wow! the alunimum huts my eyes soo shiny!
I compliment you on the truck great work to HNC and Daf!:)

starscream 04.12.2006 04:33 PM

What LVC are you using Daf? And what esc?

Dafni 04.13.2006 02:35 AM

The LVC is the LiSafer, have to look up the brand, though.
And the ESC is a 120amp Micro from BK. Was pricy, but feels very very good. I hope the 120 amp version will do. But judging from the temps so far, I think its good.

starscream 04.13.2006 05:39 AM

I'm running the 9920 on 6s so hopefully I can keep the temps under control.
I just got my LiSaver today. I was concerned that it may not work with the 9920. I tested it and it works fine. Tiny little guy, I like it.

nl12 04.13.2006 06:45 AM

I hope my truck doesnt end up needing a 2p setup like you guys; 8s2p would be a lot of weight, $, and additional drivetrain stress. Maybe my higher voltage will lower the amp draw enough, I hope the 2240/10 is not too amp thirsty

MetalMan 04.13.2006 07:36 AM

The "2p" is misleading. It depends one the cells thatyou are using, and how capable these cells are. For example, if you are using 3000mah cells rated at 15C, it may be worthwhile to use a 2P configuration. Any cell size smaller than 3000mah or a cell that can't handle 45amps continuous should be used in a parallel configuration for our purposes. If you use a larger cell, then it is your choice if you want to parallel the cells up.

nl12 04.13.2006 12:01 PM

74 amps continous should be ok then, thats over 2000 watts continous, 131 amps burst = over 3500 watts; these should do until the a123 m1 Lithium Ions are avalable then I can save a pound and have more avalable amps :027:

stampy 05.04.2006 09:19 PM

anything new with this truck daf?

Dafni 05.05.2006 02:23 AM

Thank you for asking, Stampy!
Yes, lots of news on this, actually. It's my standard truck now. My weapon of choice when I go out RCing, and I take the first BL revo with me so friends can drive it.

I made custom body mounts for the G3R, letting the body sit super low. Looks awesome.
Unfortunately I have some issues with Maxamps Lipos, at the moment I can only use 75% of the 8000mAh capacity... but since I spared no expenses on this truck, I'll soon have top notch Lipos too. You get what you pay for, and Maxamps just won't cut it for me anymore. Stay tuned on this.

Here are some pics of the new body mounts, they are made out of PVC:

DAF

stampy 05.05.2006 02:41 AM

very nice :043: do you have any pics with the body onher

Dafni 05.05.2006 03:30 AM

Sure! But this is only a prototype kind of body, to keep it stealthy.
The real body is in the works, truggy style. (who wants a pickup on a racer anyway? Was a compromise, because of the wheelbase)
This Ford body is already beaten up, btw.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pril_06010.jpg

So please don't hold me for this body, and the wheels are also more or less just for the picture. Like to run CFs on modified maxx rims.

brushless losi 05.05.2006 04:53 AM

ay dafni car look real nice. i had a question what is that part that holds the shim pins in place over the bulkhead brace. building from parts so i dunt know all the parts and traxxas does not show it in the assembly pictures.

stampy 05.05.2006 04:55 AM

hey i luve that body but i like the pickup bodys :004:and well ima ford guy lol. man that thing sits LOW! looks so friggin good daf :043: i wish my truck looks 5% as good as that thing does

Dafni 05.05.2006 05:19 AM

Thank you guys, I like it too. You should see it drive, it really IS low, it hugs the track.

Brushless Losi, I'm not sure what you mean by shim pins? But I assume you meant the part that was once just a stock revo bodymount/bumpermount. Right? I modified it, and it does appear on the exploded view, btw. It's part number 5314.

brushless losi 05.05.2006 05:48 AM

thanks they looked like a seperate piece in the picture. didnt know they were attached to the body mounts. thnks for clearing it up for me.

boss 302 05.05.2006 06:49 AM

lookin good dafni
man does that thing sit low

Sylvester 05.05.2006 07:47 AM

Dafni, that is absolutely the greatest truck ive ever seen, somtime, not now, but i may "steal" that body mount idea, what are those gray things (body mounts) made of? Please get a weight for that thing! Sorry to hear the maxamps lipos are poop didly:(

coolhandcountry 05.05.2006 09:17 AM

Why you only getting the 75% out the 8000 packs?

Dafni 05.05.2006 10:08 AM

Sylverster, thank you. The body mounts are made out of PVC (the gray plates, avaiable as sheets of various thicknesses), PP (the black posts, available as rods) and alu (the "mount" for the PVC plate on my front bodymount)

Coolhand, long story there. Short version is this: I bought a 5S2P setup (as two 3S packs and two 2S packs) but one 3S pack was bad, had a too low voltage right out of the box. Had to send it back, and even had to pay 50% to get it replaced. (says alot when they can't stand behind their packs) Mind you, the pack was never used, but maybe they haven't believed me.
Anyway, got a new 3S pack one month later, only to find that it drains twice as fast as it's neighbor in a 2P configuration.... maxamp offered me to replace it again, or get a lousy 15% discount on a new set. Junk, IMHO.

So for now, if I don't want to set my truck on fire or whatnot, I only use 75% of the capacity, and it's fine. Still an awesome runtime, but those packs just don't cut it anymore for me. I think I found a better solution.

However, lesson learned. On this truck I only used top of the line stuff, and everything else will still get replaced. Now I will get proper cells, quality has its price.

