I had a book like that, but they change it every year. One thing I would do before I go back in time is actually search for stocks that were bellow $1 and go from there. I would've liked to go before 1990, but that's when I came to the US.
|
I got a little buying power so I went to pinksheets and bought the big losers . Big gamble for sure.

Had another good day, cracked 1.3M and went from 15th Monday to 5th today! My one position that got killed is coming back, and some other things are moving. I'm starting to consolidate on a few more reliable positions and selling of the larger number of small gambles. All I need is for a couple of these to break out and things could get really good. I'd be really happy if I could break $1.5M by the end of the month, tho you never know... I bought RTK a couple weeks ago @ .62, sold a day later @ 1.35 and was proud of myself. Its since went up to nearly $3 and I was trying to buy it back @ $2 lol. |

I just checked and it seems that 3 (WLSI, ARTI and SMWF) of the 4 (CRRA) stocks I recently bought are giving me a little profit . I thought I was going to get hammered on them. If Monday turns out good, I'll buy the others that didn't go through (EXBX, NPHC and VMCI).
|
I've been thinking :intello:, since DRYS is not doing anything, I might sell it and take a huge loss. What do you guys think?
|
Quote:
I dont follow drys, but it seems like its kinda dead in the water (hahahaha.) I would think you have some time to jump into something else if you wanted to get back, otoh, if you are not in a rush, it may move later on. I came close to my $1.5M today, peaked around $1.49M, then backed down abit. Tomorrow should be interesting. Hopefully PNX will break out big time and push me over the top. ( I see you've got some too Luciano ;) ) |

I've been watching a few stock in the pink sheets and saw that some had huge % gains and now I'm going to gamble on a few more to see if I get lucky before this one game ends. I now own a few stocks with 100 million share and if one of them has a nice little spike, I'll definitely hit $20 million. This game has thought my friend a good lesson and he even started trading again, but didn't do it the way I did.
|
Lehman rules .
|
Next game plan will be to buy 10 more shares of BRK.A. Lehman will probably go back down and I hope that I see more gains before the game ends.

got your $20M! My PNX had an awesome day, but not that good. Stupid me chickened out and sold a good deal off @ $2.5 when it was heading down hoping to buy it again on one of the dips its been doing, but it rocketed at the end of trading here and closed at $3 and I missed closing at my $1.5M target. Monday should be interesting... :) |

In your opinion, whats the deal w/ all these busted financials going nuts lately? C, AIG, FNM, even Lehman. Is this getting to be irrational BS, or is there real value there?
Hard to fight the trend right now, but I'm not that confident is sustainable for the short term. |
Quote:
What I think the trend right now is, most stocks will suffer greatly on a downgrade and any bad news out there, but most stock will gain greatly with an upgrade and good news. Pharmaceutical stocks are a trip and can be awesome if one goes in before any FDA approvals, but will suffer if it doesn't pass. Right now is the time to go in long. Find a solid company and stick with it for a while. There are a lot of companies out there that have gone up since the bottom, but are still 50% and more lower then it's highs. So if anyone has the money to invest, a year ago would've been the right time, but anyone can still make good money now. |
If my friend had bout nothing but Lehman, he would've made up the money he lost. I forgot to mention to him what my plans are for the very cheap stocks I bought, but he bought one of them. I'll talk to him tomorrow and maybe Lehman will go to about $0.30 or more so he might still have a chance. I went down the list of all the Brasilian companies listed on the pink sheets and I know most of the stocks I'm currently buying will not go through, but will be what I'll eventually buy before the game ends.
Lehman rocks . |
Finnster,
What are you going to buy next? Does any RC company issue stocks at all? Would be nice and since I got to the $20 million mark, I would just put all of it in it until the end of the game. Lehman rocks . Might hit $1 or 2, but it could also go back to $0.03 or 0.05 in the next few weeks. It would certainly be nice to get $100,000,000+ out of $1,000,000. |
IDK, haven't time to look really. My gains have been good, but otoh, I'm working my ass off for 20% gains only to watch some chitty gov't bailout bank flying up 100's of % in a month and you feel like a chump.
The portfolio is more or less what I've been doing w/ my real money, just much more aggressively, with some side experiments, and quite a bit more money. I'm getting a bit iffy on the market w/ all the finacial action going on. Wonder if its a bit more speculation than reasoned investing, and cause for worry about a pullback here before too long. IDK. OTOH, if you can't beat em, join em. I'd like to have a day where I close above 1.5M. Its gone over a couple times, but didn't hold to close. If I can hit that, maybe I'll do some wild speculating an let it ride wherever it takes me. IDK, I threw some money in DXD for a hedge and we'll see where that goes. I have quite a bit of cash on hand, so really I'm waiting at this point. |

