lol, now u mention it, willing to sell urs? haaha Ur e-revo looks as perfect as ever. Hopefuoly mine will look 1/2 as good. My chasis is UGLIES thing i have ever seen. Blotches of silver adn blue. Im tyring it out on that, then i'll de-andodize it. If i mess up, it was a crap chassis anyway!

Gallagher 12.21.2005 11:14 PM

First of all ,I have to appreciate Dafni's wonderful work. The Bl Revo inspires me to have a try at it.
I have bought a brand-new Revo and some stuffs, then went starting my bl. Revo modification .
I have installed a HV-MAXX(this is the only one I can get),CF chessis(my preference and for lightweight ),and E-MAXX tranny in my truck.
I have a factory made a battery tray for me like Dafi's.After 3 weeks and lots of failure,I got my trays.
They are not better than Dafni's ,have some cracks at the bend, cost me a lot mony and time. Finally, I installed another battery holders from Kyosho, before I got them.
After 3 mintues test run on my top of floors(it was cold and dark there.),I am quite satisfied.
12 cells,70/12 geating ratio, stock rear center shaft in front ,aftermarket CVD in rear and 50K wt in both diffs.
New ,I am waiting for my customized metal idler gears and trying to reduce more weight of my truck.
:)

Hey, it's still apleasure to be an inspiration to other people.
Welcome to the club, Gallagher. I'm glad you posted here.

Many people sent me pictures of their converted Revo Dafni Style.

Maybe you can post a pic, Gallagher? And when you get bored of the HV, you can look forward to get a nice sensorless BL combo here from Mikes selection. I tried many motors on this truck, and as we speak, I'm awaiting my Lipos.

Cheers
DAF

CF? Ouch, that must be inpossible to bend.howd you do it without snapping?

Gallagher 12.22.2005 11:14 AM

I am still working on my truck and I take things apart from time to time.I will share my pics soon.
About the CF chassis,I do not try to bend is but to drill and attach posts beside it.:)

squeeforever 12.22.2005 12:52 PM

ncbaz, the carbon fiber is easily bent with a heatgun.

Gallagher 12.22.2005 09:11 PM

That suprises me!
How much heat will make the CF bend?
Is it to say the heat from engine mount could possibiliy
be softened and become deformed in nitro revo?

nbcaznmaster 12.22.2005 09:20 PM

probbablyl not. If ti did, they woudltn be making a cf exhaust !

squeeforever 12.23.2005 02:15 AM

it probably takes 500 degrees to bend that chassis. i had a few things i bent with a mear heatgun. just some thin plate for esc mount and stuff and a rear caliper guard for my dirtbike. wasnt really hard but the only thing is that the clear coating ontop of the fibers with crack if not careful.

I have a further testrun in an asphalt ground.
The 1st speed is fine but a little noisy.
The 2nd speed is quite fast but the truck is easy to roll over with about 1/3~1/2 throttle.
Should I get a heavier rate of springs and heavier wt shock oil or lighten the weight of the truck?
Do you guys have any suggestions to fix the problem?

Serum 12.24.2005 04:46 AM

@squee;

CF is NOT bent with heat. It is made in that shape.

nbcaznmaster 12.24.2005 10:26 AM

wow, that is really nice, i gotta find myself soem TF trays....

Gallagher 12.31.2005 09:18 AM

I have got another pic from the buttom. That shows how I fix the trays:3 CF tubes in each side.
The trays are the combintion of TF trays and my customized Al tray which I planed to be my battery trays in the beginning.
They are stronger and of easy access.
The transmission is a little off the center line of the truck. This gives me annoying trubles about the mounting of the center shafts.
I have to file the interferent spot of the chassis and the shafts.

Well well, alot has happened since this thread.

Because I am building a purely race-oriented G2R ( http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2332 for some spy shots), I figured I should turn this Revoxx here into a serious basher.
Here are some pics of how it looks now. It will probably get those setback arms, and hopefully a better body.

coolhandcountry 02.14.2006 06:22 PM

What motor is that? I would guess a 1950 hi amp series.