DAF

coolhandcountry 05.05.2006 12:49 PM

I can let you know what I think of the cells i have. They are not as light as lipo though. The ones mike has may be good. Not sure though would have to ask mike. Can even get a 5s to.

cabking 05.05.2006 06:55 PM

A truly superb job :dft003: , but then you don't need me to tell you that.
Serum said it right when he called it a TOOL, a tool for catching Truggys is what it is.
Ive followed this thread with interest for a while, Have you had much track time with it Daf, how does it compare to the Nitro Truggys?
As quick as my Revo is it, it is too much to ask to keep with them through the 'twisty bits' but with that centre diff you must have them on the run.

I don't suppose you have any drawings for that mount :p As I know a good 'Mill Monkey' (his words not mine) who is very partial to a beer....I work for a Brewery .......It is one of Natures true partnerships. :027: remeber............imitation IS the most sincere form of flattery.
I was going to convert a CRT as it seems the easy thing to do, but a centre diff Racing Revo really floats my boat.

Top work Daf

Dafni 05.06.2006 07:25 AM

Thank you Mr. Cabking sir! Always makes me smile when I inspire people!
Sorry, no drawings of the diff/motormount though. Just made it up as I went along.

So far I had no chance to race it against a nitro truggy. You don't see much truggies here, most nitro guys are still into buggies here. This summer I will take it out with me on tour, and maybe I'll even pay you guys on the Island a visit. I'll let you know when I'm around, would love to drive on your track, Cabking.

And I'm sure when you get to know your tranny revo better, get the turn sweeping throttle technique down, you'll catch up with the nitros. Even on tight tracks.

Later

squeeforever 05.06.2006 11:19 AM

Dont forget, you can always add a center diff into your tranny.

Mike.L 05.06.2006 05:23 PM

wow daf another outstanding achievement! nice man

Serum 05.06.2006 06:43 PM

Yeah, a true piece of RC art.

No doubt about that Daniel!

Sylvester 05.06.2006 06:47 PM

Muahaha, now your gonna have some competition! Im gonna be building up a whole new revo over the summer, and i have alot of things up my sleeve! But daf, even i, nor serum, nor any of the big companies (gorillamaxx, integy etc) Could create something as wonderful as you have, Kudos!

Serum 05.06.2006 06:55 PM

Heya sylvester, speak for yourself buddy!!!!!

coolhandcountry 05.06.2006 07:24 PM

Well I have to say dafni has some sweet rides. I can't say that others can't do it. Just whether they choose to do it.

Rene has some clean rides to. He just don't show them all off to everyone.

crazyjr 05.06.2006 07:29 PM

Agreed, I want one in carbon fiber, center diff and all

Daf. if you make it as far as the South coast of England, we would love to see you and your Trucks.

I just need more practice for sure, but its coming :032:

crazyjr 05.06.2006 08:18 PM

Hey Cabking the G2R likes to drift a little, or mine does so try that. I also moved the rear upper suspension pin to the lower position

Dafni 05.06.2006 08:25 PM

Cabking, I meant it in a good way! Keep going. Didn't want to suggest you can't drive.

Yes, I'll sure let you know wen I'm in the UK the next time. Always ready to make "short-cuts" for a lil' RCing. When I'm traveling light, I may only bring the BL MBX5, though.
Your location is cool for me. I could even come by ferry, via France.

Sylvester, thank you very much. But there are plenty of other awesome RCs around, really. Everybody has his style, and no one was the first one or will be the last one. And most times it's only just about to turn an idea into reality. Imagination is all it takes, and patience, of course. Spare money is always nice in our hobby, too.

Cheers lads

I did the exact thing. It really gives it that "bite" on tracks or any surfaces.

Yea, daf. There are many beautiful trucks out here, and every member here that owns any truck, must have his/her own taste of what they like, and if they dont like it, i dont see why they bought/made/created it.

squeeforever 05.06.2006 09:06 PM

Yea, just check out Steve Slayden's Revo setup guide. Theres several parts to it. Some pertain to Revos in general and some to just nitros. You can check it out at Traxxas.com.

cabking 05.07.2006 02:24 AM

Daf, That how I took it! :027: You'd have to go a long way to offend me!!! :028:

Thanks for the tips you guys,

Dafni 05.18.2006 05:13 PM

Another update: Truck still runs very well, smooth as butter. Drives just like a buggy with big wheels.
Finally found the diff oil setup that suits my driving perfect, and the suspension is also dialed now, for rough tracks. Learned quite a bit more of Revo setups on this truck.

Rcbros 05.18.2006 05:24 PM

so your saying you have a custom diff setup for a fellow rcbro driver? lol :D

I need a reason to make my revo a flashlight and that diff would sooo do it lol

Dafni 05.18.2006 05:30 PM

Well, I would have one if I didn't like it: ;)
Would be easy to make your own one, mate. You could even bolt a hacked EMaxx motorplate to a buggy center diff assembly, just like some buggy converters did.

Thunderbruiser 05.22.2006 02:51 AM

that thing is crazy it sits so low...and as for the max amps batts i hope they are n't bad cause i bought 4 2s's 8000mah and 2 3s's 8000mah...which i think i'll be using in my revo project

squirrel 07.18.2006 09:43 PM

this truck is blowing my mind. I'm just getting into the whole eRevo thing, and all I can say is wow!
