How's the little one doing? how's family life in general? We have had a few life changes of our own around here as well. We just moved from Prague to Virginia, and we now only have two teenagers left at home (15 & 18). I have been a bit preoccupied with the move and trying to get our new home setup, & trying to find new employment, but in a few months time I should be able to get back into playing with my toys once again. I am currently finishing out the garage of this house for the owner, and should have a shop of some kind soon. Not sure how extreme I will be able to get with this one just yet. I have to wait and see what kind of discretionary income I end up with when I get back to work. Have to pay the bills, but our standard of living has definitely changed for the better for sure. Living stateside again is a nice change after many years abroad. I haven't gotten in here as much as I use to simply because the subject matter has gotten kind of stale for the most part. The latest RTR LiPo powered vehicles have gotten so good that there is no where near as much modifying going on anymore. The home made and custom CNC stuff is where the fun is IMHO. Haven't seen TD57 aka Sean around in years either. Life changes things. Good to see you home again sir.
