So why does it matter... What makes you guys think that the CC outrunners are going to be any better than the current quality outrunners such as axi? Theyre new to the outrunner scene.

We are speculating based on post #10 by Patrick:

Usually CC try to raise the bar a bit, and price lower than the competitors. And they often offer features that are not common either. Something to do with their business model I guess (opposite of maxamps...).

From what I have seen outrunners can definitely be improved, and I am sure that there are batter materials or mfg processes that can be applied to them to increase the power output and efficiency...

I guess we cannot say anything until they come out and someone tests them.:yes:

I never made any claim of the sort. What guys are you referring to?

Takedown 03.24.2009 06:16 PM

Not specifying anyone.

Metallover 03.24.2009 06:19 PM

When are these motors due out? The thing in the picture said q1, 2009 so does that mean by the end of march? That is right around the corner.

pb4ugo 03.25.2009 03:57 PM

Are these going to be based on Neu's new outrunners?

Say that one ten times fast :)

Takedown 03.25.2009 05:32 PM

I thought steve didnt beleive in outrunners?

Metallover 03.25.2009 06:01 PM

Look on the castle website. There is a really small outrunner. I am guessing there are going to be more coming out.

Unsullied_Spy 03.25.2009 06:12 PM

Those are Neu outrunners, made for extremely small and light aircraft (that motor probably weighs about as much as the rest of the plane/heli).

What's_nitro? 06.09.2009 11:59 PM

Bump? Can I buy one yet? :neutral:

Metallover 06.10.2009 12:03 AM

+1, it said first quarter 2009. It's the third quarter now.

Q1 = Jan-Mar
Q2 = Apr-Jun <<----- It's this one.
Q3 = Jul - Sep
Q4 = Oct - Dec

What's_nitro? 06.10.2009 12:19 AM

They must have meant the first quarter of the new millenium. :rofl: They have 241 years left to get them on the shelves!

Yeah, we know. One of the issues is that the demand for the Monster motors exceeded our expectations. The other issue is that we have been tweaking the designs for particular helicopter applications (TRX 600, 450, 700, etc.)

Metallover 06.15.2009 01:47 PM

Will these be out by the end of the year?

How does the magnet grade in the outrunners compare to the magnet grade you use in the inrunners?

We are shooting for late July/ early Aug now for delivery of a small number of the motors -- the full line should be available by the end of the year.

There are several magnet grades we are using, and the magnet grades change from diameter to diameter on the motors (they are optimized by motor size.)

They are ALL better grade magnets than are used by currently available outrunners on the market. There are those who claim that they have "BETTER" magnets that handle more heat -- don't buy into the BS hype. We've tested their magnets, and they are not as good as the magnets we are using.

ALSO -- we are using better laminations (M19 and M21 grade .2mm lams in most motors), better aluminum, better bearings, better copper (in some motors we are using 240C rated wire -- nobody else in the industry spends the extra $$$ for higher quality wire...) We are not trying to compete with the Chinese motors -- these will be top-of-the-line, state-of-the-art motors. We are sparing no expense to make the best quality motors in the industry.

Can't wait to see what you get finalized.

A TRex 700 motor sounds like a beast for sure!

That sucks, you have to be logged in to view the vid. Does he have a you tube or photobucket link?

Sorry, I can't. The video is copyrighted.

Can't tell if it works but try this:

Shucks, video "not found on this server". Question: will they have "movable" shafts so they can be set up to drive off both ends? Thanks, Don

No, but they will have a mount that will allow driving a prop off the back of the motor.

Pdelcast 06.16.2009 07:09 PM

BTW: Tim gets about 4 minutes of flight time off the 12S 5000mah 40C battery. 5HP average, 12HP peaks. Over 200A under high load maneuvers, about 15A hover.

I think his idea here is to attach a drive cup to each end of the shaft, so the motor could be placed in the center of a car/truck/buggy without any reduction. What we call "direct-drive-to-diff".

sikeston34m 06.17.2009 07:35 AM

Provided the shaft is not a press fit alone.

Provided the shaft has set screws, then it is moveable or replaceable.

Just looking at the pictures, I believe mods are possible. :yes:

I'm just waiting for them to be released.

DLS II 06.17.2009 09:57 AM

Yes, I believe I attached some pics previously in this thread. Don

Thanks for the vid Patrick. Anyone who has the tiniest interest in heli's should join helifreak, it's a great forum.

That's some serious power on a huge heli!

himalaya 01.28.2010 03:01 AM

The above pic said Q1 2009, now it's Q1 2010, one full year has passed.

Actually I am asking for the availability of the CC-Neu 2025 inrunner motor, been waiting for a while.

hemiblas 02.05.2010 12:43 AM

That video is amazing. After 6 months and hundreds of hours on the sim I can now hover in place tail in with a 450 heli and putt around a bit. Learning how to fly helis take a lot of dedication and research.
I definetly would like to see some Castle offerings in the outrunner department. Right now a castle motor for a 450 size heli would be nice and a couple of outrunners in the 35 x 30mm range for some nice 3d flying.

Unsullied_Spy 02.06.2010 09:18 AM

3536 :yes: Must have, make my SuperCub do unholy things.

sikeston34m 08.24.2010 10:43 PM

Did this outrunner line "project" fall off the back burner? :whistle:

Kind of -- we decided the 34mm motors were not really a good fit.

We have a 52mm and a 45mm motor being released shortly (TRex 700 and TRex 600 applications)

After those, we are doing some smaller motors pretty soon...

Thanx!

Patrick

TexasSP 08.25.2010 10:20 PM

Those 700's are bada$$! Would hate to get hit by one that went out of control with a big outrunner powering it though.