Did anybody else jump in Lehman early today? This stock could've pushed almost everybody to over $2 million.
This is bringing back a lot of good memories of my stock broker days . |
Quote:
I have no idea how to value this stock, altho I am almost tempted to buy some for real with some throw away money ($1K) and see how it goes. If I could buy for .10 or .15, what's the most I could loose? Few hundred bucks seems like a good gamble if it does come close to $1 What do you think? Stupidity? |
Quote:
If you go by the amount of cash and assets they have, this stock is a bargain. They have more cash then FNM, FRE and AIG which are all backed by the Government. It'll be a roller coaster ride, but I would love to see it at the same level or higher then FNM or FRE. I think LEHM is a great value, but the traders will decide whether it has a real shot to over $1. If you do have the cash to go in, see if you can grab some at $0.15 or less and hold it for a while. Buy more if you can and if Lehman comes out of Bankruptcy you'll come out good too. |
Finnster,
If you do have the money to play with LEHMQ (For real), it might be risky right here, but it looks like it's holding just above $0.20. Now this is just my opinion and it could go back down to $0.05, so I'll leave this up to you now. |
Oh IDK. Its Monday and I've had little sleep and I'm thinking weird things. Sold out one of my positions right before it climbed 11% today. Maybe I should step away from the keyboard before I do somethign dumb.
IDK on the Lehman. I guess the thing I don't understand is what the hell people are buying? If if did gain any value, wouldn't it all just go to bondholders and lawsuit claimants? Some story out today claims $100B in liabilities. What would stockholders get? That doesn't mean the stock can't go up, I just don't get the point. Sort of like the MTLQQ. Even the CEO is saying not to buy the stock, its future price will be 0, its a liquidation Co, and any new GM will be under a new IPO unconnected to this ticker, but millions of shares trade daily. ? I know I have lots to learn, only really started trading this year, but this just doesn't make sense to me. Anyway.. I think perhaps I'll ride w/ PNX for a bit. They got downgraded today, but the stock didn't budge, and actually climbed to a new high. Lots of volume as well. There was a ton of insider buying a while back in Mar as well. We'll see if my portfolio survives myself yet. |

The $100B thing is Lehman UK which makes no sense at all. Lehman has real cash and a lot of assets which can be used to pay up, but it's the traders who will decide where the stock will go. Cheap stocks are mainly what the day traders I know buy. They go in and buy more shares (It's what really counts at the end) and hope the stock moves and they make their money on it. I know guys who can easily make $5-10K a day and I'm sure they're using MTLQQ to make some profit. In the end it's all about going in and getting out at the right time even if a stock will no longer be there. I like my 25K shares of PNX, I didn't go big there just to see what it would actually do and it's up $1 for me. I'll keep it at that for now. I just hope Lehman can go to $1 before the game ends. I'll just ride this out until the end. My portfolio has been crazy since the biggining. It went to the center of the earth and now it's making sure Pluto is really a planet or not lol. If Lehman goes to $1, it will be looking for new life in a new solar system. What a ride for sure. Now for real though, investing in anything is risky and one must do his/her homework before investing. |
I would like to know if you guys want me to edit the game's date so we can continue with this one for a while longer? Let me know what you guys think.
|
Lehman is showing some good resistance at around $0.18-0.19, but it did dip to the low $0.15 (Might have hit less) today. It might still have good potential to go to above $0.50, but it's a very risky move.
Note: I got in MTLQQ when the ticker was still GM and later changed to GMGMQ. I was going to sell it when it went above $1, but I kept it just for the hell of it. |

IOW.. market is taking a beating now. I bought more PNX just before it dropped 20% >_< Buying up more and hoping gor the best. the only one I got in the green in teh DXD I got a few days ago to hedge against a drop. Knew it was coming, but hopefully this is just a small correction. Hell of a run we've had and some financials got a bit silly imo. |
Quote:
Taking a beating with good news, it's kind of strange. Maybe everyone is just to worried and got some profits. I hope tomorrow will be better. I thought PNX was going to the moon today. It did go over $3. Yeah man, it was a great run there. I think Lehman will still show it's pink sheet strength soon. Hopefully it'll come out of bankruptcy and it'll show everyone what a monster the company really is. Too bad LEHMQ will most likely go away . I got some screen shots though to keep as a nice memory and if it goes up more I'll just keep taking screen shots lol. |
Haha re PNX. I bought a bunch back and sold off some stuff w/ less potential. I was actually doing this today w/ my real $, and if I was 20min slower I would have caught it after the drop. Sucks to go away, come back to you desk and seeing the thing you just bought down nearly 20%. Fook.
Got a major position now in it in the game again, so I hope it pulls back soon. If it gets to $5-6 like I'm hoping it will be awesome. No Lehman, but not too bad either. I am bullish on it tho. I had a good feeling the market was due for a drop. Hopefully its just a minor correction. I was hoping it would not get dragged w/ the market, but I guess I was being optimistic. You never know tho. Least the DXD is green today. W00t 3%! |

Well that was a crap day. Lost 200K. PNX got killed as said, but I had aquired some Rambus, but their anti-trust trial got delayed today and that took a tumble too. Week hasn't been going so well so far. I'm hoping this won't be another ugly Sept/Oct.
Oh well, least I'm not back to 15th place again. I doubled (maybe tripled lol) down on PNX, so lets see where that goes. |

Nice job Finnster, 3% on a crazy day like today is not bad at all. I hope tomorrow will turn out better then today. I hope traders will make it a good Friday for everyone to enjoy the weekend .
|
I hope I get lucky with THMRQ. I see that THMRO is up 512% and THMRN will be up 3158% real soon.

I was wondering if the game limits you to avg volume on selling like it does on buying. Couple of stocks I wanted to buy were so low avg volume that I could only get like $5K of stock at a shot which ended up being a big waste of time. |