Dafni 02.15.2006 03:05 AM

Correct!

honestly, this truck it teh S-E-X. :043:

i bought a revo 3 weeks ago, and im fairly unhappy with nitro. i had 4 electrics prior to this, so i think im going to BL this too. im going to do it just like you did, too. do you think an 8 cell pack would fit alright?

i was thinking along the lines of this -

8 cells x2 (GP 3700's or intelect 3800's, matched and zapped)
9920
10l
UBEC

squeeforever 02.20.2006 12:12 AM

8 cells wouldnt fit without one on top.

kmracer66 02.20.2006 12:30 AM

ill just do 8 with one on top then. that would work, right?

kmracer66 02.20.2006 12:34 AM

how does the setup sound?

Sneeck 02.20.2006 02:04 AM

Get a 10xl, does much better. That would be a nice set-up to start, don't forget some metal idler's for the tranny, strobe slipper and some mod 1 pinion's.

kmracer66 02.20.2006 02:21 AM

oh, ok. i heard the XL has just a tad more torque, which i really doubt i'll need.

how exactly does that strobe slipper setup come together? pics?

Dafni 02.20.2006 03:19 AM

Hi and welcome, kmracer. Glad you like my truck.
The strobe slipper is a straightforward thing. Replaces the stock slipper. Just check the pics on the net, and you can figure it out. Strobe has a site, www.strobe-rcracing.com or something like this.

If I were to run 16 cells, I would go with a 9XL, btw.

Boys, the Revoxx is back! You might have seen the most current pics here in this thread. (LST tires, LT rockers, 1950/8) What an awesome setup! The "slow" motor is just right for this huge tires. I took it for a spin yesterday. Speed was good, but only nitro-like, which is enough for bashing for me. Runtime was nice, and the torque was unreal. The best of all was the temp, the motor stayed cool. Way cooler than anything I had experienced before on a solid-magnet motor.
The LT rockers give a nice articulation, and I was running over rocks like an enraged spider!

kmracer66 02.20.2006 04:31 AM

hmm. maybe ill just do 14 cells. it would be easier. how fast is it with 14 cells and the 9l? what gearing?

coolhandcountry 02.20.2006 09:10 AM

I think i would run the 10l on 14. But that is just me.

Dafni 02.20.2006 10:01 AM

On 14 I like the 7XL or 8XL just fine. (7XL for speed, 8XL for runtime)

But my favourite is the Lehner 1950! A 6 or 7 turn would be awesome on 14 cells.

kmracer66 02.20.2006 02:37 PM

would i be able to eventually run the 8xl on 16? what are the major differances between the l and the xl?

kmracer66 02.20.2006 03:22 PM

also, what about this new castle ESC? what are the specs on it?

Yes, you can.
The XL motors are physically longer than the L motors, which makes them capable of producing more torque.

It's not going to be out for a while yet. It's supposed to be able to handle 16 cells or 5s Lipo (something like that). It should take just about any MT motor (maybe except for the Lehner 2250s).

kmracer66 02.21.2006 01:29 AM

what about a Feigao 540c 9L? how much better is it than a 9l?

MetalMan 02.21.2006 09:25 AM

It is pretty much the 9L, but with a cool finned case (for better heat dissipation) and a removable rear endbell (no worries about it popping off).

kmracer66 02.21.2006 11:26 AM

now its between the 9l "c" and xl. opinions?

coolhandcountry 02.21.2006 02:32 PM

I like the xl motor better than the L motors for a monster truck.

kmracer66 02.21.2006 06:32 PM

cool.
so a 9xl on 16 with the 9920 would be good?

MetalMan 02.21.2006 06:52 PM

That would be an excellent setup!

coolhandcountry 02.21.2006 10:19 PM

I have had great luck with that setup. It runs cool with good run times as well.

kmracer66 02.22.2006 12:02 AM

i think ill do that then. sounds good. now, Feirgao or BK Wanderer?

MetalMan 02.22.2006 12:13 AM

Blue is cooler than purple :).

kmracer66 02.22.2006 12:29 AM

sounds like a deal to me ;)

ttrmike 04.13.2006 06:51 PM

Hey dafni do you have any more pics of your truck with the lst tires on it? Do you think it could be possible to put those lst tires on a 40 series rim without cutting them?
